BenQ’s product-page (on their own site) doesn’t list it in the specs, but does mention it in the FAQ:
The current firmware version only supports 3D Frame Sequential (PC) and Frame Packing (Blu-ray), the side by side 3D and Top & Bottom 3D are not supported yet.

The display unit/monitor has to support side-by-side, which is the generally the oldest supported type, but nowadays the most common-supported type is the 3D Frame Sequential type, which basically each sent frame switches between the R and L eye/projector.

The framepacking method would be closest, as that generally is Left and Right (respectively) stacked on top of one another, with a few added pixels of blackspace. other then that it is simply two fullsize images on top of one another.

I’m not sure if VorpX already has a top-bottom 3d output, maybe that could be adjusted/adopted in order to get (even if somewhat finnicky) framepacking support :)

Thanks in advance to anyone can help me.

Bought Vorpx yesterday. After a couple of hours, could not achieve anything.

    I have a:

    Oculus Quest 2
    Vampire Bloodlines (bought via Steam)

Followed overall general instructions but upon launching the game kept getting the following message:

“Oculus runtime init failed, vorpx will not work correctly. Try to restart the Oculus Software or your PC. Switching Vorpx to Steam VR mode may help in some cases”.

    Oculus runtime error:

    Could not load LibOVRRT. (-3001)”

    I have tried the following:

    Several vorpx adjustments to ‘hook’.
    Restarted pc and oculus.
    I even unistalled steam vr.

    Still nothing.

Any help is appreciated. I had big hopes for vorpx but so far my experience has been very bad.

The default folder for Windows apps is C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. It’s hidden per default, so you have to enable ‘Show hidden files’ in the Explorer options. Caveat: It’s also access restricted to protect apps installed there. Whether you want to change that or not is up to you.

Thank you very much Ralf! I wasn´t aware Microsoft is really hiding a game I actually bought, along with not giving me any rights to check its files, except getting a visible (happily not hidden as well!) shortcut and thanks to dear Mister Gates also the rights to click and start the appropriate app with it.

BTW: If you want to access the folder to add the .exe to a vorpX profile: that is not necessary. Instead simply use the ‘Add Process’ button in the config app while the game is running.

THAT actually also showed me the Crackdown3.exe, which the alt-tab process-list wasn´t showing me or didn´t allowed me to show!

Sadly i still can´t make vorpX hook to it, even with admin-rights. Guess this is because i still haven´t gotten the appropriate full-rights on the WindowsApps-Folder and until to this point i was only able to manage looking into it with using the notebook-trick (starting notebook.exe with admin rights and opening the Winapp-folder then).

So well, WindowsApp-Folder revealed a shitload of 100s of folders, after quickly looking at the biggest one, it showed me some folder with 8 MB, LOL, no sign of any Game-Folder with approx. 30 GBs and neither any sign of the Crackdown3.exe.

Enough with this crap, i am goin to download the cracked pirate version and try if vorpX can hook to that one, i already bought the game anyway so i am still a lawful person LOL!

    Anyway, thanks again Ralf!

…or is it my Oculus Goggles?

Why is it that most of those problems occuring (sudden stuttering with no end, crashing, goggles unable to find spots, etc.) are exclusively and only happening whenever i am playing games on vorpX with Steam-VR enabled???

I´d prefer to run them with Oculus but some refuse to work with it.

I was just in middle of a heaty FARCRY 6 Mission and had to abort it coz the game suddenly started stuttering everywhere (even when i took goggles off it kept stuttering on the monitor) so then i had to shut off Steam-VR which was also shutting off the game, great, now i can start that goddarn mission all over again.

Probably time to get rid of this fu***** Zuckerberg-Crap anyway and buy me some real vr goggles.

Yes that’s true, but Valve with their next gen standalone Headset and Sony with the PSVR2 will be still available. And in the B2B market the VR Headsets are industry standard in so many company’s, medicine and science etc. and this is irreversible. But we will have to pay much more for our VR Headsets if PC-VR is only possible with B2B Headsets.

I keep my fingers crossed that Metaverse will be successful, but it needs one more important thing to be interesting for the masses, and that is the topic relationships and sex. Mark added the status of the relationships to Facebook and that was the one special thing that made the whole social media thing interesting for most of the people. The success of Instagram is without sexual allusions in the stories unthinkable, too. Everyone who likes porn in general, and has seen a porn in 4K 3D on a VR Headset will buy a VR Headset very soon. But the masses don’t even know what they are missing. And if that will be possible for couples with webcams live in real time, or webcam boys or girls live in real time, it will make the metaverse successful. This 3D Mode can be used just for dating and to get to know without sex, too.

