nexus-07ParticipantThe picture will be ~ 100p if you do not expand the player to full screen. And in order to get 4k, it is necessary that the screen is 4k.
It’s generally not possible to make 1080p to 4k, but there are a lot of good old films on DVD, and here madvr can come in handy. I even started to learn how to convert video. There is such a program Topaz Gigapixel AI

apollon01ParticipantHello,
I am reviving this thread since it is also about Thief (2014), which I grabbed for next to nothing in the current Steam sale.
It does not hook (I will investigate more this evening).
But what surprised me is that there are two pop-ups with the message that vorpX is attaching to XY.exe. I get just one such pop-up with other games (that hook OK). After some time the hooking times out and voila. Can one pop-up prevent the other to hook and vice versa?
I am a bit confused here. Any ideas?
Thanks,Milan

ZouganelisParticipantI do it to adjust volume and sound output device and same thing happens if I take off the headset, or when a Windows notification comes in the foreground even for a split second. When the stream gets interrupted it never recovers. I don’t have this issue with Oculus or SteamVR, they both work flawlessly. My point is, the game will be interrupted and will crush more often than not.

MinabeParticipantBug Report for the beta version: For Bioshock, using the new sync i get 20-30 less fps, depending on location; ended up using the old sync as it’s much faster. Anywhere i tested was the same thing, using the old sync is simply better, it even crashed once using the new sync so i stopped using it completely.
Also tested Witcher 3 but i didn’t see a difference using either, no crash either but i didn’t play it for long.

neitVRParticipantThank you for the details response!
Some games that i play need to use the right joystick for choosing guns, dialog, options, … like the new Doom 2016. Also, I’m mainly playing in DirectVR mode so the view got drifted up or down quite often so i need to readjust it.
When in directVR, i use edge peek for working with game menu. And i mostly use my left joystick for it instead of the head mouse. So it get annoying sometimes.
Gotta say, 40$ was a tough price for me at first. But the program is great (one eye blind so i don’t need 3d) and the support has been phenomenon. That 40$ was a great investment.
Here to making that 40$ worth even more with each update!

RalfKeymasterDid you check everything else from the pinned trouble shooting guide in regard to hooking conflicts too? Hooking issues almost always are related to some other program also hooking into games.
Apart from that the ‘Alternative Hooking’ checkbox in the config app might be woth a shot. Sometimes that can relove hooking issues without getting to the bottom of it. Caveat: don’t forgot to switch back even if that helps. Some games require default hooking.

ZouganelisParticipantHi, I am having problems running F1 2019 with Vorpx. I am using an Oculus Quest via Link (although I am using the cable that came with it and running in USB2.0 mode until my fast cable arrives) and I have two problems, probably not connected:
1. Once the game launches, if I press the Windows key to go back to my desktop and change something, e.g. to adjust sound level or to switch the output to the headset, the image on the Quest freezes indefinitely, even though the game keeps running fine and displaying on the monitor. At this point I have to close the game and run it again, but that doesn’t solve the problem as the sound output reverts back to the default one. I can do the above sequence when I am running VD with SteamVR and switches in and out smoothly and without crashing. It just feels that the stream gets interrupted and never recovers.
2. Once in the game I can run it in immersive mode with head tracking working fine (without OpenTrack), but in VR mode when I turn my head, my entire view moves with it. Do I need OpenTrack in VR mode? Many thanks in advance for your help.

RalfKeymaster@ Picdelag
First please make sure that you are using the latest vorpX 20.2.0
That out of the way:
re your actual issue with vorpX: If the issue is related to your proximity sensor, I’m not sure how vorpX would be able to handle it otherwise. It just checks whether the headset is active and if so displays the game, using pretty much boilerplate code from the Oculus SDK.
If dellrifter’s suggestion doesn’t help, I would as a first step suggest to check whether the issue also occurs with vorpX set to ‘Generic 3D Display’. That way you could determine whether there is some general hooking problem or the issue is related to your headset. If games also don’t work with the ‘Generic 3D Display’, check again for potential hooking conflicts.
re your config app issue: If you are on Windows 10 and have a high DPI monitor, please make sure that you do NOT have changed any high DPI compatibility setting for the config app. Current Windows 10 builds handle the config app perfectly per default on high DPI monitors. If you are still on Windows 7, you might get a better result on high DPI monitors with one of the manual compatibility overrides. I still check vorpX occasionally on Windows 7 although it is past End-Of-Life for half a year now, but non-critical stuff like this won’t be addressed for a 10 years old OS that not even its manufacturer supports anymore.

