Hi,
I have tested different settings now.
In some occasions the problem was in CLOD too (only VorpX, no Opentrack).
It seems to me, that it has something to do with high antializing settings.
Now I am flying CLOD and 1946 BAT with a higher res. of 2880×2160, moderate graphic details and no or low antializing. Due to high resolution the image is still of good quality and the problem with low fps while head rotation is better now.
Best Regards
On my site,I have to restart the game. I’ve not found any settings in vorpx that helps. I’ve tryed, Cinema Mode, Immersive Screen with geo3d, Z buffer, no 3d. nothing helps. Did I mention that I also have the Epic Store Version.
But I’m surprised what a big step you have done with that release. GTA5 is so smooth with phenomenal grafic settings with constant 90 fps with a rtx2080ti. And the auto switching camera mode is great (when it works)
OK, so I have this about 95% figured out and fixed. On my HMD (Pimax 5K+) the problem is between the FOV and the aspect ratio. Outer Worlds supports only 16×9 and 16×10 ratios even in windowed mode. I’ve found no FOV setting that feels correct with head tracking while using a 16×9 ratio. Using a 16×10 ratio at 3200×2000 pixels and a FOV of right around 110 feels pretty good. I haven’t quite gotten down to adjusting the FOV in 1% increments yet, but those settings have made a huge difference to me.
So for those of you having similar issues with Outer Worlds, try different aspect ratios and different FOVs (just use the in-game settings controls) and you’ll probably be able to correct this issue or at least make it feel a lot better.
I’ve got a ton of these in my event log since the update.

I am trying to optimize the 3d cinemas z-normal mode of Cyberpunk 2077. I am using a Quest 2 headset via Link and my computer is I-8700K OC to 5GHz, RTX3080 and 32GB Ram. My monitor is older at 1920X1080 60Hz. I have created custom resolution higher than my monitor and have been using the higher 2400×2160 and 60Hz which really help sharpen the image.
I have been monitoring my GPU load, etc using GPU-X while playing the game and trying to dial in a GPU below 100% to prevent fps lost. I am aiming for around 80% for not to complicated a scene which can spike up to 99%.
I have set my Quest 2 refresh rate to 72Hz (Auto) but my main monitor is only 60Hz. Does vorpX cap the refresh rate to the main monitor or does it use the Quest 2 refresh rate. Obviously, you want to cap the fps (settings in Cyberpunk) to the max refresh rate to prevent screen tarring. Can I set the custom resolution and select a refresh rate equal to the Quest 2 at 72Hz even though my monitor is 60Hz?
After forgetting to upload nearly 2 years ago, I’ve finally added a profile to the cloud.
The Saboteur (G3D)

ScreenWidth 1920
ScreenHeight 1440

It’s not the perfect fullVR experience, but it’s still a neat way to see the game.
When you lower the zoom, the image becomes crisper since you scale it down, i.e. the pixel density gets higher. However, like said three times now that is not what you want to do since as you noticed lowering the zoom obviously shrinks the image. Instead please raise the game’s resolution for a crisper image. That has the same effect on pixel density without shrinking the image. That costs FPS though.
There isn’t really anything to suggest than that: for a crisper image you have to raise the game’s resolution. There is no way around that. You can’t run the game at 1600×1200 (plus DLSS, which means effectively rendering at someting like 800×600 and then upscaling to 1600×1200) while at the same time get an image fully filling the view of your headset with comparable sharpness to a native game that renders at more than 2000×2000 pixels internally.
Sorry if I’m unable to explain this so that you can understand it better. It is so obvious that I just don’t know how to explain it any other way.
TLDR: The only way to get a crisper image without shrinking it is raising the resolution the game runs with. There is nothing else that can be done to achieve what you want.
Do you even read my replies? You have to raise the game’s resolution for a crisper image. Native games like Alyx at high settings typically render at resolutions of ~2000×2000. If you want comparable image clarity, you have to set a comparable game resolution.
That will be difficult to achieve though at a VR compatible framerate for a game as demanding as CP2077, so you’ll have to make some compromises in the graphics details and/or resolution department (or buy a RTX3090 ;) ).
DLSS: Again: works fine on a monitor or TV, but not so much in VR since your eyes are much closer to the imgae. DLSS actually renders at a much lower resolution than you have set and then upscales the image. That works quite well on a TV or monitor at 4K, but no so well with the fairly huge pixels in a VR headset at a resolution like 1600×1200 where the imperfections of the upscaling process are far more obvious.
Hi,
I am new to Vorpx. I have been watching multiple videos and reading about how to play Resident Evil 7 on my Valve Index. After installing the FOV trainer and all that, the FOV seems to be ok. However, what disturbs me most is the fact that what I see on my headset is way darker compare to what is render on my monitor.
Have you experience this before? Does it have to do with your SteamVR headset settings? Or is it something with Vorpx settings?
My settings are configured for 90FPS and resolution of 3840×2160 (4K)
Any tips?
I’m having the same issue with my Vive Pro Eye, regardless of headset type selection.
Using Revive for Oculus compatibility layer gives the same results as SteamVR.

