dellrifter22ParticipantI’ve found a better way to do this, no longer needing console commands. Using an FOV Changer is much easier.
I’ve uploaded an improved profile to the cloud, you can read the new instructions here.
dellrifter22ParticipantI hear ya man. I use it daily and am constantly trying lots of different games just to see how cool they look in 3DVR. It really does add tremendously to the gaming experience.
For me it’s like poking your head into the actual virtual world these games were created in and exist – where these NPCs physically and eternally inhabit. Pretty neat feeling. I keep saying more gamers need to try this.
Glad you continue to be as excited as I am. Keep on gamin.
dellrifter22ParticipantThere is a basic first person camera mod I used years ago before vr which you could try to use in conjunction:
You’ll notice it’s not without it’s flaws but still kinda neat.
I seem to recall you can edit the camera distance some to possibly avoid that hair clipping. I might revisit this one day soon.
dellrifter22ParticipantIn my experience there isn’t a way to remove a cloud profile, but you can re-upload the very same one with new saved changes made.
Select it in your local profiles list and click “Share custom profile online” like you did initially. You can now edit the pre-existing name and description if desired. I’ll add an extra “.” or something in description to recognize if the re-upload was successful. You can do this as often as you like.
Note that a copy made of your initial profile will upload as a unique one, so try to use your original one unless you are purposefully uploading multiple versions.

dellrifter22ParticipantIt’s been year’s since I had this working, though I do recall reverting to an older version. My current install is on steam, and I’m not sure if this is possible or not. I can’t even solve the seculaunch error yet on this machine.
Might have better results with a non steam version.
I’ve seen there are some videos only a year old, so it must still work somehow.
Anyway, welcome to the vr club. Should be plenty to see with vorpX as well. Especially fun to see your old favorites in a new way.

dellrifter22ParticipantDon’t think I’ve ever seen Fov Enhancement affect the HUD layer before, strange. Also, changing to Z3D should have zeroed all enhancement as that is a G3D only feature. Might be worth checking that you were using the right Z3D/G3D switch key (not the disable 3D key), if this is quicker than zeroing your Enhancement each time.
Anyway, glad you’ve solved the problem, and that you are enjoying the Pimax8k – which is what I use for vorpX now and loving it.
It can be hard to push fov high enough in most games to look good in Pimax fullVR (vertical almost more so than horizontal). If headtracking is less important to you, I can recommend maxing out the cinema mode with full zoom and full curve (cinema fullscreen as I call it) while using a 16:9 res (2560×1440 or 4k), sometimes 21:9 even. On Pimax normal fov, this is just enough to hide the side edges of the screen, and hide most render culling from moderate enhancement. Something about the curved nature of the screen allows me to get away with much lower fov values and still feel “correct”. This is my favorite way to play anyway.
Enjoy Liberty City.
dellrifter22ParticipantYes, good find and good timing. Thanks.

dellrifter22ParticipantI used the first person mod years ago before vr, but am having trouble getting it to work again on this newer machine. Would need more time and direction to get it setup.
I managed to boot GTA4 vanilla though, and G3D and text seem to work fine. I wonder if your mods break the phone somehow, or the way fov is handled. You’re using the keyboard up arrow to bring up the corner phone correct? I can’t remember if the first person mod puts a phone in your hands.
The Z3D key would have revealed any hidden shaders in case there were any. Maybe make sure all HUD settings are set to full 1.00 in vorpX menu. Or try changing to a more standard resolution, in case you are using something custom. Sorry I can’t be of more help atm.
If you want to keep trouble shooting, try uninstalling a mod at a time to see if the phone gets fixed.

dellrifter22ParticipantIf you can’t see the phone because it’s offscreen in the headset, use edgepeek middle mouse button.
If you can see the phone but the text is missing, try using the vorpX hotkey to temporarily switch G3D/Z3D, in case some HUD shader is misplaced in G3D. I can’t recall the default key, but you can rebind in vorpX config app.
dellrifter22ParticipantForgive me for being a bit late on the update (lots of profile testing to backup), but I’m using it now and discovered one thing already:
The camera height modifier no longer works in cinema modes. It works in fullVR mode, with previous settings needing slight readjustment as mentioned above, but is not responsive in cinema/immersive.
I’m hoping this can be restored, as I use fullzoom cinema mode almost exclusively now for Pimax8k, and utilize the height modifier a lot. It helps greatly for more natural arms/weapon placement (not growing out of my neck), and lowering ironsights a tad when they are too in-your-face.
Thanks again Ralf for the many fixes lately.
dellrifter22ParticipantI’ve not heard any yet, but am tempted to have a try at it soon. I noticed it’s on sale now, though I’m hoping more for a $10 target.
From what I’ve read though, it is Unity based (high chance of G3D compatibility) and includes an fov slider up to 95 degrees, which is good since there typically isn’t any fov ini edits possible for Unity games.
Most other Unity games just need dynamic shadows set to low or off, and the rest should look good. I’m not sure though if the painting capture mechanic in this game does anything special to not translate well in 3D.
I’m not sure if this will get official support, but chances are good that you can get it working adequately already with existing Unity profiles.
dellrifter22ParticipantGlad it’s working and that you let us know.
Take on Mars does seem like it would be neat. Adding to my wishlist, thanks.
dellrifter22ParticipantI believe that makes ini edits that only apply after a game restart.
I’ve found that the main page FOV Enhancement slider only appears after you turn directVR off in the profile. This is probably to prevent conflicts.
See if this enables the Enhancement slider for you, but note that this method can introduce graphical glitches, so should be used as a last resort. Always best to first configure game files directly, use image zoom as much as tolerable, and lastly push a bit further with Enhancement if needed.
For supported games, directVR should do all this for you though.
dellrifter22ParticipantGlad to see another positive review out there. I think vorpX is great and has changed the way I play games. Thanks for helping to get the word out.
I didn’t realize you can use Virtual Desktop as a background streaming service for vorpX to your hmd. Is that how it functions, or do you have to manage vorpX’s screen within VD’s own virtual screen?
Maybe another way to ask would be: does the fullVR mode with headtracking work with your Quest VD setup?
dellrifter22ParticipantIt should read Z3D only for ACOdy. And perhaps Z3D could be labeled in yellow or black to better distinguish.
Looks like there are still many forum profiles to submit to the site. List is looking strong though, good work.
