If I launch enhanced edition after setting DirectX11 in Metro graphics menu, it use the official profile, and G3D works, but I can’t access VorpX menu (it’s the first time I encounter that).

If I launch the old version of Metro Exodus as you suggest, I will have the menu ?
I never use DirectVR. Don’t know exactly how it works but the first game I tried was Bioshock Infinite, and DirectVR didn’t give me good results. By adjusting resolution, FOV, ini files, etc. I managed to have native-like VR experience (I noticed no difference with Subnautica Below Zero native), but It took me a while to understand.

But after the first game, you understand you juste have to set high 4:3 resolution, image Zoom at the border of your FOV, game FOV at very large, Clarity FX, 3D parameters if possible, HUD if possible, head tracking speed if needed, and you get a very good experience in every game that allow you to modify these parameters.

VorpX has a mixed reputation, but it’s probably the best program i ever bought. Bioshock serie was incredible with it.

Metro Exodus is in my opinion one the best looking game (Moscou and Volga levels), so I would like to do it with Raytracing (my first try is already impressive in 4k with ultra graphics). But I’ll try both (because it’s true that G3D can be very impressive).

Metro let you choose FOV in ini file and HUD is minimalist so I just have the problem with resolution and Image Zoom (zoom is generaly too high for my headset in every game).

Try the regular Metro Exodus. That one has an official profile with both G3D and Z3D support, also automatic FOV adjustment, better head tracking via the DirectVR memory scanner and other DirectVR features. As far as vorpX is concerned the enhanced version is pretty much a ‘dehanced’ version actually. ;)

    hi thanks for reading.

i’m using the beta vorpx version from the forum.

i searched the forum for this problem and the only page in the first few pages of results that sounded helpful, when i clicked the link, the forum said the post was gone!

i have a good enough system for anything except new AAA DX12 games to run at 200-500 percent resolution scaling, this isn’t an fps problem.

    i have a 90hz wmr hmd, a 75hz monitor, and geforce 2080ti.

i get no stutter/judder in native steamvr or openxr games (so long as i keep fps over 90) this has only happened in vorpx. i also dont get the stutterjudder if i use vorpx in pure 2d mode or even Z3D mode. i have motion reprojection turned off in my wmr settings and my openxr for wmr settings, and of course both are also set to 90hz.

here is when i get stutterjudder in vorpx and how bad:

worst: G3D, DirectVR, Head tracking prediction On (this setting also causes extreme ghosting of moving objects, i found i get less than half as much stutter and ghosting by turning head tracking prediction off)

very bad: G3D, DirectVR (ghosting and stuttering is still too bad to be playable)

bad: G3D, immersive/cinema (might not improve at all, might just look a little better from being less zoomed-in)

i have tried turning all headtracking options to the least judder modes, that doesn’t help. (judderfree, then safe/off) and also disabling headtracking totally, no difference.

some games i get just enough less stutter for them to be playable they just could look a little better in motion (official elder scrolls) other games way too much stutter to even enjoy (cloud profile homefront). official profiles run a little better most of the time, they are playable and enjoyable but the problem is still at least slightly there.

one official G3D profile i tried worked perfectly fine: warband.

all wmr and openxr drivers are newest, regularly updates. never used another hmd so no conflicting settings anywhere. vsync is turned off everywhere it could possibly be turned off.

please read this post before replying, i will ignore replies that dont take account of the info i posted. please also try not to just post one-line replies, explain and offer multiple stages of tweaking in case your first suggestion doesnt work. thank you.

On my System i have to run the DirectVR Scanner a few times until it works correct, and i have to focus a fix point while running the DirectVR Scanner.

    Hi Ralf/guys

Using the official profile from Ralf and it runs very well with Dying Light 2, I have no problem running DirectVR scanner either, so everything seems in order.

Except one thing: the headsync seems not what I expected? When I start the game, before I run DirectVR scanner, I can aim with my head normally. After I run DirectVR scanner (success) everything looks awesome but I can no longer aim with my head. In order to turn around or look around I have to use the gamepad’s thumbstick.

Is there something I’m missing? Is there any setting I can tweak to get both DirectVR scanner and head aim working at the same time? Thanks

i uninstalled then reinstalled the mod, and reinstalled CET, but it no longer works for me. It was OK before today’s small game patch, nothing changed except the patch (I reinstalled CET and the mod after i found it broken). I’ve not deleted and reinstalled the entire game.

I get no 3D reconstruction for DirectVR (but z-normal seems to work), and full VR mode doesn’t work – it’s just an immersive screen but with a slightly bigger screen than regular immersive screen mode. It’s definitely using the mod – i get the intro / help screens about gestures etc

    @ beemzy:

Works fine here. Double check whether you copied the CET update into the right folder. The ‘bin’ folder in the CET .zip has to be copied directly into your CP 2077 main folder, overwriting the existing one.

I’ll upload an updated mod installer later today or tomorrow.

    @ fubar

Either Z3D or G3D with alternate frame rendering.

