    I’m having this same Portal 2 headtracking issue; doesn’t happen in Half-Life, or HL: Episode 1 (not sure about Episode 2); whenever I move my head, a subtle swimmy rotation echoes for a moment, then stops.

    vorpX scanning & settings have no effect…the behavior remains unchanged.

    (This was my first ever Portal 2 session with vorpX, yesterday, 2020-05-20; it directly followed a vorpX update).

    Edit:
    VorpX version 21.2.0.3

    Just a heads-up that the feature has to be enabled on a game-to-game basis since it rquires some game specific settings. It doesn’t work automagically. Currently it’s enabled for the following games: Half-Life 2 (+episodes), Portal 2, Black Mesa Source, Titanfall 2, Fallout 4, Crysis, Skyrim Special Edition, Aliens: Colonial Marines.

    Below is the list list of games that this feature will be enabled for in vorpX 21.2.0 (release tomorrow).

    Tweakable options include the feature mode (off/auto hide/size and position only/always hidden), the auto hide timeout, the position of the weapon in 3d space, and weapon FOV and 3D-Strength for tweaking its size. Shouldn’t really be necessary to tweak anything though. Each profile has carefully chosen individual defaults that work just fine.

    Games for the first release:

    – Half-Life 2 (+episodes)
    – Portal 2
    – Black Mesa Source
    – Titanfall 2
    – Fallout 4
    – Crysis
    – Skyrim Special Edition
    – Aliens: Colonial Marines

    More games will follow shortly, I’m fairly confident that adding the feature will be possible for about 4 out of 5 potential candidates, i.e. first person G3D games.

    Note that in this first release there is no UI for changing gamepad/key assignments, will also follow shortly. For the time being make sure to use a game’s default bindings, otherwise vorpX might not be able to reliably detect when the weapon is supposed to be shown/hidden under all circumstances.

    Hello, I am having an issue launching any steam games and trying to use vorpX. The problem is if I launch a game with steamVR turned on it tries to enter into steam vr theater and the game doesn’t work with vorpX.
    VorpX then tells me to launch the game without steamVR enabled however when I do this vorpX will not attempt to hook to the game since if steamVR is not launched my htc vive is turned off.
    The game I attempted to play was Half-Life 2.

    Hello,
    So now and then I play Ark with the G3D profile … plays great with the Reverb G2 and Pimax 8KX and the immersive screen … !!
    By the way, yesterday I successfully tested “The Isle” with the Ark (G3D) profile … and uploaded a profile for the dinosaur game …

    The game runs in real geometric 3D, i.e. (G3D) and it just looks fantastic … !! … I have a lot of fun walking through the real 3D landscape as a dinosaur … Grass and trees that look like dinosaurs themselves in real 3D but much more real and lively … plus the very good soundscape and the huge world …
    For Jurassic Wold Evolution there is also a new VorpX profile with G3D …!

    In the German forum it was reported that there should now be a Trespasser VR Mod …

    Much appreciated, Ralf. My Quest 2 looks forward to play some vorpexed titles (was busy with DrBeef’s Half-Life port the last weeks…).

    @moadepth – Great idea, IMO.

    Oh, I forgot to mention this: as a possible valid reference, I run Half-Life: Alyx with this same setup without a glitch in high quality. I don’t know if that tells you anything but I figure I’d let you know since that game requires a pretty powerful VR setup to even run.

    3d is weird, it’s like the world is flattened half a meter in front of you. Head tracking is misaligned, it overshoots the angles (if I look down 30 degrees the view is moved by more than that). For some reason, stick turning can change x-rotation (further misaligning the view with the actual eye direction), when previously it would only rotate around the y-axis, as it is supposed to.

    These problems have been there for a while, but I played HL2 and Episode 1 in Garry’s Mod instead. Episode 2 just won’t run in Gmod though (can’t get out of the train because the animations for Alyx getting you out don’t load) so I’d like to play Episode 2 with Vorpx at least. But as I said it’s broken, same way as the main game when I tried months ago.

    I already tried resetting the HL2/Portal profile to factory settings but that didn’t fix it.

    Since its fully 3D, I think of it more like looking through a window into a VR world. I don’t really think of it as a “screen” since it fill my whole FOV, and looks 3D.

    Well of course that´s right what you say, especially being “surrounded” by this ambient gamescreen-light is something completely missing with any real world screen and adding lots to the atmosphere, but still “vr games” do first of all mean something like “being inside” a game rather than looking at it onto a 2d-screen (even if it´s inside this virtual world), but that is still how i am playing and enjoying them and for sure VR wasn´t just made to experience games this way mostly.

    i already said it many times, but Ralf should be awarded & recognized by the whole game industry for this incredible software.

    Not sure about the gaming industry in general, but for sure the VR industry should not only honor Ralf but also be very thankful for him and his software, i mean in my case it saved VR for me! If i wouldn´t have found myself playing on this immersive vr-screen, i´d have dumped VR one month ago coz from all my “vr-disappointments” i wasn´t even interested in HALF-LIFE:ALYX anymore.

    So in my opinion vorpX did far more for VR than they expected HL:Alyx to do, let alone that Alyx is getting old anyway, but vorpX not.

    Getting back to vorpX´s immersive screen and wishes users here have made public. I think i read a few comments where people wanted to have the option to make the screen even bigger plus more distance options:

    First of all i think it would be better not to have too many options, coz i often find myself trying out different ways for way too long and still can´t make up my mind what is finally better for my taste, on the other hand…i would definitely say “YES!” to the option of increasing screen size along with increasing distance. Hopefully this would be something Ralf puts into his mind within the next few updates, but i can also live with it not happening.

