Same here. I don’t know if this is something to be expected. There are several could profiles with downloads so there should be plenty that tried this game. It’s odd no one else complained about the frame rate.
I spent a couple of hours with various settings but they don’t seem to make much difference.
In the end I just used Z3D instead of G3D. But even for that, because program association buttons are disabled on official profiles you have to jump through some hoops to get it working, mainly discussed here: https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/devil-may-cry-5/

    Hi,

I have an issue with getting ArmA 3 to run with Vorpx.

I have a fresh install of ArmA3 which works perfectly well on my monitor.

The issue is when I try to run using Vorpx the ArmA 3 launcher opens fine, I start the game which shows the normal ArmA 3 loading screen, the Vorpx ‘Hooking .exe’ as it should, the Oculus view switches from the normal menu screen to the ArmA 3 loading window but then the game closes and I’m back to Desktop (on my monitor) and Menu screen in Oculus.

There are no errors popping up, I have checked the ArmA logs (no errors).

I have Runtime Switcher set to opencomposite but have also tried it set to SteamVR (same result).

In Configure Vorpx I have tried resetting the ArmA III profile back to default (even though I didn’t edit it) and also tried restoring the game setting but the list is empty.

    Any ideas?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Cheers

    Bryan

To add an update, I tried the desktop viewer a few times, but I am getting a black cinematic screen. Even with all monitors but 1 disabled. Also if I close the viewer it will NOT hook the desktop again and I have to reboot to try again…

The profile comes with a correct FullVR FOV per default, although at the expense of black bars above and below the image.

That said, if you want to optimize the FOV, the important thing to get right is matching the game FOV to the headset FOV. vorpX can do that automatically in many games, but not in Star Citizen. I would have implemented that for Star Citizen long ago, but it’s not reliable enough due to the game’s odd FOV system that requires a resolution change on each start to raise the max. possible FOV. Also IIRC they don’t store the FOV in an accessible .ini file anymore unfortunately since some time.

Every headset is a bit different in regard to its FOV, but what you can rely on is that with an ImageZoom value of 1.0 the correct FOV is 97 degrees vertical. So if a game happens to use a vertical FOV setting in degrees things are fairly easy. Not sure if SC does that, but most other CryEngine games do, so if you’re lucky all you need to dial in is ImageZoom 1.0 in vorpX and FOV 97 in Star Citizen.

Things get messier when games use horizontal or completely arbitrary FOV values, since those may be calculated in different ways (funny enough sometimes even objectively wrong). So if a game uses horizontal or arbitrary FOV values, your best option is to rely on what looks right to you unless vorpX handles FOV automatically. All profiles that default to FullVR mode are set up in a way though that works FOV wise, just sometimes – like SC – at the expense of top/bottom bars.

    ALSO:
I tested RE2 with geometry, I loved. I was using a rtx 2070 super. OK.
Now I am using rtx 3080 and I get the same amount of frames on this game. Not even 90fps at 720p. WHAT?

Sounds as if something is really off on your system, SteamVR having wrong colors also doesn’t really sound right. you can be sure that if issues like that would be some general problem, you’d see quite a few more posts like yours here. If ‘wrong colors’ means the image is too dark/bright, you can change that in the vorpX menu on the image page.

If you happen to have a HDR capable monitor, please make sure that HDR is off in the Windows display settings. No current VR headset is HDR capable, so using Windows in HDR mode may lead to wrong colors.

The error you see in Oculus mode is returned by the Oculus runtime when vorpX tries to initialize the headset. Apparently the runtime checks the digital signature of the main runtime component, which for some reason fails on your machine. That’s not something vorpX does, it happens entirely within the Oculus runtime, vorpX just shows the error it gets back from the Oculus runtime. So all I can really suggest here is reinstalling the Oculus software since the error message suggests that the Oculus runtime is broken.

Apart from that please also do a full vorpX factory reset in the vorpX config app (trouble shooting page).

