you guys are talking about old skyrim….. i guess.
Since the win 10 fall creators update the vram allocation fix is part of the operation system so there is no need anymore for the memory fix (enbboost)of boris.
I have installed 300 mods with MO2 , and the game runs stable …
NMM on the other hand is causing ctd frequently but that is because NMM doesnt use a virtual file system and changes the data directory of syrim , whereas MO use a own data directory .U are better off with MO in any case and avoid reinstallation of skyrim if something breaks ..
And atleast Vorpx and MO 2 work flawlessly together.

    Hi!

Is there a comfort movement option somwhere? Which adds kind of gradient from the sides of the view to avoid getting sick in motion?

I am enjoying vorpx very much, but i get sick in 15 minutes without teleport or comfort movement. with TES Oblivion i can write a mod to teleport, which i did, and then it’s just great to pkay it in vr, but with other games no such luck.

Is there an option to use comfort movement?
If there is no such option i hope it will be added :)
And vorpx doesn’t even need to know if i am moving or not, simply dim the sides of the screen when i press any of the movement keys like w,s,a,d (which can be made configurable).

In directvr, zoom option in vorpx menu seems to work like this, even though it looks strange without the gradient. But it wont turn on and off as i run around, it stays the same.

    Tried searching but found nothing.

    Thanks!

I have lenovo explorer, so most of the games crushin with vorpx after 5-10 min playing. Dont buy it. This is shit software.

Already have it my friend. I bought it for Oculus Rift and I also am getting Lenovo. I would still like an answer to my question though. Anyone know what refresh rate to set for custom resolutions?
    Thanks in advance 🙂

Why is it so important? gta 5 gets 45 fps on gtx 1080 with resolution 2880*2160 and it looks pretty amazing for me, but I cant reach the same quality and fps when changing vorpx options autores. far cry 3 just the same( I want try it even more but nvidia custom resolution don’t let it)

But, the more resolution I make the faster vorpx is stuck. Games crashes, (exept alien isolation – it flowing nice) If I change resolution down, games playing stable longer but not much. Sometimes game unfreezes thru 2-3 min. I anticipate vive pro will have the same problem with more streaming requirements.Vorpx driver will stuck all the time.

Not really important. Just want to make sure I’m doing it the right way. I’m pretty burned out on playtesting different settings and would like to hear from Ralf the refresh rate to set to avoid hours wasted doing it the wrong way. I mostly use it for Skyrim and got it the best I can but havent tried to do it the way Ralf stated above. He just left out the Refresh Rate bit. Plus I only got a GTX970 so I really need to eliminate any unnecessary pixels and fps to squeeze out the best performance.

    Hi,

I tried to search the forum but could not find issue for this.

The Witcher 3 in VorpX I crash for browsing around invetory for more than 1 min. I can see from Process Lasso how Witcher3.exe starts to eat up memory while I stay in inventory (I have 32GB, it crashes around 28GB).
    – If I exit inventory. It will not crash but does not free memory, so if I stayed 30sek it resered 20GB it still keeps this and I can continue to play, if I re-enter inventory is same game instance then it starts to go up 20GB – 25GB etc and will crash. Reload game – reload save game and good to go again…

Easy to replicate. No need to do anything it just eats memory while stayin in inventory.

This problem does not happen if I disable VorpX and play normally. No problem here. This is clearly VorX issue.

My VorpX is in default settings (Configure VoprX -> Full Factory Reset).

Otherwise VorpX work perfectly with Batman, Fallout 4, Skyrim etc. No similar problems. Also other vice Witcher 3 works great, just have to avoid merchants etc.

Sorry if this has already been posted. Please redirect me to right thread if this is the case.

Thank you in advance for your support! And thank you for great product (VorpX)!

    Best reagrards,
    Aki

The replies have made me more uncertain as to what Vorpx is doing.

I honestly don’t understand the reluctance to providing basic information.

Previously you said you were now providing ‘support’ for Mod Organizer ini profiles and you asked for our help with that:

Quick question for Skyrim modding pros

You said “Today I added support for ‘Skyrim Mod Organizer’ managed ini-files to the new settings optimizer. “

Now you say “I can also assure you that definitely no other customization tools like ModOrganizer will ever be considered by vorpX.”

    ???

Anyway, I would like to know what Vorpx ‘support’ of MO profiles means in practice. **What does it do?**

At the risk of repeating myself:

1] What ini edits does Vorpx add to Skyrim’s ini files?

If possible add a note explaining what they do, although *this is not necessary* as I can figure that out for myself.

2] Does it edit only the ini files for that profile which is used upon starting a Vorpx game?

Does it leave other profiles and their inis for the same game alone?

Is the behaviour the same for every game?

If I set the MO profile ini files to read only for testing particular changes will Vorpx crash / fail to hook or just continue and ignore it [the game will start you just won’t have those optimizations] ?

As to the ‘support’ for MO, it would be better just to remove it and say it is not supported, than to have the changes it is making, and even what it is doing, so obscure.

These issues are going to keep coming up again especially when Vortex, the new Nexus mod manager being developed by the programmer of MO, is released shortly.

I want to upgrade to the new version of Vorpx without hours of troubleshooting and wasted time that could have been avoided with a little info.

If you feel this small amount of information is too ‘dangerous’ for your general users to know, fine, then can I send you a support email which you reply to with the info?

    Thanks.

