I’ve the steam copy of the game but I created the shortcut as advised and its still not working. The best I’ve been able to get working is a blank monitor with the sound coming through the rift. The rift screen just displays the text “Sorry, witcher3.exe is taking a while to load. If this issue persists, please take off your headset and check the app on your computer.” The text appears in the white grid room of the rift software.

I’ve got this exact same problem.

This will happen if you are trying a game that’s not supported. What games are you trying? If it’s a supported game, this sounds like a bug.

The arrows are what you should press, BTW.

This has been an issue for me, too & I’ve seen others report this over the past several months. I played through the DC using Z3D @ 4k on the DK2 last year and it ran great. Now, not so much. I’ve tried both the Director’s Cut & the original & both have problems.

Press alt+F to show fps while using vorpx. Or maybe it’s ctrl+F.

Something is very wrong on my end with Deus Ex Human Revolution + vorpx, especially, when using DX11. I’ve tried both versions. With DX11 enabled, framerates are abysmal, similar to yours with G3D, Z3D, even 3D off. I was messing with it last night. Setting it to DX9 yielded better framerates, but it didn’t seem like ATW was working. Lots of stutter when looking around when framerates drop below 90fps. Other titles, for example, still have buttery smooth headtracking even at 30fps, so it leads me to believe something is wrong with timewarp – either the oculus SDK or vorpx’s version. Also, for one of the games, the Z3D modes defaulted to 0.00 3D strength. When raising this setting, it seemed to alter IPD instead of 3D separation. Also, CPU usage was @ 100%. Weird stuff going on that I think is game specific.

Dishonored, on the other hand runs very well on my system. In most cases, framerates are high enough not to notice issues. I see drops when there are a lot of AI wandering about the larger outdoor areas. In those cases, I switch to Z3D for a spell. The Hound Pits pub is notorious for lower fps, though.

IIRC, what I did was tapped the middle mouse button to use edge peek whenever I went into cover mode. But I mostly just didn’t use cover mode. I play stealthy & avoid combat anyway & when I do engage, I just do it from first person. Not the answer you’re looking for, but it works fine for my playstyle.

I’m not sure about 3rd person, but you can edit the registry to change the fov to 120. I found this text online a while back:

“Just go to: regedit>current user>software>eidos>Deus Ex: HRDC parent directory. The FOV isn’t in the subfolders for the other settings, you gotta stay at the top one. The values are in hex, so you just edit whatever your current setting is to 78 for 120fov. And don’t navigate to the game settings menu in game; that breaks the spell.”

That’s for the director’s cut. For the regular version, there is a similarly named folder.

Thanks for sharing. This does seem to have an impact on clarity and I am not noticing a performance drop.

I highly suggest you use a mod to unlock the physics that are locked to 30fps: https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/psa-bioshock-physics-unlocker/

I also have this problem. It was on & off during the DK2 days, but so far with CV1, I have yet to be able to save any settings I change within the app.

Yes, but it works with Z3D, not G3D. As an aside, it was a kick to visit the world in first person: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEkscEFjgcU. There’s some negative mouse acceleration though, so it interferes with head tracking, making it a bit uncomfortable and not really good for a full playthrough.
