In reply to: Any news on Vive
LexlaggerParticipantSo I tried all 3 dirt games on the list and get no head tracking in car for “head look”, it just kind of moves the screen the opposite way it feels as I look but doesn’t actually turn the drivers head, and only slightly moves the screen.
(Vive) any plans on adding more racing sims? Assetto, or Project Cars, or iRacing, or anything like that? Would love to use the vive with these as long as the “head look” worked. I haven’t tried Rfactor yet but that’s on my lest to try today.
Apr 29, 2016 at 8:38pm #101531In reply to: OK… so how does it work??
CarlosParticipantHi Ralph, thanks for the ‘heads up’!
JoeMoore, i’m sorry mate, don’t have a clue what your talking about…@Ralph,
i’ve finally managed to launch rFactor, rFactor2 and also R6 Siege (not supported, just as test). Now, here’s some more Q’s.. i’m not complaining here, just checking if that’s expected or i’m messing something (not that unusual :)
Q1 – the Oculus Home software/virtual menu will allways start everytime i kick a game’s exe. Even if i close it’s tray icon, once i click either game or vorpx game shortcut it opens the Oculus Home and the virtual menu on the HMD’s.. Is that okay?? Isn’t this stealling system resources? And that takes me to Q2
Q2 – all 3 mentioned games have very poor headtracking.. it feels like it’s snnaping on a grid or something, like 5FPS, it’s unbearable. And the DK2 loading icon keeps showing and the screen freezes like it’s struggling to process the thing.. wich can’t be with my specs! So, what’s going on here?
Q3 – Left and Right images are inverted in the HMD’s, it was particulary noticed in rF2. Right eye is getting left image and vice versa, and i don’t find any option to switch it. The in-game menu options for changing axis does nothing..
But the stereo is there, seems very promising, except for the L/R being messed up and the poor head tracking FPS. I mean, coming from PCARS on Steam VR, wich is smooth as silk, so far my short experience with vorpx hasn’t been.. the best :(Q4 – last one… to run Steam games, Steam VR should be ON or not?? Some games like RaceRoom need a -vr launch setting to kick VR. Should i use such with vorpx?
Ralph, i get you’re VERY busy mate, but please try to follow the Q’s, it makes it a lot easier for me and others to LEARN stuff. I work in videogame industry and we’re just discovering the virtues of VR ;)
Thanks!
PS – before someone asks about R6 Siege experience.. you can use your ‘nose’ as a pointer, but the image is too blurry (DK2) and theres zero stereo atm, all you get is headtracking and extra zoom for that special HS, but besides that, it’s not worthy… yet! (not vorpx problem here, game needs VR development)
Apr 15, 2016 at 9:50pm #101008Topic: VorpX Update – No longer Detects DK2
in forum Technical Support
DeltaChrisParticipantHi, I had loaded VorpX to get some work done today and after an update, I get an error message stating that I must not have the Oculus Runtime installed.
Here is the first popup : https://gyazo.com/f916975c8b8ede909a249e98ae20a4e1
Here is the second : https://gyazo.com/7efa8054fafa9b1464d2a2ae3909e2f9I am able to go into the Oculus config utility and open the demo scene and the headset is working in games that support VR directly – such as Project Cars.
Thank you for your time,

AntDX316ParticipantOculus runtime init failed.
Please check wheter you have the Oculus runtime installed.I have unknown sources in oculus home enabled since way back for Project Cars.
“Workaround 1: Use your web installer to install 16.1.1 manually”
Where do I get 16.1.1?Dec 7, 2015 at 9:52am #93594In reply to: 0.9.1 – No games working
redParticipantOK. ‘Euro Truck Simulator 2’ (and apparently ‘Space Engineers’) is a pain to set up even on a working system, so I’m not worried about that.
I’d like to confirm an application working in the Rift without vorpX… you seem to have ‘Steam’, so could you download and play the free ‘Back to Dinosaur Island’ demo and see if there’s any issue there?
If so, we can start introducing vorpX… ‘Life is Strange Episode 1’ is only a few dollars and would be a great testing application. It runs fine with the Oculus 0.8.0.0-beta Runtime and vorpX 0.9.1. Can I persuade you to purchase it in the name of troubleshooting?
BTW, ‘Project Cars’ runs natively with the Oculus 0.8.0.0-beta Runtime, ‘Assetto Corsa’ does not, so please don’t try Assetto Corsa.
So… (1) Can you use the vorpX Desktop Viewer, (2) Can you run the ‘Back to Dinosaur Island’ demo, and (3) Can you run ‘Life is Strange Episode 1’?
Dec 6, 2015 at 10:19pm #93034In reply to: 0.9.1 – No games working
redParticipantSomething’s crashing somewhere… it’s just a case of finding out where.
How’s the Oculus performing otherwise? I’d be interested to know if you can use the vorpX Desktop Viewer without issue, and if you can play any native Rift games (without vorpX)? eg. Assetto Corsa, PCars, Elite etc.
Also, can you confirm that GTA5 and Fallout4 run OK on your monitor without vorpX running? Seems silly, but I had to ask…
It’d be nice to see you fixed using Oculus Runtime 0.8.0.0-beta, vorpX 0.9.1 and lastest GPU drivers (nVidia?), otherwise as you say you’ll be stuck in the past.
Don’t give up… getting GTA5 and Fallout4 running with vorpX is life changing…

