    Hi everyone,
i hope i can explain my problem good enough for you to understand..:)

i bought vorpx and Battlefield 4 is the first game i am trying to get to work.
i didn´t have any issues with starting the game itself and it seems to work without any problems if i use mouse and keyboard.

but as soon as i plug in a xbox 360 controller (of course before i start the game) and try to look around (with the right stick) the view “jumps” (please excuse this description, it´s just because of my lack of english knowledge^^).

Everything works fine without the gamepad.

i also tried to use the “handle gamepunkt internally” option and so on but i didn´t have any successn with that.

i also attached a video to show you what i mean.

I hope someone can help me..
    thanks in advance.

Battlefield 3 is Z-Buffer 3D only which is very fast, but the 3D effect es not as natural as with Geometry 3D. Weapon scale: that is the case with many games not made for VR. In a normal shooter weapon models often are larger than they would be in reality to make them look good on a monitor. Not much a driver like vorpX can do about that in most cases.

Game optimizer entry added just means that there is now an entry for a game in the Game Settings Optimizer database (vorpX config app), which you can use to apply essential fixes like an enhanced FOV etc. easily with a click of button.

Hit ESC in Battlefield 3 to pause the game, then you can navigate the vorpX menu with the mouse. Alternatively you can use the cursor keys and the Enter key to navigate the vorpX menu.

Battlefield 4 can be a bit finnicky, you might have to try a few times. Please also try the things below:

    1. Disable the in-game overlay in Origin.
    2. Switch from the 64bit to the 32bit version of BF4 or vice versa. Maybe one works better for you.
    3. Go to offline mode in Origin. This circumvents Battlelog and might help with vorpX. However, you will loose online gaming, so do this as a last resort only.

I have done all 3 of those things and it still doesn’t work. :(

I managed to get it running, but with no 3D.

    1. Create a copy of the DragonAgeInquisition.exe and DragonAgeInquisition.par
    2. Rename DragonAgeInquisition.exe to Battlefield4.exe
    3. Rename DragonAgeInquisition.par to Battlefield4.par
    4. Set the Oculus Rift to extended mode as primary display

I would like a list of games exe’s with geometry 3D support, preferably by engine type, this is because I am trying to run battlefield 4 and I can’t change my FOV, if I could find another game exe to rename my battlefeild 4 exe to I could maybe use the 3D FOV enchancer so i can play this game in the rift.

I found that renaming the exe to DXHRDC (deux ex, human revolution, Directors cut) allows me to do geometry 3D, but no 3D fov enhancement.

Hello! I`m veseliy_kit – a member of largest Russian multi-gaming community THE RED. We are interested in series of broadcasts with Oculus Rift and VorpX. So, we can make some streams (Arma, battlefield 3, and others) with your logo on stream. What do you think about it? Regards, veseliy_kit

Alright I finally got Battlefield 4 to work.

The fix for me that finally got it working:

    Step 1: Launch Origin

Step 2: Right click on battlefield 4 and go down to Game Properties

Step 3: change “When Launching this game” to “Battlefield 4 (x86)”

Step 4: check mark “disable Origin in Game for this game”

It fixed the game and gave it “3d”, but it doesn’t track your head movement nor position. Plus when i click escape, the game gets blurry, but no menu options. It doesn’t freeze, it just ain’t any menues there :S

And how can i get it to work with wow?

Not quite sure what you mean here… Do you mean it’s not showing the same image to both eyes (one image across the whole screen, each eye is looking at one half of the image)

If you’re having trouble with it showing two different images to each eye, try playing the game via the 32 bit client (Right click BF4 in Origin, hit “Game Properties” and change the dropdown menu “when launching this game” to X86).

If you want to run it in 64bit, make a vorpx shortcut to BF4’s 64 bit .EXE (to make a shortcut, right click on the little vorpx icon on your taskbar, hit “Create Desktop Shortcut” and find “bf4.exe” in your origin games/battlefield 4 folder). I’ve found this usually makes the game work properly if you start vorpx, start origin, run the shortcut(which won’t actually start the game, it just tries to make Vorpx recognize BF4 64 bit as a useable process), and then join a game via battlelog… Sometimes it doesn’t work, just have to close BF4 and run the shortcut again, and then join another game.

You will have to do this every time you want to play BF4… If you don’t want to go through all that, just run it in 32 bit.

Its in 1080 and setting IPD to 64 fixed the blurry problem though I dont know why this happened since I had vorpx and oculus config set to 67mm and bf4 in vorpx was fine. I tried in all the different modes… geometry, zadaptive, etc

Fov is set in morrowind graphics extender to 120 as I read in several guides that this is the fov needed.

tried with morrowind + 3.0 overhaul and all i got was either all red or all white textureless scenes.
I tried turning “distant lands” option off because i heard it can cause this but no luck turning it off.

