    Hi there Ralf and players.

How about a simple idea to show which profiles level of 3D depth have included inside to avoid having to download and check in-game blindly?
I would love to have a classification or a way to filter when searching, for example: searching specifically for G3D profiles

    Thanks!

Okay, this is going to sound ridiculous – but hear me out.

Tried launching the game inside the Oculus Dashboard in the headset (usually just launch in Steam and then put headset on) and now the headtracking and ‘edge peek’ modes are working just fine! And game is still running far better!

Thanks ralf, this is awesome! To anyone else trying this, if you run into the issue i described – dont wait for the game to attach and launch, put the headset on ASAP or launch from within Oculus Dashboard in the headset

So, Skyrim, use the Vorpix configure screen to reset skyrim to default. Start a new game. I tend to use the mousewheel a lot to switch form first to third person view on. But it seems like every time I use the mousewheel to zoom in to first person the camera moves position.

First, when I look down I see my feet (as I would expect) then after a while, when I zoom in the camera is in my head, and I am looking through the inside of my body to the grass under my feet. Then next time I zoom in the camera seems to treat my body as an object that the camera has to snap in front of, so then the camera snaps to directly under my feet when I look down. Then the fifth time that I zoom in, the camera might place itself like 4 feet in front of my head.

I can usually use the in game menu to move the camera to a good position, but that number keeps creeping up. So say I had to move the camera to .80… then when the camera position changed I have to go to 1.20 to correct it. then the third time it happens I have to to 1.5 to correct it. After that it gets too far out of tolerance and it becomes pretty much impossible to correct.

Some times I can see my head. Some times my head is gone. (not the the camera is clipping through it. I mean the head is totally gone even though the camera is in a position that it ought to be able to see it.) Other times my torso is enormous even though I didn’t mess with FOV.

Anyway, just wondering how I can force the camera to stay put when I use the mousewheel to zoom in and out.

For the controller it sounds like your dead zone is too large,

This can be adjusted inside vorpx on the input page/button binding page

Just choose a lower value for the dead zone and see how that feels

I think when I’m inside the menu in game and I move the cursor out, it’ll be back out to Windows on my other monitor. (Not 100% positive, but i’ll test it out and let you know)
One in game issue, when I use the Scope Aim with the sniper rifle, the game will act very weird. It’ll kick me out of the aim sequence and then kinda mess up the aiming movement. Just wondering if other people are experiencing it? I tried using flat mode and it doesn’t act this way.

I dont have the game yet but that -may- all be caused by having two monitors running. I hope the scope thing isnt just inherent to the game tho, thatd be a bummer. Thanks for bringing it up to get feedback; but when you unplug your second monitor, can you post here whether the scoping problem went away?

Thanks for your time, hope you enjoy the game. I saw you having trouble with vorpx the other day – it really is an amazing tool, just a little complex at first but eventually youll understand what 95% of the options do and what you need to set up to make a game work for you.

But as someone mentioned, even if you gotta turn the graphics down, get to 2560x1440p. If youre on an AMD card you need to go into the AMD settings (right click desktop) and then click the ‘gear’ icon on the upper right. Once youve clicked that, click Display.

Next part, in the list of options for ‘display’ – do this in this exact order cause ive had it bug out when I didnt.

    Enable GPU Scaling.
After that, enable “Virtual super resolution”

Then turn you desktop to 2560x1440p just in case theres conflicts with the game, put it on borderless windowed, or just try them all and see what runs best. But playing 1080p in a headset vs. 2560×1440 is night and day, even if you need to tone down some graphics, its worth it

    good luck

Normally vorpX keeps the cursor inside the game window. If that doesn’t work in this case, your best bet is probably disabling your second monitor temporarily.

    @ VRan

You can ignore the mouse acceleration setting in the vorpX menu for newer games. It’s only relevant for older games that use the default Windows mouse input pipeline. It’s safe to assume that almost all games newer than five years or so use the so called ‘raw input’ pipeline, which is not affected by the Windows mouse acceleration.

Good call on the Batman Arkham series, those are some of my favorites and will definitely be checking those out

Despite i am not that much of a first-person-vr-immersion-enthusiast and more a bigass-theatre-wide-screen-addict, i am very much interested in how the ARKHAM SERIES could be played in vorpX full-vr.

@ToxicMike: You are so right. The vast majority of VR titles are poor in detail and boring. Only titles like skyrim that have been ported from flat to vr or flat games with VR mods available like Valheim, are great. I’ve been using vorpx since my DK2 (2015). Now with my Reverb G2 and the current Vorpx I’ve reached what I dreamed of.

LOL my oculus-rift-s wasn´t used for about a year, giving it one last shot with playing a game for the first time on a theatre-screen with bigscreen-beta (i never thought about it coz it didn´t made much sense to me, let alone that i had doubts about the experience being THAT great), before i was about to sell my vr-gear cheap, but from that moment on, i was never playing any game on my regular flat-monitor again and jacked myself into the vr-goggles with EVERY game i was playing EVERY TIME i played it. All of the sudden i was aware that i can´t ever enjoy any game without vr-goggles ever again LOL.

My best vr-experiences were SUPERHOT VR followed by HELLBLADE (interesting how absolutely great this 3rd-person game was in vr and that its vr-mode was actually coming more as a late add-on rather than an exclusive vr-game, wishing myself for even more 3rd-person games in vr!) and last but not least THE TALOS PRINCIPLE VR…and i actually loved DOOM VR, a title often downvoted negative by many users, to my surprise.

