OgrescarParticipantRalf distributed that profile by mistake.

OgrescarParticipantThe streaming application must be able to capture output from SteamVR or the Oculus Rift. Vorpx isn’t dependent on the streaming software, but it has to be able to capture the output from vorpx to those hmd clients.
If you want to be creative, your could set vorpx to stream to the generic 3d display and use a streaming app that can use the side-by-side output, but I don’t know if there are any apps that’ll do that for the Oculus Go – Maybe the AMD link?
Vorpx can’t convert movies. There’s no depth information in a video stream. There are applications that can do that, but they use an entirely different approach.
My apologies for the misinfo in my previous reply. I was unaware of ALVR, and kind of thought the Go had died after a short and unremarkable life.

OgrescarParticipantYou need a headset that can use your Radeon 480. That excludes the Oculus Go – it uses it’s built-in SnapDragon GPU. The same with any Android device.
I don’t have an Oculus Go. Someone correct me if I’m mistaken.
OgrescarParticipantMy apologies. I was recently researching a cpu upgrade for myself – didn’t mean to confuse.
OgrescarParticipantThe clock speed increase is only about 15%, which is why I stated “if you believe the benchmarks”. The UserBenchmark single-core score and the cinebench single-core scores on nanoreview.net show 50-55% increase. Maybe it’s the zen3 architecture – I haven’t been able to figure that out.
OgrescarParticipantThe single core performance increase should be 25-50%, if you believe the benchmarks. The 5800X is a Ryzen 7 series, not Ryzen 5, but it’s single core performance is only about 3-6% over the Ryzen 5 5600X – so for gaming, the 5800X is kind of overkill.
OgrescarParticipantYeah, that’s really dark. There are probably some shadows that need to be suppressed with the shader editor tool.
OgrescarParticipantI’m not an expert on headsets by any stretch, but I’m guessing that pimax 4k/8k has the highest resolution. The tradeoff for the higher resolution is a reduced refresh rate, so you have to decide if you want 4k@60fps or 2k@120fps (just an example – not actual numbers from anywhere).
OgrescarParticipantI don’t play WOW but I have it installed, and it works fine with my Rift-S. Not that it matters – the headset brand is irrelevant.
OgrescarParticipantYou can adjust the gamma in the vorpx display or image settings. But I think the game is supposed to be that way – don’t go out at night because it’s really dark and cold.
OgrescarParticipantThe note only applies to the base profile, i.e. Ori and the Blind Forest. Maybe someday Ralf will remove those messages from custom profiles or provide a way to edit them, but until then, just ignore it.
OgrescarParticipant1.) There aren’t any games that “support” vorpx. If you want a list of games supported by vorpx, you can get it here – https://www.vorpx.com/supported-games/
2.) 4K in VR is beyond the capabilities of most hardware, but that depends on the game. It’s rather pointless though unless your headset has a matching pixel density. The oculus rift-s has a physical resolution of 1280×1440 for each eye, so you’ll get a supersampled (downsampled) image at higher resolutions.
3.) Mouse and keyboard are supported if the game supports it.
OgrescarParticipantDirectVR only works with official profiles.
OgrescarParticipantHave you tried any other dx11 games? Portal is dx9 – may be a hooking issue.
Make sure you don’t have any overlays running or an anti-virus stopping it. You can also try the alternative hooking method or disabling overlay blocking in vorpx config, and running the game in windowed mode.
OgrescarParticipantI took a look at this a while back. Trine 4 uses a new renderer which doesn’t support stereo, unlike the previous games. I had some moderate success in finding a z3d profile that would work, but as I recall, most of them had objects that were out of place on the z-axis. Many of the profiles I tried caused the game to crash on startup.
The developers sort of blame the demise of Nvidia 3D Vision on their decision to not support stereo – not enough resources to spend on a dying technology.