In my opinion the comic style of the metaverse is bullshit, everyone should buy 3D webcams within a chip that that supports hardware encoding of the stream in real time. With the smaller Headsets looking like glasses and wireless streaming in the future, that’s interesting for the B2B market for conferences or just for video calling in the business sector, too. But in the moment the metaverse is ugly and boring, and even the employees of meta have no desire to use it !

I think the metaverse bubble will attract VR Hostiles for example like the CEO of 2K to develop GTA 6 for VR headsets, and many other VR Hostiles to poured billions of dollars into VR. I think that is the reason why he is fighting again the modding scene. I hope that so many people will have a positive experience with VR before Meta fails, that VR will still survive. VR gaming, dating and working isn’t a nerd thing, the masses will like that but not with this ugly uncomfortable metaverse in the moment.

    Hi Heoun,
    If you want to use JUST your controller make sure you have “Override X-Box Gamepad” switched to off, … However;
If you are using the vorpx controller emulation (or “Override X-Box Gamepad”) on “FULL” or “PARTIAL” then you should be able to reduce the sensitivity down in the “change controller sensitivity” section.
Knock the X and Y down to 0.01 (even 0.00 in some cases) on the stick (left or right) that that is causing issues.

I have had the same issue in a few games that wont let me use native controller and this resolves the issue.
Also worth noting that you “may” need to switch the Walk/Run invert (or something like that) at the top of the “Change Gamepad Mapping” section (this way your character shouldn’t sprint off into the distance when you full lock the stick to move).

Might take a bit of poking to get it just right, but worth it in the end ;)

    Hope that helps.

Are these games not meant to be played in full VR and more in theatre mode? I get sick even if I am not moving very much in the scene.

The human mind is not meant to experience something like vr to begin with but that ain´t a problem since it can adapt to it, so even if those games “aren´t made to be played in full-vr” doesn´t mean your brain/mind can´t adapt to it, if that would be the case then it also wouldn´t be able to adapt to regular vr-games. In your/this case it just needs longer then.

    Any suggestions welcome.

Keep playing and make the right pauses as soon you get that sick-feeling, give your brain/mind the time it needs to adapt to it.

is now not yet possible to play far cry 6 in 3d, with z-normal?

3D can be troublesome with DX12, in certain cases certain games still keep running in 3D (if i remember correctly then HORIZON ZERO DAWN was one of the few still running in 3D even it uses DX12)

FARCRY 6 seems to be running with DX12 since one of its latest updates, so there was happening the same with RESIDENT EVIL (remake) getting a DX12-Update and since then refusing to run in 3D.

I was enjoying RE in 3D by the way, until those capcom-dorks decided to update the game with DX12 so then i had to continue playing the game in “boring” 2D then LOL.

Seems to be a common thing these days to do updates on games and suddenly change from DX11 to DX12, so i hate to say it but in certain cases it´s probably better to just pirate certain games and keep the game from doing certain more or less “useless” updates, especially when those are “destroying” a vorpX-3D experience that way.

Edit: Regarding your question, switching to 3D just made the glitch go away but i didn´t notice any 3D-effects so i am afraid the answer is “no”.

In my opinion and after my experience, motion sickness can easily be overcome with just getting used to it.

I was easily getting sick pretty bad, moving through VR without teleporting was good as impossible for me without getting sick to the point of having cold sweat on my face.

I exactly remember how i couldn´t play DOOM VR any other way but teleporting. So when i tried the regular fluid walking-way more often, i noticed how easier it got and how i was able to play the game that way even longer, to the point where i was actually able to play it one hour straight the “regular” way rather than teleporting and so i was also able to play other games without getting sick so fast or not getting sick at all.

I also understand that it can be very troublesome for new vr-users while making them quit it too soon, since that sickness can be really bad (as it happened to me before i got used to it).

So people must be aware that just getting used to it is all what it takes to overcome it.

Most important thing is to realize as to when first signs of “slight” motion sickness are showing and instantly stop playing, otherwise it gets real bad with every other second you´re staying there and also stays that way for about 10 minutes (or even longer) even when you took off the goggles.

I’ve had Vorpx for a few years and would love to be able to play a full game with it. A handful of times I’ve tried various games in full VR mode (Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, KCD, Vampyr, Oblivion), it’s pretty cool to be able to be in those worlds in VR. However, I can’t ever seem to last more than a few minutes before I get extremely queasy. I have a 3080ti and the performance appears acceptable.

