May 10, 2019 at 3:41am in reply to: Any chance of a non VR version of Vorpx now that 3d vision support is dead? #183802haintsParticipant
Yes, vorpX is the last survivor. I just got into 3D Vision since with migoto it now supports SBS 3D meaning I can use it on my Rift. It’s really good–the best 3D I’ve seen. Not VR though, but sometimes I prefer just playing on a virtual screen anyway. I’m going to keep to the older Nvidia drivers rather than give up 3D Vision.
haintsParticipantAwesome! I was just hoping there would be a 3D profile for this game. Will check it out for sure. Thanks for the thread!
haintsParticipantAtm im playing Wolfenstein New Order. I tried the G3D profile, but it really hurts in my eyes. So I went for non G3D profile and set fov to 120 and having a blast 🙂
But I was thinking if wolfenstein the new colossus works with vorpx?? I don´t mind if its not g3d, but I want to make sure if vorpx can hook to that game?? There is no profiles for it in the cloud.Depth3D works with some OpenGL games like Wolfenstein. Try it.
haintsParticipanti noticed that if i play metro exodus in fullscreen Z3D doesnt work.
if i tweak ini to make the game in windowed mod, Z3D works.
so if you use my profile, tweak your ini accordingly.Steph, I just tried your profile, and it is excellent too! Weirdly, I don’t have the menu issue I do with Dell’s profile.
Good work, both of you guys!
haintsParticipantExcellent profile, dellrifter!
One issue I’m having–the vorpx in-game menu is just a bunch of blank boxes? I have to guess at what I’m adjusting …
And I can’t seem to get fullVR mode running. I get something like it, with head tracking, but I can still see the top and bottom of the screen … using Windows borderless gaming to play windowed in fullscreen for performance …
haintsParticipantTHNX it worked. i found out that anti aliasing option lower than high is making z3d effect dissapear. just for others to know 🙂
That’s weird. I think mine is set to low too. Have to double check!
haintsParticipantNothing I could do would make the vanilla GOG release work. But then I installed this unofficial patch here:
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733
and an HD mod here:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/thief-gold-hd-texture-mod
And now it hooks. Go figure.
haintsParticipantThis doesn’t look like it is running in actual 3D. I mean, the levels might be 3D, but the enemies look like 2D sprites. If you’ve ever played the original Doom in VR you’ll know that 2D enemies don’t translate that well into 3D. They just look like paper cut outs.
haintsParticipantI’d love to see this too.
haintsParticipantOkay, I tried it again with your specific settings dellrifter. It made no difference.
I noticed one strange thing: even though I have it set to full vr, it isn’t actually playing in full VR. It’s playing letterboxed, like in Cinema mode. Do you get that too?
Also it is very clear that depth is messed up/flat because the crosshair has the same depth as the gun, i.e. no depth at all.
haintsParticipant@haints: Installed Titanfall 2 tonight and it’s working great! Being Source engine based, the G3D is as clean as it gets and runs smooth.
I don’t know if the profile’s been updated or not, but I didn’t encounter any depth issues with oculus rift. I did image zoom out about 0.62 and use 0.40 FOV Enhancement to distance the guns away from my face a bit. But 3D was spot on. I can upload my settings if you have further trouble.
The first Titan mission was pretty badass in vr. This is gonna be a fun one. For anyone here who hasn’t picked it up yet, go grab it for $5 while you can. Well worth it.
Dellrifter, yes, please, upload your settings. The results I get with Vorpx are pretty bad so I’m curious to see if your settings would make a difference.
haintsParticipant
I’m curious to hear slydog’s report, as for me things looked great. Aside from the guns being a bit large and close up (possibly making them look less 3D than you expect due to size and fov), G3D was working as it should.
I just tried booting this up again since I was puzzled by what you are describing. What I see is exactly the same as before: there is zero depth separation between your weapon and the environment: Turn and face a wall and your gun is at the exact same depth as the wall–i.e. flat. Look at the ground and your weapon is the exact same depth as the ground. It is a flat, 2D image.
When I brought this issue up at the start of this thread Ralf appeared to acknowledge that the issue is in fact real, writing:
It’s one of the games that render the gun model with an FOV a lot lower than the FOV used to render the world. FPS games often do this to make the gun look good on the monitor, for VR however it’s less than ideal. In some games this “viewmodel fov” can be adjusted separately, but as far as I’m aware no such option exists for Titanfall 2.
haintsParticipantTried both methods Ralph. No luck I’m afraid. Nothing running in the background that I’m aware of and other games hook–just not this one.
haintsParticipantDon’t you get the issue where there is no separation between the background environment and your gun? I found it uplayable like that.
haintsParticipantI’m playing the game on Tridef right now and it works very well. You can no longer buy Tridef anymore, unfortunately. But there is a dischord for it where it is available …