I have similar issues whenever I make resolution changes to the game, change from full screen to windowed, make vorpx changes like changing room anti aliasing thru vorpx menu or anything that triggers the waiting steam overlay, I get huge fps drop until I restart the game. Also the z3d does not work after making any of these above changes until I restart the game. Once all these settings are dialed in though, the fps and z3d work perfectly. Actually this game is truly great in z3d! Thanks Ralf! I play in cinema mode, have i7-9700k, rtx2070, valve index hmd and controllers, xbox controller. Forgot to mention cyberpunk 2077 had this similar fps drop issue at launch but was fixed.
Hi
I’m trying to get good results as a new user to VorpX with Arma 3
My specs : 10900k. &. 3080
I made a custom resolution which is same as my quest 2 ( 1832×1920 ) & used auto stretch option in arma2 as well as selecting the new custom res
Much better & aspect seems spot on,
just x2 last points below :
1)
But still need to zoom out a tad -when I press minus key for small zoom out that seems about right but can not keep my finger in it
2)
Fish eye still slightly present
Other than that all else impressive
Just need to sort these last x2 points
If anyone has any pointers it would be much appreciated

Hi all
Specs: Quest2 , 3080 , 10900k
I’ve recently purchased VorpX to use Arma3
I’ve setup a few custom resolutions & found the more square ones seem better ( 2048×2160 )
Few issues
View seems slightly zoomed in
no matter what VorpX setting or Arma3 “zoom” , “5×4” etc in res setting option
I tried changing fov in the arma3 config file , I saved it but dont think it’s doing much
Very slight gosh eye type effect when moving head left & right
Any ideas ?
Hi Ralf, thanks a lot for your precious explanation and prompt reply. Yesterday evening I did a reset to default and all my Metro games (Redux and Exodus) are both listened under Restore Game Settings. I also checked the game config file and the FOV line has been changed from default to Vorpx one (59.something to 83). Unfortunately I don’t have original Metro game (I also tried to buy a “base” copy online but it seems that only Redux version is available).
I suppose I need to play with game settings in order to have a good balance between performance and eye candy.
Just one more question. Yesterday I switched from G3D to Z-Adaptive and performance were absolutely perfect also with High settings and a res of 2880×2160 (so even if is not like G3D it is a very good mode with a perfect balance between immersion/graphic/performance).
The “problem” is when I switch from G3D to Z-Adaptive, the scenery colours become more darker and zoom effect seems to be more pronounced like the screen is pushed on my face. May I ask you advices on how mend that darker colours (maybe play with game gamma setting?) and avoid that zoom effect (maybe work with FOV into ini file by increasing it?). Moreover, in order to increase image quality, I try to create from custom resolution a 3200×2400 but when I make the test windows freezed and I have to restart PC (even if I set 60Hz instead of my 144Hz). There are other higher custom resolution (over 2880×2160) which I can try?
Thanks a lot again for your kind support!
