RalfKeymasterMicrosoft Store games are protected against hooking into them. Unless the game is released as a regular Windows game at some point (e.g. via Steam), don’t count on vorpX support.
RalfKeymasterI’m not 100% sure if I understand the issue, but if I do, it might be related to positional tracking being enabled. If you encounter something similar in the future, check whether positional tracking is enabled and turn it off for testing purposes.

RalfKeymaster@ martin: Direct VR scan reliability has nothing to do with the game’s resolution. vorpX sets a resolution with an aspect ratio that is best in terms of performance, overriding that manually is not a good idea unless you are 100% sure it causes a specific issue. You can choose a preferred quality on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu.
If the FOV scan doesn’t work reliably on your machine, you can however adjust the FOV manually by following this guide:
@ nieda: advising new users to turn off half of what vorpX can do is an even worse idea than doing that yourself. Please do not make things hard for others even if you insist on making things hard for yourself. Thanks for considering this in the future.
RalfKeymasterJust a short heads-up that the thread has been made a “sticky” thread to make sure it doesn’t get lost.
RalfKeymasterPlanetside 2 had to be removed from the supported games list quite a while ago unfortunately when they added anti-cheat software to the game that prevents vorpX from hooking into it. A real shame, it worked quite well before that and was really fun to play in VR.
RalfKeymasterThe only things that aren’t allowed are piracy related matters including everything that circumvents any kind of DRM. Unless your fix doesn’t circumvents/bypasses a game’s (or 3D Vision’s) DRM, you can freely post it, of course.
Rule of thumb: since 3D-Vision is restricted to certified hardware, which is how nVidia makes money with it, everything that circumvents this hardware restriction is to be considered a DRM bypass that (for hopefully understandable reasons) cannot be discussed here.
RalfKeymasterUE4
There is no profile that works with all UE4 games, but there are a couple of profiles that work with different UE4 iterations, so the chance of getting basic Geometry 3D working with unknown UE4 games isn’t too bad.
Off the top of my head: Abzu, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, The Turing Test, Conarium.
Lenovo/WMR:
I have a Lenovo here for WMR testing. WMR headsets have their advantages and are definitely worth a look for someone who wants to buy a headset. But of course there are also things that Rift/Vive do better, so if you already own one switching between current headsets doesn’t make too much sense in the end if you ask me. Every single one has its pros and cons.
RalfKeymasterThe bad news: looks like the game uses different textures for the depth buffer in multiplayer/singleplayer now.
The good news: while checking this I had an idea how to track changing depth textures better than it was done until now. Long story short: should work fine again in the next vorpX version.
Various other games that are known to be shaky in this regard will be looked into too, so similar issues in some other titles will hopefully be a thing of the past in most cases.
Big thanks for the heads-up, without it I wouldn’t have had that idea.
RalfKeymasterNo recent profile changes. Try to reset the game’s graphics settings to default and go from there. Various settings can have an impact on the heuristics that vorpX uses to figure out the right depth matte. Typical examples are antialiasing or a game’s internal upscaling, which sometimes may lead to the z-buffer heuristics failing.
Also ALT+TAB out and back into the game as well as a game restart can help in case a game changed the texture used for the depth buffer while running.
RalfKeymasterIt’s one of the games that render the gun model with an FOV a lot lower than the FOV used to render the world. FPS games often do this to make the gun look good on the monitor, for VR however it’s less than ideal. In some games this “viewmodel fov” can be adjusted separately, but as far as I’m aware no such option exists for Titanfall 2.
Apart from this glitch I found the game working outstandingly well with unusually good performance for a game that new.
RalfKeymasterDon’t remember that from doing the profile, have to check it.
What you could try is checking whether antialiasing is enabled, especially if you maybe are forcing it in the graphics driver. In a few games that can cause a massive fps drop with vorpX.
RalfKeymasterFOV is adjusted automatically by vorpX for No Man’s Sky, so no need to do that yourself.
The best way to handle HUD/menus in games where vorpX can’t scale the HUD is the EdgePeek function (mouse wheel/right thumbstick button click). It allows you to temporarily zoom out whenever you want to look at screen corners/edges.
RalfKeymasterDoesn’t really seem to be finished yet.
What you could try is Morroblivion, which uses the Oblivion engine. Provided it works, it would probably not only run a lot better than MGE-XE, but also support DirectVR. Never tried it myself though, so I’m not sure.
RalfKeymasterPlease do not discuss cheat protection bypasses here, sorry. Even more so please don’t post or ask for links to anything that seems even remotely illegitimate – doesn’t matter whether it’s strictly illegal or not. Thanks.

RalfKeymasterThe way this works with direct mode is a bit different. What counts is the per eye resolution (1080×1200) and you also have to factor in the lens distortion correction which reduces resolution in the center and thus requires games to be rendered at a slightly higher res to get the best possible quality.
The best possible resolutions are the resolutions listed in the “Custom Resolutions” section of the vorpX help or alternatively in this post.
If you let vorpX do its job instead of trying to do a better one yourself, for many games you can simply select a preferred quality in the vorpX menu after adding the custom resolutions to your PC. vorpX will then automatically set the best resolution for that game that fits your selected quality. vorpX can do that for almost 150 games now.