    I am aware that there are user profiles for both games, but they are not officially supported. Everything you see in the profile cloud that doesn’t end with [vorpX] is a user profile. Can’t say much to that unfortunately. However, I was made aware recently of some older OpenGL user profiles not working right anymore. Since both games use OpenGL they are affected probably. Will be looked into.

    As far as Half-Life is concerned I’d highly suggest Black Mesa: Source on Steam instead, which works great with vorpX. Just in case you never heard of it before: Black Mesa: Source is a remake of the original Half-Life with more modern graphics. Caveat: It has to be the Steam version, there also is a fairly old free version, but that is not supported by vorpX.

    Apart from that: take a peek at the Good Full VR Games for Beginners list. Those are known to work great with minimal fuzz.

    BTW: You don’t need to download official profiles usually, vorpX already comes with all official profiles that are available.

    Ralf, one more query and I will leave you alone for Christmas.

    Slowly figuring this out but some games are only rendering in one eye. Half-Life and Neverwinter Nights are the two I tried.
    With Neverwinter nights, the Hud is rendering but not the 3d graphics.
    Is this a profile problem?

    Happy to wait till after Christmas for a reply.

    Have a good one.

    @ dborosev Thanks for your suggestions.

    Considering other programs that might hook into the game, only ds4win came to mind. I gave a try disabling it, but it did not help. Game still crashes after a few minutes.

    I also read through the troubleshooting help, but I do not have any of the suggested programs running. My virus scanner is the windows default (i.e., Windows Defender as suggested). Steam is of course running (as I am using the steam version), but I do not have any kind of overlays activated.

    Considering that the game will also crash on lowest settings, it does not seem likely to me that it is to high a load on my graphics card. I tried monitoring my GPU but nothing really stood out: On lowest settings, its usage varies between 30-80%, with around 5G of 8G VRAM usage. Temperatures well in range. Until at some point: crash. Also, I don’t experience any stability problems in general. Without vorpx no crashes on ultra settings, also other games like, e.g., Half-Life:Alyx run just fine.

    Finally, I also tried reinstalling vorpx (I left the registry keys in place, though). Did not help.

    I face a problem and I run out of options of what could be the issue of games not running in VorpX. Games that worked was Half-Life 2, Portal, Fallout 3, and Fallout Las Vegas. Checking on other people facing similar issues I read all previous options of what could I do about it and I did all these steps. Reinstall VorpX, disable and uninstall AV program, disable any overlays that could influence the VorpX to hook up to the game, check if there is any unnecessary DLL, checking if the game is running in DX11 not DX12, trying to change resolutions for games, uninstall games and install again, run games and VorpX as admin, use alternative hooking method. All the games I checked are compatible with VorpX and should work without hassle and they are bought and I own them. At this point, I really can’t find a solution to what the issue could be and what could make it work. If there are any smart guys out there, please help me to solve this issue because I am hanging on to this for weeks without any progress. I know VorpX working and its hooking on to games, but it dose not for most of the compatible games that should work.

    Okay, I can confirm FC4 doesn’t work out of the box.

    I’m trying to play it on WMR (Samsung Odyssey+), and I was unfortunate enough to buy the game on Steam, not knowing it required Ubisoft Connect–which means it has to fire up both clients at the start. Maybe that’s part of the problem.

    Anyway, I can only get into the main menu by using the old trick from this forum: pause the Watcher, start the game, wait for the loading screen, resume the Watcher. However, after that, the picture appears blurry as sh*t, zoomed (I can’t see the HUD), and there’s no G3D. It’s absolutely flat.

    All the other games I play with Vorpx hook perfectly (NFS Rivals, NFS Shift 2, Half-Life 2, Rage with the unofficial profile, albeit the latter, being OpenGL, doesn’t have G3D either). I’ve tried shutting down all the non-essential Windows processes–including the antivirus–rebooting the PC, reinstalling the game and Vorpx itself etc. etc. etc.

    Another thing I’ve noticed is that Vorpx adds the following element to the game’s profile:

    <CustomQuality>
    <quality ResolutionX=”1280″ ResolutionY=”720″ OtherQuality=”low” EnvironmentQuality=”low” AntiPortalQuality=”default” PortalQuality=”default” PostFxQuality=”low” TextureQuality=”low” WaterQuality=”low” DepthPassQuality=”low” VegetationQuality=”low” TerrainQuality=”low” GeometryQuality=”low” LightingQuality=”high” ShadowQuality=”low” ShadowCinematicQuality=”low” EditorQuality=”default” Hdr=”1″ HdrFP32=”0″ ReflectionHdr=”1″ EnableVertexBinding=”1″ id=”custom”/>
    </CustomQuality>

    Would really appreciate some support here!

    Hi!
    First of all, thanks for this amazing feature; I bought VorpX 4 months ago to replay Half Life saga in VR and finally enjoy Half-Life Alyx (a masterpiece) and after I found that Half Life in VR was a little nauseating, I tried to play it on my LG 3D Screen and… it was way beyond expectation!
    I think I will play more and more games that way, since it so immersive and relaxing at the same time!
    This post is to understand better how this mode works to get the best from it, since I recently got a new 4k HDR 3D tv from LG (so bad that they stopped making them) so I’d like to know how to setup in game resolution to get the best performances.
    Since at the TV is sent an SBS image, If i set the game to 4k VORPX will render 2 times a 4k scene (overkilling my Vega 64 graphic card) or it will render a total 4k scene?
    Is there any tweak or hint to get the best from this mode?
    Thanks very much for your support!