Last, but not least: If you happen to run vorpX, Steam, or any of the games you tried in some sort of compatibility mode (e.g. Windows XP), make sure to revert that.

    Thank you for your reply

    Few test more
Rocket league – default – working
    RE 3 – DX 11 – default – working (3d geometric)
    RE 3 – DX 12 – default – working (3d geometric)
Control – default – oculus runtime error (i do not even know if it is compatible)

    – Is possible that Oculus quest 2 controllers interfere with vorpX? (From myself I have activated link using hand tracking, and then launch everything using mouse)

    – I have closed DS4 controller till game is launched. Just in case.

    – The game was launched in the past with too much quality so headset has problem loading game? i have decreased quality from pc version before launch as VR.

    – The game had enabled HDR and might have some problem launching game? I have set all to normal.

    – I have alternated between DX11 – DX12 and test.

I already did a full vorpX factory reset before I opened this threat and tested everything.

After all these test, I do not think anything is off from my side. I have reinstalled oculus just in case, and did as above, and now:

RE 7 – working using default on Steam mode (colors were changed because of HDR I think)
RE 2 – it just works if I disable “try to block known game overlays” on steam mode. This time the vorpX menu is working and 3D geometric is enabled. (something that I did above fixed it)

So far I was able to sort out the issues, HOWEVER, this is not nice. I had to try a lot of configurations and modes, AND as I said above, if I use others configurations game will not work even all I did. So something is not working on the app.
If you say still is my computer, I think you should know where the issue is. I do not think I am the only person who gets error from oculus quest 2, is just, probably we are not playing same games on vorpX using oculus quest 2 as it seems it depends about the game.

Oculus runtime error still there after all these checks.

I installed and used VorpX for Cyberpunk 2077.
After trying around a little bit, I went to reset the config (by using the VorpX menu) so my Cyberpunk 2077 config would be the same as before using VorpX. But something is not alright. I get a hard fps-lock to 60, even if I increase the fps-lock to 144 or even disabling it completely. Before using VorpX I had around 70-80 fps. Now it’s never going to 61, it sticks exactly at 60 all time.

Can you tell me, which part of the config might not have been reset correctly or where this is coming from?
If I set the ingame fps-cap to 30, this works. But since even disabling things like RTX or quality does not change my fps to go above 60 now, some config must be invalid/corrupted. Vsync is disabled of course.
    Any help is much appreciated.

vorpX works a bit different than native VR apps. First the game gets rendered at its own resolution, then vorpX sends it to the headset. If you apply supersampling in SteamVR only the second step would be affected, not the actual game. Actually it isn’t though since vorpX sets a supersampling value itself based on the game resolution.

What you want to do to get a crisper image is rendering the actual game at a higher resolution. Either by selecting a higher res in the game options or (in games where vorpX can do that) on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu. For Bioshock Infinite the latter applies. Whenever vorpX can set the resolution, you see an according hint in the top/left corner of the game window.

Hint: Check the ‘Custom Resolutions’ section in the vorpX help to add resolutions higher than your monitor allows.

Wow! This made so much of a difference. You just made me love the product even more! If you don’t mind, a few other questions:
    1. How do I save my Vorpx config settings? Every-time I exit the game, I need to reconfig the settings.
    2. I read that for a FullVr experience – 4:3 aspect ratio is the best. Is that true? Or I need to tweak and find what best setting is per game? How about 16:9 since it offers better resolution.
    3. I’m guessing nothing stops me from creating a custom resolution greater than 3840×2400? If yes, any resolution multiplier that I need to keep in mind?

Just loaded up cyberpunk 2077 on my RTX 2060 (low-midrange) and was surprised at how well it ran on lounge mode with a black background w/ vorpx using Samsung odyssey. Even with raytracing it was playable for me (although in crowded downtown driving it does struggle a bit). THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH for continuing to support VR with VORPX as you have made so many games that much better to play. I LOVE 3D and since nvidia stopped supporting it, this is the only way to experience my games in 3d but now on a massive virtual screen.
And User 77, I agree RDR2 with vorpx (3D on)…going on horseback into Saint Denis seeing gas lights at night with fog is amazing! I would stop doing the mission and just wander around admiring the atmosphere, I cannot wait for the next gen games to arrive and up the quality of titles even more now that ps5 is out (seems quality follows console capabilities)…and once 3080/3090s get back in stock I think I might have to upgrade my graphics card to improve the experience further.