CET was in the right place. All my CET-reliant (non-VorpX / conventional) MODs worked, just in a flat screen rather than proper DirectVR. I still got the VorpX starting CP2077 menu but the actual game couldnt be started in DirectVR. A clean reinstall of CP2077 and then CP2077 VorpX mod solved the issue

    Hi

    – Cyberpunk 2077 (with VR mod, it was the main reason why I bought vorpX), but played maybe 1 hour, because it zooms view and very uncomfortable. Tried change settings but didn’t get good result.

Try to change 3D reconstruction mode from DirectVR to Z-normal. I have a very bad feeling with DirectVR, but it is really nice with Z-normal (even if 3D is slightly less nice). I don’t play in FullVR mode, but rather in Immersive mode with Mouse/KB/PAD. I use a 4:3 resolution, and ajust the screen zoom to be on the edge of my left/right vision.

    – Fallout 76, same as Cyberpunk 2077;
I don’t play Fallout 76, but my Fallout 4 setting are similar to Cyberpunk.

I have not tried other games yet.

    Correction:
Z-normal and Z-adaptative seem completely not functional with the last beta of Vorpx. Only DirectVR seems functional, but it is almost not usable due to some weird de-synchronization of right/left eyes when the world is moving fast.

    Hi all,

I’m playing Cyberpunk with the latest patches.
I have an RTX 3080, and my computer can easily sustain 45 FPS in VR with 90Hz mode on my PICO 4.

I was using Vorpx 21.3.3, and playing the game with a resolution in game of 1920×1080 with Z-normal. The 3D effect was working fine. However when I tried to add custom resolutions and go up to 2880×2160 (something close to the native resolution of my PICO 4), then the Z-normal or Z-adaptative stopped working. I experimented a little bit and found that for resolutions that higher than my native 2560×1080 screen resolution, Z-normal and Z-adapative are ineffective.

I downloaded the last beta version, and happily found that the DirectVR option is there. Unfortunetly it is not playable when turning with the mouse, both screen seems not synchronized perfectly and the screen is almost unreadable during such movement. I have looked around other topics but nothing clear appears (FPS are still 45 at 90Hz). That’s sad because the immersion is fantastic when just contemplating the world.
Ok so back to Z-normal or Z-adapative, nothing works better than the previous version. So I have to choose between being short-sighted or in a flat world.

Does anyone already noticed such behavior? Is there anything to do ?

    Thanks

And what if I don’t want to use a community profile? How do I get 3D capability working in a game starting from scratch?

For example, I’ve fired up Deep Rock Galactic and VorpX hooks into it. On the first run, there are no 3D options available. The second time I run it, Z-Normal and Z-Adaptive are “available” but don’t actually produce any 3D effect. How do I get it so that they do, and how do I add other 3D options, like Geometry or DirectVR?

Unfortunately I spent the whole week with this shitty nVidia driver bug that pretty much breaks half the DirectVR profiles. I *might* upload a beta build with the ‘The Last of Us’ profile tomorrow, but honestly can’t promise anything. Working around the nVidia bug comes first. Might not look that important to you, but is a catastrophic emergency style top priority for me…

I understand that you *really* want the enhanced edition, so just in case you overlooked the above reply:

There isn’t really any benefit in switching to the enhanced edition just for the sake of its marginally better RTX effects, especially considering how great the original version already looks. The regular Metro Exodus profile supports both G3D and various advanced DirectVR features that you couldn’t even add to your own custom profile if you wanted to invest the time and effort required for that. As far as vorpX is concerned the enhanced edition is pretty much a ‘dehanced’ edition. ;)

    @ Tambora:

Does the AFR3D method (DirectVR in the menu) not work anymore? That should actually be better than the prior G3D since it works with all shadows.

No. The DirectVR option is not available in the menu, it’s not there. I tried all the settings in the menu, reinstalling the game, reinstalling Vorpx beta, deleting save folder, etc. im only getting the z3d option…

If not even the Cyberpunk gestures are to your liking, which even include hand aiming, then the feature is not for you. :( For me stuff like aiming down sights/grenades/wrist flip interaction etc. have become second nature so much in the meantime that going back to pressing buttons is an outright ridiculous thought.

Even without gestures using motion controllers is so much better than a gamepad just because you have your hands free instead of standing/sitting there like a squirrel nibbling a nut… Add gestures to that and it’s not even a fair comparison anymore. What I give you – and not an inch more :) – just as you had to get used to your gamepad, you have to get used to gestures for a while. Then there is no way back.

Make sure not to accidentally disable DirectVR to try them. CP comes with a fairly complex mod integration that among a lot of other things switches gesture sets based on gameplay context. Reset the profile default, let vorpX install the connection mod, read the hints in the start room, and don’t tweak any vorpX setting manually except what the start hints say might be tweaked (resolution + 3D if you prefer Z3D). Plus in your case maybe the sync options to deal with Pimax issues.

Non-hooked games running through vorpX Desktop Theater Mode (whatever you want to call it) do NOT respect vsync.

That is officially weird. If vorpX isn’t hooked into the game, it obviously doesn’t affect VSync. You must have disabled it elsewhere.
