I bought vorpx and I thought it would work. I have the vive and have switched it to htc vive mode.

However witcher 3 fails to start
world of Warcraft is not true VR it’s just like a screen put infront of the lens and doesn’t at all feel like true VR. I’m thinking i’m setting it up wrong cos I hear really good stories about this product ( which is why I bought it)

I run withcer 3 from steam. And it always says failed to start unknown reason.

    ESO online doesn’t even hook.

world of Warcraft only hooks when I turn it to dx9 and then it looks crap.

please point me in the right direction here so I can enjoy my product

    thanks

    Warden
you never know about warden. there are rumors that warden does prevent remote process injection. this is a lie. warden can only detect malicious software. if your software injects, it’s more suspicious.
this means: vorpx should be blizzard’s +1 for more customers. getting on the vr-hype right now. but you never know if those idiots will ban your account.

WoW Does use another DirectX feature for rendering
yep, but it has got another feature

    Using WoW with VorpX
sorry for the inconvience, but i didn’t receive an authoring key from vorpx yet.
so you will have to do more work:

1.) rename your wow.exe to wow1.exe (vorpx will raise an error if not doing so)
2.) get the doom profile for vorpx. it uses opengl instead of directx.
3.) make a copy of that profile under “Local-Profiles” -> “Create a new Profile based on this one.”
4.) in the vorpx profile, click “add” and select the wow1.exe file
5.) edit config.wtf and set the following value: SET gxApi “opengl”

now you should be able to create a shortcut to wow1.exe using vorpx.
as mentioned before, it is advised to use this only on free servers.
when using newer wow versions, make sure to check “use 32 bit executable” in the battle.net client.
you will have to change the vorpx 3d-settings manually using the overlay menu.

I was wondering if there is, will be or never will be a demo/trial version of VorpX? For me, $40 is a lot of money to spend on something that may not work with the game I want to play in VR mode with my Vive. FFXIV, in case anyone is curious, though I did see on the list that World of Warcraft was compatible with VorpX. Anyways, I was just wondering if the developers have a trial version or the intent to release a trial version now that the Vive is supported. Thanks! :)

I believe world of warcraft is on the working list , but it depends on the game engine’s google “blankgamename’s engine” and google will usually tell you what it runs on , and if vorpX works with that engine like for example older “OPENGL” or “Unity” then you would be good to go ! , I can also verify that VorpX will work with games with game launchers as well.

I’ve been struggling to get wow to run properly, and I was wondering if anyone could share specific settings for playing.

I can run in cinema mode, but swapping out of cinema mode mode, head tracking doesn’t seem to work properly, does anyone have specific settings they used to get wow to work properly in fpv?

    thanks in advance

For some reason I can’t get Warcraft to hook…neither the 32 or 64 bit version when run stand alone or if run from battle.net. This is the only game that seems to have that issue…I know it’s sorta seeing it because if I run Vorpx but not SteamVR (this is on a Vive) it will bring up the SteamVR environment before launching the game. It renders the video on the monitor instead of the HMD though. Any obvious things for me to check? Is this game not supported on Vive at this point?

I can not believe I bought vorpx just to play World of Warcraft and does not work in 3d …
I’ve spent the same value as the new expansion “Legion” …
I hope that some developer reads this and solve it… should not be very difficult. “TriDef 3D” and “NVIDIA 3D Vision” can. Why not you?

Well thanks for verifying Ralf. Just a heads up, World of Warcraft seems to do the same thing. :/ Even though WoW is essentially unplayable on rift imho, it was cool to try out occasionally. I have gta v,bioshock 1/2/Infinite and halflife 2… all I want is ESO! ugh! lol

Hey Ralf, any idea on when we might see the next update with ESO fixed? I’m extremely bummed about this not working now. :/ I used to look soooo forward to playing ESO after work in VR. Now the game feels so much LESS without VR! *grumbles to self*

    My setup
    DK2 / SDK .8/ Radeon r290x 3GB / 16GB Ram / i7 (4770) 3.4Ghz

Most games on the supported games list still work just fine. Some work even better than before from the looks of things. I just tried Bioshock Infinite. Pretty fun. Works flawlessly. Definitely playable with some setting adjustments. Since ESO and World Of Warcraft BOTH stopped working though, I am weary to even try a new title based on the supported games list… :/

So anyway. I know you said it will be looked at by the next update but I was hoping for a more concise answer than that if possible.

    Thanks

Elder Scrolls online -> Doesn’t launch to HMD; mouse stops working.
World of warcraft -> doesnt launch to HMD; mouse stops working.
    GTA 5 -> Working great!
Half Life 2 -> Working great!

REALLY hoping to get ESO figured out if anyone has any tips. Thanks!

World of Warcraft currently is Z-Buffer 3D (Z3D) only. Generally this means “less 3D” than Geometry 3D (G3D), but roughly twice the FPS.

I bought VorpX a couple of days ago after seeing it listed as one of the games supported for Stereo 3D with the rift in the “Basic Facts” section.

Unfortunately, I just can’t get 3D to work. It launches fine and I can see the game in front as a ‘virtual screen’, which is fine and what I’d expected but the game itself is 2D. I have friends that play WoW with 3D monitors so I know it has stereo 3D support.

I don’t see any World of Warcraft profiles in the VorpX control panel. Are there any settings I can tweak to fix this problem?

    Thank you for your response,

Well, i wish it works in future developments.
i think the 0.8.1 version is a very good base for a very playable World of Warcraft 3D in cinema mode

And sorry if my post isn’t in the good section of the forum :)

Hello and sorry for my bad English

first of all, thank you for this wonderful software
I’ve just finished “Brothers: a tale of two sons” with the new cinema’s mode and it was a very nice experience.

I am also a World of Warcraft player and it’s very playable and fun with this new mode and the magnifying glass function. But it’s not in 3D.
    I’ve tried in direct x 9 and direct x 11, no chance.

Any advice is welcome or is it a limitation off the driver until now or the way working the 3D in world of Warcraft ?
For information, the 3D works with tridef 3D

thank you and have a nice day

    Ralf,

It is not good to use 3rd person as a reason for why World of Warcraft is not working well with VorpX. There are a lot of 3rd person games built specifically for VR and they work wonderfully. Blaze Rush, Lucky’s Tale, and Toybox Turbos are all spectacular 3rd person VR games that play very well with the Oculus Rift. Even some games that were not built with 3D in mind such as Windwaker played via Dolphin VR work very well. There must be an issue specifically with VorpX compatibility that causes World of Warcraft to run poorly.

    Manuel,

If done correctly, World of Warcraft could probably be a fantastic VR experience. The Rift MMO which is very comparable to WoW recently patched in experimental VR support and, while it needs a LOT of work, it displays the endless potential that both 3rd and 1st person MMOs have with VR. I hope that if Ralf decides that there is more that can be done for WoW and VorpX compatibility perhaps the program will support it better. If not, we will just have to keep our eyes open for a more ambitious developer.
