RalfKeymasterFirst please understand this:
The gamepad override is necessary in many games that can’t handle mouse and gamepad input at the same time for mouse based head tracking: whenever vorpX emulates a mouse for head tracking the only viable alternative in affected games would be no gamepad at all.
If in an official profile the override is enabled, you can be 99% sure that is enabled for good reason.
That said:
You can configure (and disable) the override on the Input page the vorpX menu. If you either dont’ want head tracking or just want to check whether maybe inj a user profile the override is enabled although that wouldn’t have been necessary, there is no harm in trying.
If afterwards you encounter any headtracking dropouts or other strange input glitches, the override was necessary and you have to turn it on again.
RalfKeymasterFirst the obvious one, to get it out of the way:
Please check whether you actually saved the changes in menu. Just clicking ‘OK’ does not save changes, you have to click ‘OK&SAVE’.
If that is not the issue:
Please send a bug report to support at vorpx com about this, including the name(s) of at least one affected profile. I’d like to check whether I can replicate the issue.
RalfKeymasterTry different presets in the game’s video options. For me all presets worked, but earlier someone apparently could only make it work on maxed out settings. Also try switching between windowed/fullscreen.
RalfKeymasterCompletely glitch-free G3D in this case would require changing code in various shaders. bravekat’s suggestions above should help a lot without that though. Not overdoing it with the 3D strength and reducing shadow quality often helps to make G3D with glitchy deferred rendering effects playable. Avoid DLSS, that didn’t work at all in my tests, the other two AA methods should work fine.
Personally I’d simply stick with Z3D here though. At normal strength values both are so close to each other that G3D isn’t really worth the performance penalty at all in this case.
I will look into DirectVR (i.e. direct camera access) for 3D and more, but no promises in that respect. If possible at all these things take time. If you want it all, you need a bit more patience than a mere few days after a game release. :)
RalfKeymasterI haven’t tried that myself yet, but it should be possible to use gestures with the vorpX desktop viewer. Let me know if not.
RalfKeymasterThe download count in the config app doesn’t mean anything for official profiles since they don’t have to be downloaded manually. Official profiles are distributed via vorpX updates and in between full updates via the automated database update when vorpX starts. So unless someone disabled profile updates official profiles get downloaded via a different method.
BTW: I wouldn’t count on VR being the future of gaming. The big days of PCVR are over since quite a while and as far as VR in general (including standalone) is concerned, IMO pretty much everything hinges on how much longer Mark Zuckerberg or his shareholders are willing to sink 10+ billion (almost 14 in 2022) dollars per year into it, which Meta/Facebook does for several years now. I’m actually constantly surprised they haven’t pulled the plug yet considering how many years the whole thing doesn’t work on a large scale already. But hey, what do I know.
RalfKeymasterAh, I see. I’ll make sure that newly copied profiles get flagged as ‘tutorial finished’ directly on creation. That will do the trick without the need for an extra option.
RalfKeymasterYou only have to click through the tutorial screens once per game/profile. On subsequent launches you can proceed to the game directly, indicated by the pulsing hint/sign above the screen.
RalfKeymasterProbaly some graphics setting that is incompatible. Try the medium detail preset and go from there.
RalfKeymasterOpenGL support is not an “official” part of vorpX, otherwise it would be called vorpGLX. ;)
OpenGL has always been and always will be more of a personal pet project, so don’t hold your breath for anything in that regard. Support for newer, shader based OpenGL versions may happen at some point, but may also never happen at all.
RalfKeymasterThere haven’t been any changes at all that could potentially have caused your issue. Try to redownload the user profile.
The only notable change has been a new system for applying game settings changes to deal with an nVidia bug. That doesn’t affect any user profiles though, only official ones with automated settings changes.
RalfKeymasterIs there any ill effect besides the message being displayed? If not please simply ingore it.
RalfKeymasterReinstalling should suffice normally. If you happen to use any other antivirus than Windows Defender, exclude the vorpX program folder or – better – get rid of it altogether. There isn’t really any need for invasive third party AV since Defender got good enough almost a decade ago.
RalfKeymasterDid you check the FAQ post on top of this sub forum?
I bought vorpX before but don’t have the web installer anymore.
Please request a new download link here.
RalfKeymasterThat is decisively weird, should also work fine windowed, that’s how the profile was created.