PicdelagParticipantHello again!
So, since then i have tried 3-4 times to solve my issue (multiples hours per try…) without sucess…
So, i’ve tested all i can think of, and it still don’t work.
I can’t list everything, but today tried again multiple times after uninstalling my antivirus, my firewall, my oculus client, vorpx and my GPU driver.
Then re-installed in this order : GPU Driver => Oculus client=> Vorpx. No security soft so.Nothing running in background, minimal processus possible, it just still don’t work i’m a bit tired of this… because Vorpx seems incredible if it just want to work again!
If i have explained my proximity sensor issue last time, it was simply because it’s since then that vorpx is no longer working anymore. Althought, before that it was working perfect directly, without any tricks needed and i don’t even closed all processus possibles, and even my Avast antivirus and my Comodo Firewwall was running in same time without problem!
So i don’t know at all why it don’t work anymore today, and i tought it was a good idea to explain my proximity sensor issue if it can be related to this… Also, when was working i don’t have the opportunity to test it a long time, cause i was just new in VR world with my first VR Headset bought recently.
Here is some other symptoms i can report :
-Can’t resize the Vorpx configuration windows, and text are often cutted or melted. For exemple the “start page” is just not readable/clickable cause of this, or in “general”, i see only half the text on the device selected, and only the first line of the bottom test is visible.
-The desktop viewer DON’T WORK EITHER!
-Tried Monster Hunter World for exemple : I can see the Vorpx Logo and informations on my flat regular screen on the game, and i see that i can even move the cursor in the menue by moving my Rift S !
-When i try a full factory reset, i have an error message : ” 1 error(s) detected during factory reset. The reset may have failed or be incomplete.”So please help me… I’m getting tired of this!
I can tell you anything you need, send logs ect… to solve my problem please.
And scuse my english!
Thanks!Jun 21, 2020 at 11:42am #195522In reply to: Does monitor type/size impact vorpx?
MinabeParticipantYou can simply turn on the pc with no monitor whatsoever and just plug-in the hmd, if your hmd allows it, then you’ll get only the native resolutions for your hmd and you won’t even have to add custom resolutions.
Jun 18, 2020 at 1:49pm #195450In reply to: Everspace 2?
dellrifter22ParticipantI installed this tonight and took a quick look. It seems the Engine.ini tweak that works with most UE4 games work here as well for a decent FOV gain.
Open with notepad Engine.ini found in:
C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\ES2_Prototype\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditorCopy/paste these two lines somewhere at the bottom, save and close:
[/Script/Engine.LocalPlayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV—————————————————
To compliment this tweak I’ve uploaded a new profile to the cloud you can try that has HUD layers assigned and 3D strength increased. Search for EVERSPACE 2 – Prototype Demo (dellrifter22) on the cloud.
It defaults to FullVR, but I personally recommend cinema mode for this game if you rely heavily on the HUD. You can shrink HUD down for FullVR mode if you wish in the delete menu, but it becomes hard to read. Don’t forget to use vorpX EdgePeek for menus.
If you need even more FOV to feel less zoomed, you can adjust the vorpX image zoom and also the 3D FOV Enhancement slider. Both of these can be adjusted on the main vorpX delete key menu page.
To avoid texture and motion blur, in game Display settings:
– set Anti Aliasing to Medium or Low
– set Post Processing to LowI’ve disabled a few shadow conflicts and effects, but only spent 2 hours testing, so please forgive any glitches that may remain. Hope it makes it easier to play.

HildrParticipantHello,
I’m pretty new to the VR and VorpX world so it seems I have a lot to learn to get things working, but I tried to follow your guide to make this game works.
First, I don’t play the original Spellforce game, but the Platinum Edition on steam, I don’t know if there are any differences. So I first thought I did all the step right, but in fact, I can’t get DGVooDoo working with the game (followed some basic guide about it to have the watermark shown, but it doesn’t, so I guess I don’t install it correctly).
Could you please redirect me to a more newbie friendly guide about this or explain me how to make it work please? I can’t even figure out what DGVoodoo does from their website or the main topic here.
On the positive side, I learned to use an HEXeditor software =D
Also, I don’t get the part with the -windows when creating a shortcut. I think I have already seen something similar long time ago, but can’t figure out now where to add argument to modify how a software is launched.
Also, I’m using Windows 10.Also, the Vive Index having a 1600*1400 resolution, is it useful to set the game at a higher resolution than that?
Thank you for your work anyway, from what I see, you do a lot for the community here and I’m sure other guide from you will greatly help me.
Jun 17, 2020 at 10:41am #195422In reply to: Watch Dogs hangs when attempting to hook
RalfKeymasterUnfortunately I was never able to replicate this issue. Did you try the ‘alternative hooking’ method in the config app? That can sometimes help without getting to the bottom of a hooking conflict. Don’t forget to switch back though later even if it helps, some games require default hooking.
Jun 14, 2020 at 8:51pm #195320In reply to: Metro 2033 redux series
RalfKeymasterThe game should work just fine under normal circumstances. However, if you can’t make it work, try the regular Metro 2033 version. I’m not 100% sure anymore, but IIRC that would preferable anyway to to more complete DirectVR support.
Also checking the ‘alternative hooking’ checkbox in the vorpX config app is always worth a shot. Caveat: Don’t forget to switch back even if that helps with a game. It’s not better per se, some game require the default hooking method.
Apart from that:
Problems with attaching to games typically are related to conflicts with other programs on your PC that also hook into games. Obvious candidates would be CPU/GPU utilities of any kind or some invasive AV programs, but there are also less obvious ones. Generally everything that can show an overlay over games for example. Since you are a 3D-Vision user, please also make sure that 3D-Vision is disabled.
You can find more detailed information regarding hooking issues including some other, less likely, potential reasons in the trouble shooting guide in the help (or here).
Jun 14, 2020 at 8:19pm #195316In reply to: Vorpx 120hz refresh rate with Valve Index
tip.atkesonParticipantI would like to even get 90 fps versus 60. I am sure that the headset is interpolating the FPS to a higher FPS but this is not the proper way to do it, especially when the game is only allowing a low 6o fps output because it feels it is running on monitor. I am playing F1 2019 and this game can run at very high refresh rates and it would be awesome to access those in the Valve Index headset. Thanks for the feedback.