I have fairly solid VR legs and I play SkyrimVR/fo4VR and other VR games regularly. Are these games not meant to be played in full VR and more in theatre mode? I get sick even if I am not moving very much in the scene. Any suggestions welcome.

Thank you for the additional tips. Still trying to figure out why some games aren’t displaying properly. So far Need4Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered and Batman Arkham Origins worked first try.

Dead Space, Alan Wake, Black Mesa, Left4Dead2, Portal 2 all have Black screen on hook-in. I’ve tried numerous profiles (official Vorpx and users’) to no avail. Even though the Vorpx version number appears, the del key doesn’t let me see the Vorpx-menu.

I’ll also say, only Left4Dead2 & Black Mesa appear in my “restore” profile settings section of the Vorpx configuration window, even though I have run all these games already. Is that odd behavior or do some profiles get stored somewhere else? Do I need to do anything manually if I’m importing multiple profiles for the same game? (Or do they just automatically overwrite the last applied?)

I appreciate any assistance though! Forgive my noob questions.. I’ve been tinkering but I only a couple hours a night, late. Hopefully I’ll be playing *something* by Halloween

I use Vorpx just for the 3d on my 3d projector and it works really well on most games, some games I had to make my own profiles for though, by using other ready made ones that I know use the same engine,I got every game working eventually by doing this… the only time I had a similar issue to the one you described was when I accidentally chose a different resolution to 1080p and the screen went all funny a bit like you said… that’s all I can think of really, never had any issues since.. I hope you get it fixed because Vorpx has been a god send for me, playing almost all my games in stereoscopic 3d is awesome.

I am having an issue getting Vorpx to display 3D signal on my Panasonic 3D TV.

I read some posts on this forum of people using Vorpx to play games on their 3dtv’s. Those posts are now years old, and I’m likely in minority of people still using one. But, I’ve got a 1080p 3d with great image quality so I wanted to see if I could get it up and running with Vorpx.

I selected Generic 3dtv in Devices, and tried both “use windows default” or selecting my tv directly, but when hooking into 3 different games (Left4Dead2, Black Mesa, Portal 2) all I get is a black screen with a diagonal shader across the entire screen. I CAN see the Vorpx version number watermark in lower left of screen and I can hear the game running, but the image isn’t showing up properly on screen.

The few videos available referencing use of Vorpx with a 3DTV already show the game hooked in and running in SBS (side-by-side image) 3D format… I’m not getting even that far.

Also of note, the Del key to show Vorpx menu does not appear with the screen blacked out like that.

Can anyone advise on why I maybe running into this issue?

Hey Ralf; I’m currently trying to prep a clean install of Cyberpunk for a *full* play-through (which I’ve never actually done yet – I decided to patiently wait out all the updates and bug fixes etc. Looks like, with v1.6 we are in a ‘reasonably final’ state – let’s hope!)

I’ve played with your stand-alone version of your mod for CP2077, but generally went back to playing it the usual way, as that lets me switch easily between my HMD and my 3D Display, as desired, with almost zero settings fiddling.

I generally run in full eye-candy mode, forgoing full VR for a high-detail experience with RT. In the past (I don’t think I’ve even touched Cyberpunk for 6 months now) I never have *any* problems with RT being turned on, but in my early testing, hooking vorpX to CP2077 the usual way (not the stand-alone mod,) I’m seeing all kinds of image-warping and other issues, which go away once I turn RT off. This is a new behavior I never noticed in the past, and may have something to do with CP adding new RT effect it did not previously have?

Is there any way to fix this? Start the game and just move through as quickly as possible until you are given the quest to steal the car right at the beginning. Once you get to the underground garage where the car is located look around. You’ll need to move all around the scene and look around as well; you’ll probably see what I’m talking about.

Yes please! I just purchased VorpX specifically with the hopes of playing this game in G3D on my Index. I haven’t used VorpX before and now I’m trying to learn the whole program from the ground up just to play this game. Anyone that can help, please do!
I believe the engine is Unreal 4. I saw in a YT video to try using Jedi Fallen order or Abzu when creating a new profile. But no matter what I’ve tried I can’t even get it to hook. If anyone could help out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. <3

And by the way this game is pure art, it’s so amazingly gorgeous to look at and is atmospheric as HELL – it would be such an incredible experience in VR! You should check it out if you like HR Giger, atmospheric dark fantasy, Myst-like environmental puzzles, and ambient music. Help me live my fantasy of being on an alien planet in VR :D