I then tried changing the morrowind graphics extender from mge xe to the older version 186 but kept getting errors from the overhaul installer.

I then did a fresh install with morrowind 3.0 but this time used the older v 186 graphics extender and distant lands shutoff…. still got the textureless mess.

By the end of the night I had reinstalled it 4 times and couldnt get any combo of settings to run with the overhaul,
I ended up doing a fresh install with just the mge xe graphics extender installed and finally got it to work….
its pretty cool but is way too glitchy still, now instead of the whole world being white and textureless, things look fine but every couple of seconds whole walls and buildings will glitch out and disappear leaving blue textureless voids where they were.
Also i noticed scale seemed weird like all npc’s looks huge and when looking at there feet it looked like looking down from a mile high canyon. I have fov set to 120 and played around with the vorpx settings but never got it to feel quite right.

I could of lived with it but the buildings and walls glitching away every other second just made it unplayable so I gave up.

I read that ralph used the morrowind overhaul 2.0 for vorpx but I cannot find anything but version 3.0.

I dont know what the deal is. Ive tried 2 different versions of the main game files, made sure all drivers and dx are up to date. Tried all different co figurations of overhaul.

I also noticed i was only getting fps in 30’s and 40’s….
this shouldnt be the case as its just vanilla morrowind with the graphics extender installed….no other mods.
battlefield 4 was running fine in vorpx off the bat so i dont know what the deal is but spent a whole day trying to play morrowind with no luck.

Alright I finally got Battlefield 4 to work.

The problems I had to deal with:

Optimus Nvidia driver not switching from intel to Nvidia with Battlefield and other games. I have dealt with this problem in the past and unfortanatly a reinstall of the entire system fixed it on my older system and it also fixed it on my new system which is a Sager NP7330 13″ notebook with the Nvidia 765GTX card optimus technology.

I really didn’t think I was going to get the Oculus Rift working well on a laptop with a switching graphics card. The reinstall seemed to have fixed my switching issues.

Now for Battlefield 4 and VorpX troubles. I pretty much had the same experience as many other users in this forum where I couldn’t get VorpX to work with any games for a week or more. I was about to give up and then there was a friend who I really wanted to show BF4 to in the Oculus so I sat down tonight and went through the forum posts all over again.

I made sure all apps using 3d are turned off such as Windows Aero, and I couldn’t find anything else since i have a fresh install of Windows 7.

I am using Oculus DK2 in extended mode as primary to get this to work.

Now I had seen suggestions to use VorpX to create a shortcut for battlefield and this didn’t work for either exe.

I kept wondering if I was actually launching the game in 32 bit mode. I checked task manager and nope, running in 64 bit still when I thought I was using the 32bit shortcut.

When I launched the game it worked. Then I had to remember shift middle mouse button for edge peak which works great.

Other tips related to eye strain and bf4:

I then redid the measurement for Eye Position for Current Device in the Oculus Config to better improve the view for less eye strain. For some reason mine was off, I go between two systems with my Oculus Rift DK2.

I also found that after you put on the Oculus Rift DK2 to close your eyes real hard to help move some of the skin into the goggles around your eyes. I found this in the reddit post about Oculus and Eye strain.

Battlefield is now working well for me and a bit less strain on the eyes. I thought for sure I wasn’t going to get it working but through persistence I was able to get this to work and to share the experience with my friend.

I hope this can help other BF4 lovers to get this working.

This guy Ralf is doing a lot of work answering peoples posts. I believe VorpX is some great software!

Hi, everything was working fine but I’ve updated to the latest ATI driver and now the vorpx view in games is not aligned correctly. normally it corrects the view when the game starts, however I tried F1 2013 and battlefield 4 and both hurt the eyes and theres nothing I can do to fix it. it seems the 3d balance has gone bad and cross eyed. I tried vorpx yesterday before the update and the games worked fine.

    ATI DRIVER – amd-catalyst-14-9-win7-win8.1-64bit-dd-ccc-whql

Please can someone check for me if its the new driver thats causing a problem with Vorpx?

All my rift games and demos are still working fine still so its just vorpx.

Does it need to be updated to work with the latest ati driver?

    thanks

Battlefield 4’s Z-Normal and Z-Adaptive modes in Vorpx don’t work for me, they look the same as the off setting. I have no problems getting Vorpx to hook the game and produce 2 images for viewing through the Rift, but it’s the same image twice, so it’s only 2D… I’ve tried lots of different settings but it doesn’t seem to want to cooperate with me.

Anyways, I’m just reaching out to see if this is only on my end or not, if anyone else is experiencing this, let me know. Thanks!