Please disable auto settings if you believe that improves anything. It doesn’t, I can assure you that, the opposite is the case. But if automatic changes make you feel uncomfortable, you can disable them nonetheless. Be aware though that left unhandled ModOrganizer definitely will cause glitches.

So before reporting any glitches/issues you encounter with auto settings disabled please always make sure that these issues also occur with auto settings enabled to avoid reporting issues that do not exist when vorpX can do its job fully.

I can also assure you that definitely no other customization tools like ModOrganizer will ever be considered by vorpX. What I take away from this thread is that you as users of such tools apparently favor complete control over everything else, even if it helps you. Strikes me as rather odd, but it’s your loss, not mine. I don’t have enough time for discussions like this one.

From now on the only official recommendation in case of any issues with a heavily modded Skyrim install is again to please first check whether your issue also occurs with an unmodded version of the game and without any additional tool. Then add your tools and mods back one by one to isolate the mod/tool that causes the issue.

When did I tell him to permanently disable the auto setting?
How can he disable the setting per game if the game doesn’t start so this menu is not accessible?

Your response to my attempt to help is not based on what I’m actually saying. It is “bad advice” the same way any other user’s suggestion in the past weeks is “bad advice”. Repeating one and the same thing about what is good and what is bad without any technical useful information simply means there is no more customer support for Skyrim – a game where most of the players have custom setups. If you have a problem then it is your own fault – don’t try to debug it, don’t ask for help, don’t try to help others. Anything you can try is “bad”, the only “good” is whatever the black box decides to do, even if it doesn’t exactly work.
So I don’t see how my advice was bad, all I see is an attempt to avoid giving any specific technical information to help users debug their problems. It is here in this thread, the same yesterday with my problems with the resolution and with any other attempt of an user to ask a specific question to help them troubleshoot.

The thing is – Skyrim is a very popular game played by lot’s of people who want to tweak it a lot, so at some point helpful hints and info will need to be given.

This is new for the forums. Until recently people discussing specific SKyrim problems were left alone to discuss and exchange ideas. Now after every such post there is an official rebuttal that repeats one and the same thing regardless of what the user was actually saying. That’s why I said that if the community support is no longer welcomed here then no problems, we’ll stop trying to help.

I’m hesitant to say this, mainly because I don’t want to wake up to a forum devoid of all the previous useful posts and information from experience.
That would be a massive loss.
However, since tools exist to migrate forum posts I’d like to suggest that the forum and general website be improved.
I’m thinking of more advanced searches, latest posts since last visit etc.
Perhaps also individual threads for games, for fine-tuning and keeping bugs and tips in tidy threads.
Maybe also an overhaul of the website in general? A new Nexus-type clean design and more accurate descriptions of exactly how vorpx works for each game. The site is bascially the shop front for Vorpx and I think it would benefit from a little improvement in that direction. Especially in visuals.

Obviously if this all means too much maintenance then leave it alone!

Rebooting your PC may be worth a shot. In Unreal Engine games the memory regions that have to be scanned are best described as moving targets in layman’s terms. Uncluttered memory after a reboot can help. Also disable real time scanning in your AV scanner if it’s not Windows Defender. Some more aggressive AV scanners can cause issues with vorpX’s Direct VR scanner.

Apropos clutter: posts like this one are best posted in the “Technical Support” sub-forum to avoid unnecessary forum clutter.

It’s pretty bad in Half-Life 2, where I can get stuck in the walls if the hallway is super narrow. Is this an unavoidable glitch when body tracking is involved?

That’s mentioned on the Direct VR page in the vorpX ingame menu. Understand it as a new mean trick of GLaDOS to confuse you. 🙂

I will take another stab at that for sure since Portal 2 is such a great game in VR, but I can’t promise whether a solution will be possible.

    Hey Ralf,

Just wondering, is there any hope for this? I just got vorpX yesterday mainly for Portal 2, I’m almost fully satisfied with the results after a few hours of tinkering and research, but I have to use “DirectVR” OFF in order to avoid this confusing portal orientation glitch. I suppose it’s considered not fixable?
    Thanks a lot!

Yeah, I’m finding some games have DirextVR while others have been stripped of it. Once I reset the game to default profile, do I import the VorpX profile again? Or do I just avoid the cloud profiles for those effected games until the next update?

I would highly advise against setting the resolution manually when vorpX can do it. vorpX chooses a 4:3 res for the game on purpose. It always selects best possible aspect ratio for a game that has auto resolution support. Widescreen resolutions are a waste of processing power and should be avoided whenever possible for vorpX.

You probably should select a lower resolution quality in the vorpX menu though. 1680p is borderline even for a 1080ti in Fallout4, 1280p or 1140p are the better choices.

If you still want to disable the vorpX auto resolution for some reason, you can do that either per game in the vorpX menu (Direct VR page) or globally in the config app. There is no reason to do that though, on the contrary. vorpX is aware which resolutions work with a game and which do not and selects the best possible one.

Please make sure that the name line looks exactly as shown in the key e-mail.

It has to contain your name followed by the e-mail address in parantheses, exactly as shown in the mail.

Use COPY AND PASTE to avoid typos.

If that does not solve your issue (unlikely), please send us a screenshot of the license dialog after you pasted in the data.

Hi going offline and avoid updating is almost impossible. Vorpx connect automatically to the internet. You need to add an exclusion in ur firewall setting and it mus be set for ingoing and outgoing processes.
I will test this the next days but i guess vorpx wont start without online connection…. due to the nature of mandatory vorpx update …