Once again, thanks for all your hard work Ralf! We appreciate it

    Hey folks,

Got Horizon the other day; I know i heard it was buggy but wanted to check if anyone else trying to use Vorpx is having this feature with the current version of the game.

    I have a CV1, Radeon 5600xt, 16g ram, i7-4930k processor and game is installed on a SSD.

I have turned settings all the way down to 720p, everything at low.

It gets like 70% the way through loading and then it crashes, saying something is wrong with Oculus, sometimes saying “the game has crashed” and asks to send an error report.

I have tried to get it to load into the game 10+ times now and dont know if the recent patch broke it or what. I know my Graphics card isnt top top of the line, but I am running it at Low everything and 720p and cant even get into the game. It loads to the main menu, Im allowed to hit “continue” to load a game, but it crashes when the load is around 70% done.

I dont know if this an issue with the game, or with having to use SteamVR when using a Rift because SteamVR and Rift for DX12 games have to both be running.

Anyone know if a recent patch broke the game for Oculus headsets or any tricks to potentially get it working?

Thank you for your time, take care!

Hi everyone, I am new and tried my best with the search, and failed.

Is it possible to create a custom cinema? I love the desktop viewer and the rooms are pretty cool, but having your own room would be even cooler.
I am not talking editor, I get that this would be too complex, but creating a room in a 3D program should be doable.
Somehow you must have gotten the default rooms in there.

This would be awesome, I like the steam vr cinema for example. Except it is missing chairs and your cool ambience light.

Hi Ralf, I already reset the profile to factory default but that didn’t help.
Buttt I just did the ‘Full factory reset’ and that fixed it. I did not get the ‘vorpx made changes, restart game’ message and the FOV was perfect.

Maybe this helps you with troubleshooting – before I did this factory reset, while loading the game you have the press ‘E’ during the intro to continue.
Even though the game was showing on my monitor, my keyboard didn’t respond. I had to alt-tab back to windows and then back to the game before it worked.
After the facory reset, this was not needed.

Thx for replying, going to enjoy this beauty in vr now :D

I started it and got the ‘vorpx made changes, this game requires a restart’.
I restarted, but again I got the same ‘restart’ message.
Started the game but the FOV is completely wrong.

There is a ‘kingdom come’ entry in ‘restore game settings’ so apparently vorpx does save something, but since I keep getting the ‘restart’ message it seems Vorpx somehow can’t make the correct fov change.

    I tried:
    – restoring the game entry
    – tried other profiles
    – reset profile to factory default
    – tried changing the FOV in the vorpx-in game menu but that didn’t do anything at all, even when set to the minimum or maximum settings

Would appreciate help, really would like to play this one in VR :)

I just got vorpx- I have an htc vive and battlefield V but I can’t get BFV to run in vorpx at all- doesn’t show up on the Hmd (even though I get the notification on my desktop ‘attaching to bfv.exe’ and BFV is supposed to work stock)- any ideas what I need to do to get it to run? Since BFV is an origin title and not on steam do I have to make it run through steam as a non steam game to make it run in vorpx since I am using steam vr and not oculus or not necessary for non steam games? Is there something in the graphics settings I need to change before hand to make it work? Like stop directx 12 and make it direct x 11? (I managed to get Battlefield 1 and Just Cause 3 to work so far) -Thank you for any feedback

I was having the same issue (Vive headset, GOG version of the game). Ended up having to disable my anti-virus to get VorpX to hook the Cyberpunk executable the first time. Once I did that though, I was prompted to create a firewall rule and it runs fine even after re-enabling my AV. Hope that helps.
