You can safely ignore this message. Steam normally launches non-VR games in a (rather crude and slow) 2D theater if a VR headset is present. That’s what this message is about. vorpX diables the Steam theater though. In addition to that you can disable the VR theater either globally in the Steam options or per game on the game properties page. Shouldn’t be necessary though.

Trine 2 and Darksiders both are DX9, FO4 is DX11, so maybe you have some background program that interferes with DX11.

Just in case: I probably won’t reply to further posts anymore today (Saturday, 10PM). Will check back tomorrow.

Under normal circumstances the game should just hook fine by launching it from Steam. Not much else I can suggest anyway.

Your trying Battlefront 2 2017 correct?

Make sure your running the game in dx11 mode and that you didn’t disable Optimize Game Settings in vorpX config app.

I don’t get crashes, but I do notice it takes ridiculously long to load into the title screen each time I launch the game. Only the loading ball top right corner shows that it is not frozen.

If you can manage to open the delete key menu before crashing, you could try switching to Z-normal 3D instead of Geometry and see if that helps.

I have a request to make: tweak if you like, after all vorpX allows you to do that, but please, please do not recommend your eyeballed FOVs over the FOV vorpX calculates to others. This is not some “cool theory”, it’s relatively simple math without any margin for subjective feelings. Your headset has a defined FOV which the runtime reports to VR apps and VR apps set their FOV to this reported value.

Not a single native VR app has an FOV slider, simply because none is needed. They all set their FOV automatically to the value the runtime reports for a headset.

Same for vorpX if automatic FOV is available. If you feel that value is wrong, your feeling is wrong. I can guarantee that 200% (sic!). The only caveat is that there might be a conversion/calculation bug for one or the other game, but that is rather unlikely.

Yeah it’s a bit tricky. Sometimes it won’t appear at all, but when it does the lines are easily visible while quickly rotating your head side to side. If it’s of any relevance, I’m using the oculus rift.

Anyways, thanks Ralf; I don’t mean to bust your balls.

    Woo, first profile uploaded.

    BloodRayne – G3D

    Notes:
    – You need to use this with dgvoodoo2.
    – Cinema/Immersive
    – This game was made to run at 30fps and runs too quickly on modern hardware. If you have the GoG version of the game you should be fine, otherwise you need to use nvidia profile inspector to cap the frame rate at 30 and then set vsync to 1/2 (be careful to not set that globally). You’ll also have to manually link it to the .exe since nvidia control panel doesn’t have a profile built in for it.

Finally, you can try first person musket battles of the Civil War in War of Rights – out today on steam Early Access.

I’ve been playing this in closed Alpha all summer and am glad people on steam can now play! I’ve logged 400+ hours in it with vorpX and can report that it works well in Z-normal immersive cinema.

The experience is quite immersive thanks to the well done full-body animations, free look, 3D proximity voip, CryEngine graphics, and authentic gameplay mechanics. The kind of immersion that keeps you watching your flank in the woods and flinching at incoming miniballs. That anxious feeling as you reload to trade volleys, knowing you could be next to fall. And of course the constant communication between soldiers and officer commands, making every situation feel coordinated but dynamic.

    War of Rights (Z3D)

I’ve not been able to produce Geometry, but have my hopes that the soon coming Prey profile can work here as well. Fingers crossed. Until then, Z3D still offers a good experience.

    – use a 16:9 resolution for widest view (1920×1080)
    – set FOV to 78 in game
    – set AA to highest SMAA 2TX
    – turn off depth of field

*Use vorpX hotkey “disable 3D” for better iron sights (bind to Right mouse button for hold and aim, or Middle mouse for toggle)
*Be sure to set Rift Audio as both Default Device and Default Communication Device in Windows sound options or you won’t hear voip
*World FOV can be increased further via console “cl_fov XX” but I’ve yet to discover for the weapon model to match. But potential could be there.

I’ve anticipated this game a long time – it has been my favorite online experience this year. I’m happy it plays with vorpX and hope others can enjoy it as well. Just a couple clips to demonstrate game atmosphere and community events:

I probably should have made a dedicated thread for this, but thanks for watching :)

Oh man, I couldn’t imagine playing Dead Space in VorpX. That would be awesome and terrifying all balled up into one, lol.

The circle around the ball is waaay out of whack. The depth is off or something. I’m not entirely sure, but it’s pretty weird.
Just wanted to say I use vorpx a lot with rocketleague so it kinda sucks to look at that bizarre circle all the time :/
    Thanks ralf!

    [removed, see below]

Hope this gets the ball rolling on supporting a few more games.

please, make the same for watch dogs 2 (that uses anticheat)!!!
