I have it set for seated gameplay. my right controller works fine for wasd but i dont know what keys to change for my left controller to control up and down view. I play in cinema mode and have lenova touch controllers. Ive never used a controller or gamepad before so no idea whqat to do?

If you disable the auto resolution feature, vorpX doesn’t touch any resolution settings regardless of full VR/cinema mode, the behavior you observe has to be caused by something else.

One thing I can think of: please check whether you maybe have a “commandline.txt” file in your GTA V folder from manual resolution experiments. if so, delete it.

Thanks for responding, Ralf. I did have a commandline.txt in my folder, but I only added it after I ran into trouble trying to change the resolution–so it wasn’t the cause.

No, the real reason was even stupider. I’ve been using Notepad+ to change resolution in the Settings.xml file. I changed it from whatever VorpX had defaulted it to, but no matter what I changed it to, the res seemed to stay the same … because Notepad+ wasn’t actually implementing any of my changes. I would make a change and then close the Settings.xml file and I assumed Notepad+ had saved my changes since there was no “Would you like to save your changes?” style message. And when I would open the file up again with Notepad+ I could the resolution I had selected … but that was an illusion. I accidentally opened the file with some other program and was shocked to see that the resolution was still the exact same one that had been set by VorpX. Notepad+ wasn’t showing me the actual file but a phantom, unsaved version of the file. I think I’m just going to go back to regular Notepad.

Try making direct scan without a controller plugged in and make sure to not touch the mouse while scanning. Some games often fail at scanning when you are near walls. Try to go to an open area.

    Hello,

I’ve halso had some trouble with the Vr mod to which Phyzikal was referring to. I’m struggling with controls (using oculus touch). I can move forward or backward, but I can’t turn. Anybody managed to fix this?

Also, now, after the latest vorpx update, is there stil something which the above Vr mod does better than the default setting with vorpx?

DirectVR is a collection of multiple features that help to make games a better experience when you play them on the headset, it is not linked to the kind of stereo 3D that is available for a game. It can take care of resolution, FOV, settings-tweaks and head tracking. Which of these four potential DirectVR options are available varies from game to game.

Oculus Touch/Vive wands work with almost every game, that is unrelated to DirectVR. You can use the VR controllers to either emulate mouse and keyboard (freely configurable) or a gamepad.

Games that have all four potential DirectVR features are for example the ones below, a lot more have support for at least one of the potential DirectVR features.

Skyrim (original DX9 version is usually the better choice)
    Fallout 3
    Fallout New Vegas
    Fallout 4
    Portal
    Portal 2
    Far Cry 3
    Far Cry 4
    Far Cry Primal
    Left 4 Dead 2
    Mirror’s Edge
    Bioshock (DX9)
    Bioshock 2 (DX9)
    Bioshock Infinite
    Borderlands 2
    Borderlands Pre-Sequel
    Dishonored
    Deus Ex Human Revolutions
    Black Mesa Source
    Half-Life 2
    Half-Life 2 Episode 1
    Half-Life 2 Episode 2
    Aliens Colonial Marines
    Dear Esther (Source engine version)
    The Stanley Parable

Hi Ralf, is there a list for directVR enabled games ?

Also, directVR means i can use G3D with low to none artifacts ?

And what about vive wands/oculus touch ? directvr means hands tracking too ?

    thanks

Yes, I suspected you would reject requests for basic information.

I don’t use MO any different to a normal installation for Skyrim.
You misunderstand and over-complicate to think everyone uses it differently, and you misdirect your attention when you think it is mods that are always the problem.
Very few mods touch memory functions or startup, and the ones that do work fine with Vorpx.
My Skyrim installtion is working fine with the *previous* version of Vorpx – with 400+ mods, 253 plugins and a 1080ti.

My only problem is that, for mysterious reasons, you won’t give someone who’s supporting your program any information on how the *new* Vorpx behaves.

If that genuinely is too much, I would again advise you to remove Vorpx’s messing with MO’s files and just say ‘it does not support it’.
MO users can provide support to each other and I and others can stop wasting time asking questions that won’t be answered.

    This is the best option.

And will still be the best option when Vortex releases at the end of January.

I know lone wolf programmers tend to think in bizarre ways, but it’s still disappointing to discover that paying customers asking for basic information about Vorpx’s own features is considered verboten.

By the way I don’t use MO any different to a normal installation for Skyrim.

Very few mods touch memory functions, and the ones that do work fine with Vorpx.

The problem is that you, for mysterious reasons, won’t tell someone who’s paid for your program whether Vorpx changes the ini files for all profiles or just for the launched instance.

It really isn’t that hard, and it won’t hurt.

If that genuinely is too much, I would advise you to remove Vorpx’s messing with MO’s files and just say ‘it does not support it’. Then MO users can provide support to each other and I and others can stop wasting time asking questions that won’t be answered.

    This is the best option.
And will probably be the best option when Vortex releases at the end of January.

And I guesss I will have to find those ini edits out for myself through file comparison since copy and paste for the developer is too much trouble.

I know lone wolf programmers tend to think in bizarre ways, but it’s still disappointing to discover that paying customers asking for basic information about Vorpx’s own features is considered verboten.

Actually, a few years ago someone did make a mod like this for Razer Hydra.

I unfortunately don’t have time to port it to the Oculus Touch and official support seems to be coming anyway.

    I tried again..

First of all I bought the software yesterday, so I beginning to experiment a bit.

Let me thank you already for the great way Bioshock Infinite works. It already justifies the money for the software! Once I type Alt + L the game is really well optimized. The only thing I dont like is the right thumbstick of the touch being a bit too sensible. Can you help me with that?

About Pray 2017. If I undertand it doensn’t still support headtracking, which of course makes it much less immersive. Nevertheless, I think it’s ok just if you just want to take a look to the great enviroments. It also run very smooth (gtx 1070).

On the other hand I cannot get a decent experience with Gta V.. The automatic setting gave me the following setup: no head tracking, a resolution of 800×600, and even with that resolution the framerate was incredibly low. Is there a way to get a better experience with this game? This was one of my main motivation for getting VorpX.
Thanks a lot for any help!

In all of the recent versions of vorpX Black Mesa source has been working as long as I launch it from the bms.exe (thanks Ralf!). It actually works really well except I have this horrible aliasing, but only where some surfaces come together. Most surfaces come together without aliasing, but the ones that have aliasing have horrible aliasing. And not only is it jagged but the jaggies move about like escalators as I move myself in game. It happens whether or not I am using vorpX and VR … but for whatever reason it is much much more noticeable in VR. I tried using both in game anti-aliasing options and amd radeon settings override with anti-aliasing settings and the vorpX sharpness settings … but even if I crank anti-aliasing up, nothing seems to touch the aliasing of these certain surfaces much at all. Anyone have any ideas or know if I am missing something simple? ( I brought this old thread back to life rather than create a new thread for this new question just to note the previous issue was solved for anyone who stumbles into this thread. )

Thanks a lot for the very fast and precise response!

Thanks for the disabling DirectVR idea. I’ll admit, I’ve only tried playing Portal 2 with my mouse and keyboard, so it was quite annoying/impossible to use DirectVR all that time as that involved me needing to turn my head 180 degrees (towards the back of my chair) and away from the keyboard when going through a portal.

Perhaps if I stand and use a gamepad / touch controllers, I won’t mind the glitch if I go slowly through the portals. Thanks again!
