Ya, the dying light ‘hidden oculus mode’ is awful. just play it with vorpx
TheBaltParticipantIm also unable to hook the Steam version. I cant use the Definitive Version with my graphics card, but I can play the original just fine on my monitor – but it wont hook to Vorpx. When I try, the game just loads to a black screen or loads to menu but no Vorpx hook. Tried with alternative hooking, hook helper, etc and nothing got it to work. In DX11 mode as well.
TheBaltParticipantI now know how to use Reshade.
But there is a problem.
When I launch Reshade and Vorpx, I get an error because of dxgi.dll.
However, if I rename dxdi.dll to something else, Reshade will not be enabled.
What should i do?Load into Vorpx Desktop Viewer, go to Image Settings and change the Stero Image from Mono to SideBySide, and put the game at full screen. I use this to play Doom Eternal in VR (z3d obviously, cant move head around, but it works and demons are in 3d)
TheBaltParticipantDont know about these games but you can use that same mod for Doom for Heretic and Hexen
TheBaltParticipantI increased deadzones in Steam config app and drastically lowered look speed for controller and mouse – didnt 100% get rid of the stuttering, but it helped, if anyone else runs into this problem
Jun 20, 2021 at 12:54pm in reply to: Large Dark Souls 2 Fan Mod Released – How to play DS2 SotFS in 1st person VR #204806TheBaltParticipantBig concern with this is online, Ive heard they ban you without warking for hooking with cheat engine or any other app like vorpx into the game. Whats more game would “remember” if a character you have played offline used any apps that hooked to the game (i.e. potential cheats) and ban you if you go online with that character.
Unless it only concerns DS3, maybe DS2 is different.
oh ya, i apologize for not mentioning that – but even to install the mod you must delete all your previous characters (obviously just move them to a seperate folder while you play the mod) and do a clean install when you wanna go back to Dark Souls 2 regular. I should have mentioned that.
That being said, there is also a new big mod for Dark souls 3 called Convergence that has kinda blown my mind, tons of new spells, including new classes like Necromancers and Druids that can summon zombies/animals to help. Major emphasis on magic, all new magic effects… and you can get that into first person vr as well. Heres links if anyones interested.
Mod convergence:
https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls3/mods/672?tab=filesMod with first person option, no need to tweak it like Dark souls 2’s first person mod:

I had my Rift crashing my entire PC constantly for a few weeks and finally checked in device manager and crash reports and it was USB failing mid game causing me to kick to desktop or crash entire computer.
Just an idea, may or may not be it.
TheBaltParticipantIs there a way to bring up an ‘in game’ keyboard for this game and all the terminals? Thats the only reason I havent tried a VR playthru of it yet, taking headset on/off for keyboard parts just seems like a hassle.
TheBaltParticipantAlso, in the Vorpx in game menu make sure to turn sharpness up, I usually do that with every game. 1440p + Vorpx max sharpness usually cleans up any image issues I have
May 30, 2021 at 9:09pm in reply to: Deus Ex Mankind Divided – How to get it to hook? Has a Splash Screen #204412TheBaltParticipantScratch this, got it working, had DX12 set to ‘on’ by mistake. Works just fine after you disable that
TheBaltParticipantWorth saying that Big screen VR allows you to flick to 3d sbs. I’ve used it in the past to play Tomb raider.
Another app worth looking in to for sbs gaming would be Helix, available on steam.
Just to add – unlike most stuff, im not sure about Big Screen VR; but Vorpx Desktop viewer w/ Reshade still includes Headtracking, in the event you wanted headtracking still in a game that was SBS 3d
Got Doom Eternal in 3d w/ Headtracking this way
TheBaltParticipantThis is a total shot in the dark, but bare with me.
I dont think this game has any ‘real’ 3d elements, might be wrong, but I suspect there isnt a single Vorpx profile to use to build off of this.
That being said, there is potentially a trick you could do, that -might- get you what youre looking for.
Reshade has a 3d option that does Side by Side 3d, which you can use Vorpx Desktop Viewer to view in 3d.
So, get Reshade, then when youre ataching Reshade to the game, make sure to include “Depth3d by BlueSkyDefender”. Let it all install into the game.
Once its installed, skip the tutorial or go thru it, doesnt matter. But press “Home” to activate the Reshade menu and select “SuperDepth3d_VR”, click the box for that and then, in the bottom right, click “performance mode”.
Launch Vorpx Desktop Viewer. From there you will get an option in the “Image Settings” for Content Type and select “Side by Side”. Switch back to FF7. That – MAY – make the game 3d, I honestly do not know because I dont have a copy of it.
Good luck.
Just google “Reshade” to find the most recent download of it, its quite simple, pin it to your taskbar, then itll ask you to pick the game you want, pick FF7, itll ask you which graphical options you want, skip everything except for the “Depth3d by BlueSkyDefender”, itll handle the install on its own from there once you press OK.
If you want more help, give me your steam name and I can chat with you on there about it
TheBaltParticipantAs far as Ive ever used it – I could be wrong, but Vorpx doesnt ‘create’ a SBS image for you to use in Desktop mode. That being said, if the content is SBS (movie or a game with Reshade or Geforce 3d) you can select a setting in the Vorpx Menu while in Desktop Mode under “Image Settings”, go to “Stereo Type” and change to Side by Side.
Again, the -content- has to already be in SBS mode on your monitor for it to create the 3d effect. Thats as far as I know, though. This could not be 100% accurate, but thats what I know about it. Sure someone else can expand on it further, but if youve already got content that is SBS that you want to use, that should make it 3d in the headset.
TheBaltParticipantId recommend just going with Znormal. G3d had issues for me in multiple areas – cant remember specifics but invisible walls like in the fight at the beginning and other stuff; plus, you can boost settings like resolution in znormal. G3d unfortunately doesnt play very nice with that game. I doubt youll miss leaning around too much for it to bother you after a little bit of playing. Hope you enjoy either way, was a great experience
TheBaltParticipantThat would require the game devs to implement an OpenXR rendering path to their games. Unlikely to happen for the majority of games that have already been released. Many future VR games however will more likely than not use OpenXR instead of SteamVR since OpenXR is supposed to eventually replace the vendor specific runtimes.
understood, thanks for taking the time to explain. hope you have a good weekend. and thanks again for sharing that, performance in game just skyrocketed due to that, i appreciate it
