KeymasterYou can pretty much ignore that. When you copy a profile it originally still has the old version since nothing has changed yet. There is indeed a glitch though where confusingly even after making changes the old version is still shown in the config app.
That‘s largely a cosmetic issue though, in the actual settings inside the profile vorpX stores the version that was used on last save, so vorpX itself knows how to handle potentially version sensitive stuff like deprecated settings. The only ill effect of the glitch is that it confuses the cloud search version management, so that users with an older vorpX version might see the profile when doing a cloud search although they aren‘t supposed to because it is too new. I‘ll check that on occasion.

ParticipantI finished the Redux version of Metro 2033 and there might be a bug which might have something to do with the FOV set to 90. I’ll try without spoilers but be aware
*** POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW ***
At the last chapter, after you set up the tracking device on the top of the tower, your mind is taken by the dark ones into these “enlightening” scenes, after which you start to run away from the dark one inside a maze. The maze gameplay starts with 4 doors around you and the game saves.
The problem starts here, because the game changes the FOV in this part to something bigger. My game froze during the FOV change while the game saved. I loaded the save after game restart and it loaded freezed. I had to start the chapter from the start but i played it on Flat screen with FOV set to 60. This way i was able to finish it.
I still need to confirm it by playing again with VorpX though.

ParticipantI am totally with you senoctar and i actually already hook onto every game i am playing with vorpX, regardless what features i am using or how i configurate it.
I was a little stressed when i bought vorpX, with being well aware of this nice piece of software probably being a little “stressful” to configurate for beginners, so since i already had my fun with “theater-screens” i just felt for using vorpX for nothing else than that at this moment, until i felt like having enough time to dig into the other aspects of it and finding out things for myself.
On the subject of other software, in my opinion steam´s virtual desktop had several flaws with certain games stuttering on it while bigscreen beta was much better but also suffering flaws vorpX doesn´t, most of all the fact bigscreen is much more demanding on hardware and some games even stuttering as well or constantly crash as soon you jump from the menu into the game.
Still talking bigscreen beta, i have to say there is also some major “flaw” who is actually somehow slight “positive”. I am talkin about its general picture quality, for example if you pull the screen real close, you have a pretty unsharp picture quality compared to that great one you have with vorpX, now when you get the right distance inside bigscreen beta, the overal picture quality gets that slight “washed out” look, in my opinion making pixel-sidescrollers look a little better than on vorpX or any other monitor, but that again is “useless” once you add the 3d-effect with vorpx.
There is only ONE real big PLUS side with bigscreen beta, and that is the option of making the virtual-desktop-screen alot bigger than currently available with vorpX, but that feature is useless with bigscreen beta and certain games who stutter or refuse to run at all, so i´d love to see this “bigger” feature on vorpX too one day.

ParticipantSo I am trying to make WRC 9 work with my VR headset I dont want it to look like I am just looking at a big screen while the headset is on, is it possible to actually look around the cockpit and look behind you etc. With this software?
Could it be compared to dirt rally/DR 2.0 Oculus VR versions?
To clarify, I am wanting it to look 3d, as in you are there and have depth perception and look around inside the car freely. Im also wondering if there is any perceivable latency whrn you turn your head? I use my VR headset almost exclusively for sim racing.
Im hoping someone can help me figure out if this is possible.

ParticipantI remember there were complaints people couldnt fix visuals with reshade because vorpx was overaking it, somebody made a mod for it to work inside steamvr on reddit
Ive tested it with mirrors edge catalyst and it seems to be working as in injecting (vorpx is warning about conflicts) but Ive chosen most obvious shader to see if it works while forgetting to test if it kills vorpx z3d.
Anyways, you can try it with different games and see how it goes.

