I haven’t tried yet myself, but Beardo claims hooking is possible with the alternate exe provided for modding that disables EAC for singleplayer.

This is good news! When I heard EAC, I figured we were out of luck.

I believe Master Chief Collection is now Unreal 4 based, but not entirely sure. Beardo mentioned he has tried a few Unreal 4 profiles already, but so far no 3D.

When I get the chance, I’d like to try more profiles and run in through the authoring tool and see for myself. Perhaps Ralf may even take interest and get this working beforehand.

$10 on steam. You don’t need to buy the full collection even though the store tries to convince you it is required for dlc.

I try to play this game with G3D but i get graphical errors. Like I see a black or green fog that wont let me see anything.

try with another unreal engine 4 game profile.

    how’s your perf with G3D ? what’s your hardware setup ?

Either they planned it or it is a Unreal 4 Standard thing. Yes the -Vr prompt command worked…but somehow not anymore.

If no other vorpX games hook, you may have anti virus blocking injection, or some other overlay program (fraps).

If you haven’t already, you’ll need to assign a profile to Jedi, as it doesn’t yet have a default one listed in local library.

There are two user profiles on the cloud you can import from for Z3D. Find these inside the vorpX Config app by logging in and search the word Jedi in the top bar.

It sounds like some are getting forms of G3D to work by copying profiles for Abzu and other Unreal 4 based games. You can copy Abzu from your local list and see how that works also.

The earlier discussion posted here, also mentions to disable Origin’s in game overlay, if you are playing through Origin.

I haven’t, but there’s a decent chance for getting 3D based on Unreal 4. Might have some shadow glitches though.

Looks like you can manually edit FOV values in the Settings.ini so that could possibly work well.

Looks kinda cool, think I’ll add this to my wishlist.

Hmm, that might be a tricky one. I can’t seem to find any info on what engine it uses, other than Dead Rising 1, 2, and 3 all used different engines.

Profiles from Unreal Engine 3 and Unity would be my first attempt, as common engines I sometimes get lucky with. I’m guessing DR2 is dx9 based, so you might try the Unreal Engine 3 base profile or one of the older Call of Duties. Then Anna, or Slender: The Arrival which are both Unity dx9 I believe.

Lastly, it might be worth trying with Source engine like Half Life 2 before giving up.

No idea if any of these will work, that’s just what I would try if I had the game.

Might have a chance for DR1 though with profiles from Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen or Lost Planet 2, which seem to share the MT Framework engine.

I’m using an HTC Vive and an Unreal engine 3 game. The geometry is perfect and the objects (like characters) are rendered completely 3D themselves, the problem is that if I move too far off center Vorpx auto-resets my screen and the message “Head tracking re-centered, stay in place to avoid” shows up, this also resets my current position in the 3d world and the camera. This is what I want to disable in order to be able to walk around the space Vorpx renders, even if I get into a black hole if I move too far off bounds xD

Edit: to clarify a bit more, this happens when I physically move around the room, not ingame. In this case what I’d want is to leave the game be and physically move to the 3D objects rendered by Vorpx in VR, without my position/camera resetting.

As always, so many games come out at once. Those publishers never learn, LOL…

But i’m one of those people who are very hyped to play JFO in VorpX. And i just love Unreal Engine’s rendering. Great times ahead!

Any idea why Vorpx won’t hook to Gears 4? I’ve tried other Unreal Engine profiles, but nothing. Not hooking. FYI Using Xbox game pass version

Im not sure if this is the same problem we were having with Outer Worlds not hooking recently, some of us used this method in this thread to get it to hook. Might be able to do something similar for Gears, honestly dont know for sure though.

Looks like new version of VorpX now hooks GoW, sweet !! I used the Unreal 3 profile and it hooked. Theres only Z3d and Zadaptive, no G3d unfortunately but hey it’s progress.

    Excellent work guys !

    (maybe g3d in next version?)

    Hahah!

There’s a few different types of communication… the unrealistically ambitious (i.e. kickstarter’s vaporware), the honest (our Ralf!), the padder (Scotty), and the silence (Valve).

Good stuff! Now back to tapping F5… :)

Really interested in this too, I hope Ralf can make it work somehow, afaik it uses unreal engine 4.

I remember being impressed by the trailer and adding this to my waiting list. I’m still deciding between this and a couple others right now though.

For many Unreal 4 games you can get significant FOV boost by adding this line at the bottom of Engine.ini:

    [/script/engine.localplayer]
    AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV

    …usually found in C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\(game)\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

(if no such file or folders exist already, sometimes creating them can work)

From there you can use a combination of vorpX image zoom and 3D FOV Enhancement to squeeze more view if you need it. You may need to enable expert settings in vorpX config app to use this. Also disable the directVR page in delete menu if it happens to be active in that profile.

3D FOV Enhancement is mostly the last resort though. You can gain a fair amount with it maxed to 1.50 but you’ll notice it comes at the cost of edge culling so only push it as high as you can tolerate. If you must use alot, using an ultra-wide resolution (21:9) can help hide most culling on the sides.

The overall CPU usage doesn’t say much since most games don’t utilize all cores of a modern CPU. You can setup the task manager to display the per core usage, which is a more useful metric. If you see one core used (almost) fully, all is well.

Apart from that try to disable Vsync and whenever possible remove potential FPS caps. vorpX does that automatically for many supported games, but for unsupported ones you might have to do it manually. Many Unreal Engine games for example cap the frame rate at 60.