Orion_ukParticipantHi Ralf, many thanks for your reply.
I tried what you said but am still stuck with cars/bikes etc ‘auto steering’ when i move my head. Do you have any other ideas please, thank you.Nov 3, 2015 at 10:57am #90955In reply to: GTA V – Xbox 360 strange inputs when VorpX running
earsParticipantAh OK – thanks – so it’s a known thing then?
I’ll try that replay thing, thanks. And my poor GTA man will have to keep driving around in breezy cars due to is obsession with smashing the driver side windscreen.
Oct 14, 2015 at 3:39pm #90209In reply to: vorpX 0.9 Slight Delay
shadowselfParticipantSO excited.
I have not been using VorpX for a while now, as I am using 0.7/Win10. Direct mode is a big step forward, and I don’t mind sacrificing so many games for a while to play the few that do work with it. I have put HOURS into Project Cars.
I can’t wait to play GTA V again with VorpX, and I have my fingers crossed for Fallout 4 being supported.
shadowselfParticipantI am checking this site every day, really looking forward to the new release. It sounds like it will also fix GTA V’s controller issues, I hate driving with keyboard especially when I can’t see it! At least I have Project Cars to play with in the meantime, it has native Rift support and works really well with runtime 0.7
Aug 22, 2015 at 1:51pm #89499In reply to: How to turn off controller emulation completely?
SamadhiParticipanthello I play without problems with the gamepad.
I turn it on before you start the game and before vorpx and it’s good.
I have a xbox360 wireless controller.
…I switched to Windows 10 and nothing works.
I wait for the 0.7 runtime and vorpx update.Thank you so much for this, making sure my controller is turned on before loading up VorpX completely changes the input and lets me control the game with my controller without issue.
Spent a few hours zipping around in my various cars and loved it.
Dirtbiking was far less comfortable though lol.
Jul 19, 2015 at 5:31am #88511In reply to: Trouble with Oculus DK2 and Vorpx
BitchinParticipantI have tried uninstalling vorpx and deleted all registry entries, reinstalled it and re registered it and I still cannot get anything working with it. I go into Portal 2 (on my monitor without dk2) and set video to 1920 x 1080 and save it, I then quit game restart it on my monitor and check the settings are the same, which they always are. I then run vorpx, run portal 2 and the screen goes black, then it returns to desktop with Portal 2 music running and if I click the icon for portal 2 on the task bar, the screen flashes black then drops back to desktop.. I turn off dk2 and vorpx, go back into game on my monitor and the video settings have been changed to some weird 476 x 1490 setting… change settings back, repeat the above and get the same outcome. I find it really frustrating that I can only launch the vorpx config whilst the dk2 is switched on, trying to view desktop icons and windows in vr sucks… the Oculus display mode software runs without the need for the dk2 and I think this would be a great help. If I cannot get the games to launch how does an in-game vorpx menu help ? Getting really frustrated with this now, I bought Vorpx months ago and have had zero success with it, I put in 3-4 hours every now and then trying to get a game working but it is an endless roundabout of failure. I can run demo’s for DK2 in direct or extended mode, I can run games with DK2 support like Live for Speed or Project cars instantly, but Vorpx fails me every time I try to use it. Perhaps it’s a win8 64 thing ? I just cannot get it to work .
Jul 8, 2015 at 10:24am #88389In reply to: Project Cars
RalfKeymastervorpX does nothing unless it is running. Exiting it disables it completely. To make sure it is not running, check your task manager for vorpControl.exe and vorpControl64.dat.
I can just guess that after using vorpX you may have to switch your Rift back to direct mode for Project Cars to work. The latest Project Cars version may also require the 0.6 Oculus runtime. Not sure about that though.

DanSbarceaParticipantHi,
Could you, please, help me with an advice about how to deactivate de vorpx as to be able to play Project Cars? It looks that just simply exit the program doesn’t change anything and I cannot manage to get VR in race mode :(
Project Cars worked fine until I have installed the Vorpx… :(Thank you in advance for your time,
Dan

mcineParticipantSvenH: I did not get rf2 to work with windowed mode which I used previously, but it starts with full screen.
I still have things to adjust, but the game looked good except that using my oculus profile did not work that well (I might need o adjust because of that) and the mirrors and hud (in wheel) in formula renault 3.5 are in wrong place.
And the mouse is not working well anywhere… But using cinema mode fixes that.. is there a shortcut for cinemamode/3d mode switch ?I did not try other cars.
Thanks for the support will use it alot 8)