ParticipantTypically you are better off when you let vorpX hook into games, it can do a lot more when running inside a game, even if you only want to play in 2D. Also performance is usually better that way.
I wasn´t getting that part coz i actually thought making it hook can also cause certain problems with certain games and i would be better off to avoid those with not letting it hook in the first place, since it doesn´t need to be hooked in order to play them in 2D anyway.
While you can use the vorpX desktop viewer for playing games ofc if you want, that’s not really what it was made for originally.
Some users buy vorpX and expect it to work flawlessly in full-vr mode with every game and that are those who mostly end up giving unfair negative reviews on vorpX, while they probably wouldn´t give such negative ratings when they would as well make use of and enjoy those other options besides just going in full-vr.
Anyway, i am about to leave my vorpX 2D experience for a couple of hours now and try using it for “what it was made originally” for my first time ever on vorpX.
….just hope people are fast with replying in the troubleshooting section tho…LOL.

swatt
ParticipantOk so yes, I’m already running Windowed (and always was), so let’s rule that out for now.
When I change the game resolution down to 1920×1080, the vorpX cursor is way off inside VR, like half a screen away. On-screen Wow cursor is fine.
That’s why I tried changing the screen resolution for that monitor so that it matches the game resolution, but still very low fps.
I will do the profile reset and see. Where do I reset the profile? There is so much information, I’m not sure what exactly to reset. Hopefully not the entire thing and all my settings, excluded programs, etc.
I see a Restore Game Settings option. This tells me that VorpX does something with the settings. And I was assuming it would do what’s necessary to make the game work well in VR. Could you maybe point me to information of what exactly VorpX does to change a game to work in VR?
Thanks much!

Participantlooks op is missing vorpx whole point.
…i think the same thing about game developers probably missing the whole point of nvidia´s RTX cards when i look at how sadly RAYTRACING is used…IF it´s even used….or is it dead already and i missed the news?
but he should also try the amazing others vorpx features ^^
There are other vorpX features than just having a virtual 2D screen inside my vr-goggles?
;-)

ParticipantI got What Remains of Edith Finch to work with no problem. Seemed to work just like any Steam game. Is excellent in vorpx. But, yeah, to change the resolution of the game (nothing to do with vorpx), I had to get inside the stupid protected files to find the gamesettings.ini file which was a pain.

Participantsince maybe a year almost nothing good has been released for PSVR anymore.
PCVR same thing – when you look at the pcvr releases the last year.. most of them are small crappy games. So I’m extremely happy with Vorpx, especially now that I have it running perfectly on my G2.
The extremely low amount of good VR games released lately does make me worry a bit about the future of VR in general.Yes i also noticed a certain lack of new (and most of all “good/interesting”) vr-games on steam, i am usually not that negative but i was thinking to myself like “Is this already the beginning of the end?”
Well let´s hope not, even that i don´t really care about real/full vr-titles and mostly play on immersive-screen-modes, when VR is dead then so is vorpx and everything else related to VR. My worries are even more when i remember 3D-Blu-Rays/TV-Sets, who are officially abandoned by the industry already one or two years ago (still some people aren´t aware of this and wonder about missing 3D movies), i mean…3D still ain´t VR, but if people aren´t ready for this, as they obviously weren´t for 3D, then….well i don´t wanna think about it too much, it´s still too early i guess.
On the other hand….who would want to watch 3D movies on a expensive 3D-tv set when you can have huge theater screens in 3D inside vr goggles? So 3D could have its resurrection once more people figure out how great it is to watch a movie inside vr goggles (i actually had doubts about it myself, before i tried it)
@ToxicMike,
It almost sounds like your games are flat on the screen? Are you sure you have 3D enabled for your games? Its not like a flat screen at all. Its just a boxed in view of a VR world in full 3D. Its not a “2d screen” at all. I certainly feel like I’m “inside the game”. Thats the whole point.WTF? Wait wait…with the possibility of making myself look like a complete dork now…i am still new to vorpX and i am still not sure about that “3D” look of games? And yes, i see a flat screen inside my goggles, nothing 3D, well at least i haven´t tried yet or looked into such an option.
Does that mean i could use that 3D mode (gotta dig into it in how to activate it) on every game or most games???
I already enjoy my games on this virtual bigass screen and don´t ever wanna get back to my tiny 32inch monitor, but then also in 3D?
“You gotta be fu**in kiddin me!”
