RalfKeymasterSounds as if the profile doesn’t get loaded when the game is started.
Please try a full factory reset (config app/trouble shooting page) or alternatively an uninstall/reinstall to make sure the profile database is intact.
And just in case please check whether maybe you renamed the main .exe files for these games. That would prevent vorpX from identifying a game and thus the profile could not be loaded.
RalfKeymasterI am aware of your posts, no need to make a new one every six hours. However, the issue could not be reproduced so far. Without being able to reproduce an issue there is no way to make any useful suggestions unfortunately. The issue will be looked into further after new year.
RalfKeymasterNo, the cause of the issue has been identified. It only happens until the ini file is created.
You can safely ignore the crash. As soon as you play games where vorpX actually changes settings, the crash goes away and those games show in the list.
RalfKeymasterSince sometime 2016 until recently Star Citizen crashed shortly after starting the game. Surprisingly vorpX 17.3.0 apparently hooks into alpha 3 again, so I will check whether a basic profile makes sense or not. No promises, don’t expect anything, but it will be looked into.
RalfKeymasterThe thing is that actually most DX9-DX11 (+ older OpenGL) games “work” with vorpX one way or the other unless there is an issue that prevents vorpX from hooking into them.
In the most basic way that means games without a profile that are shown in 2D. That always “works” in cinema/immersive screen mode, and if there is a way to adjust the FOV to something headset compatible, it can provide a fun experience even in full VR mode. Not everyone’s cup of tea, of course. A notification shown on start makes it very clear that such a game is not a supported game.
The next step in unsupported games that work are user created game profiles that can be created in the config app and are uploaded to the cloud. Such a user profile can (but doesn’t have to) have basic 3D, but usually no game specific shader fixes (shadows, HUD, fx fixes etc.), and of course none of the “higher level features”.
And so on up until game profiles that have every single feature that vorpX provides of which there are plenty by now.
RalfKeymasterThe optimizer is – massively enhanced – now part of the core app and does its work in the background when you start a game with an optimizer profile.
Excerpt from the release blog post:
New Direct VR Settings Optimizer
The new Direct VR Settings Optimizer superseeds the old config app optimizer, providing more automation and new features like perfect FOV and optimized game resolutions. All 90+ optimizer profiles have been redone to take advantage of this new system and new optimizer profiles have been added.

RalfKeymasterThanks. The best thing is that the infamous semi-random $&%$*$ no Geometry 3D in GTA V bug is gone. Even better that it only took a single week to fix it…
RalfKeymasterIf you have an nVidia GPU, your desktop resolution doesn’t matter, with AMD you are limited to the desktop resolution.
The “Custom Resolution” section in the vorpX help that I mentioned above answers your questions.
RalfKeymasterIf you can’t add the custom resoutions, vorpX will still work fine. Adding them is a purely optional step to enhance the experience.
RalfKeymasterGames can run at any resolution with vorpX, that is not directly linked to your actual headset resolution. The resolutions that are listed in the help work good with vorpX in any headset.
RalfKeymasterThere is a “Custom Resolutions” section in the vorpX help explaining in detail which resolutions to add and how to do that.
That section is also mirrored here in the forum as a sticky thread.
RalfKeymasterYou can safely ignore both issues.
The Real Myst profile is flagged as hidden mistakingly, doesn’t affect its functionality. It will still be used when you start the game.
The “Restore Game Settings” crash just means there isn’t anything to restore yet. As soon as you played games where vorpX actually changed settings, it will go away and you will see those games in the list. Sorry for such a rather stupid glitch.
RalfKeymasterYou need a new key for a new request code. To get a new key, simply send an e-mail with the new request code to register |at| vorpx com. In most cases getting a new key doesn’t take more than a few minutes.
RalfKeymasterYeah, in Oblivion FOV unfortunately resets itself after talking to NPCs and at similar occasions, that’s the one remaining nuisance, all other glitches should be fixed with this release. Supposedly there are FOV mods that can override the normal game FOV. Haven’t checked myself, but 112 would be the right value with default vorpX settings if you find one on Nexus mods.
Otherwise ALT+V restores the FOV with a vorpX shortcut, with that the occasional resets should be bearable.
RalfKeymasterCool, glad you solved it.