…and then there were, also to my surprise, many vr-titles preached by users in all positive ways but for me being the absolute “nightmare” in vr-games, horrifying in every negative way someone could imagine a vr-title to be. Now you might think i am talkin about vr-sickness, but that never was a big problem since i got adapted to it pretty fast, there were other major problems:

.) SERIOUS SAM VR: WTF?!?!? What do people love with this crap of a vr-game??? I love all the regular versions of SSAM but this?! Standing still while shooting into all directions, being so stressful and hectic that i actually lost every immersion from all the concentration it took for me to hit and dodge, almost getting sick from all the stress, so i tried on easier difficulty settings but then the game was too easy and boring, putting it away after 30 minutes and never loaded it up ever again.

.) Those “Bow”-Titles: What in gods name were they thinking???? The technique of shooting arrows with moving my hands in a similiar way was fun, but really….shooting more arrows at waves of enemies, than Robin Hood shot in all of his movies together, was more of a “stressful” experience rather than a joyful one, i also got that feeling (again) of losing every immersion coz the game itself took far too much of my concentration in order to hit all those enemies…..let alone that my shoulder still hurts by just thinking about those 30 minutes where i probably shot a million of virtual arrows.

.) Other more or less “mediocre” experiences/titles weren´t that great coz they were probably first generation vr-titles and only “great” on their release but i guess they´re not the titles these days to show off with, most of all coz some of those graphics are kinda like walking between “cardboard walls” rather than a “real” environment, but at least i was having the immersion of really walking inside another world…even if it was a “cardboard-world”.

…oh my..the size of this article again, sorry fellas i know i get carried away with writing way too much at times lol.

    Hi, Ralf
i use the Vorpx on occasions for gaming, and have brought many games on sale to enjoy them in VR, i have since developed an interest in music creation, using maschine software alongside my hardware..
im looking for a way to work with the software i have inside a VR enviroment using a remote VR desktop to essentially have someone else within my VR enviroment to mix&make music.. with the software i currently work with

im wondering is there going to be any move toward some form of VR remote desktop functionality in the future

also does anyone know of any Good VR remote desktop apps that would allow me&someone else to essentially control my software whilst in VR??

It seems to be there is no vorpx positional tracking, when i use my quest 2. I was playing much san anderas dispite the glitches in cutscenes on my old Rift and a big part was always vorpx positional tracking so i can look out a car window and stuff this option is crucial for me to count that as VR experince. Now its like qear VR oculus go no real tracking. I can only look around with my Head. Will this a feature in future vorpx positional tracking with inside out tracking ?

    Hi.

I’m trying to find the best options for Arma 3 with Vorpx and the resolution and fov is causing some issues.

the vorpx seems to work almost plug and play with arma 3, but the problem is the vision is too round if i can describe it right. as if the player was inside a bubble. second problem is that the fov or the resolution is off which makes the realistic vr option feel more like a screen than vr. for example you can see how characters and vehicles next to you appear to be larger at the edge of the field of view.

i use vorpx profile and have reseted it multiple times.
i guess im looking for a example of settings that work with you.

my desktop is 3440×1440 21:9 ultrawide. could this cause problems?

    thank you for the answers.

It seems like this will be a headache for more games. Metro Redux, LL and Exodus are affected also. I didn’t pay attention to it and just played through the first two games with mouse and keyboard. But now i’m going to play Exodus for my very first time and really want to make XBOX One game pad working. So let me elaborate first …

The game is working with the controller without a problem on flatscreen without VorpX. Once i start it with VorpX attached, the in-game prompts are showing keyboard prompts instead of controller ones. This would be not an issue on it’s own, but sometimes the game refuses to register gamepad inputs.

For example – the very first door in the game which you need to open to progress further .. when i stop ahead of the doors, it shows me to press E on the keyboard. Alternative controller key is X. The game refuses to register the controller input UNTIL i hold left stick in a direction. Then and only then the prompt on the HUD changes to X and i’m able to open the door. You could say, this is a workaround and it should be fine … UNTIL you encounter a QTE just few moments later and the game won’t register your input and you’re killed. This is not an annoyance anymore but it effectively stops the player from progressing through the game.

Ralf, you said that after the DirectVR scanner is done, the gamepad-to-mouse/keyboard should be turned off automatically and it should be OK. I made sure to have the autosettings feature turned ON right from the start. Started a new game and Head Tracking worked out of the box even without the scan. HUD was showing keyboard prompts.

Now i did a scan which was unsuccessfull. So i repeated it a few times without luck. I decided to continue just to learn the head tracking stopped working AND the HUD prompts were showing controller’s buttons.

So i restarted the game and the same happened as before – head tracking is working but the game shows keyboard prompts. So i tried the Scan again and this time it was successful. But the head-tracking stopped working again and the HUD prompts were showing the controller’s buttons.

Restarted the game again just to find out, the controller is not working in the game at all, but when i press DEL to show VorpX menu, it does work inside that menu.

So i restarted it again and i’m back to “normal” (headtracking works with keyboard prompts, until i do a scan after which the HT stops working and the prompts are showing controller buttons).

I also tried turning off HT while it was working. I have the Reverb G2 controllers turned off, tried changing them from Auto to Oculus Touch. But i can’t seem to find a way to keep working HT while having the game showing controller buttons instead of keyboard ones.

Now i’m really out of ideas how to proceed.

I subscribe to this, I’d like to know at least that Vorpx is doing fine, because it’s a fantastic piece of software and I’d like to use it all my life

LOL if there wouldn´t be vorpX, i actually would have sold my VR-Gear months ago and that is in my opinion coz VR-exclusives still leave a lot to be desired, let alone certain of those really do suck, so i had hard times to really get myself into VR to begin with, if i wouldn´t have realized how much of a fantastic difference it makes to play non-vr games on huge screens inside VR!

…oh and once again, those free vr-desktop programs ARE NOT the same as vorpX´s vr-desktop, first of all it´s vorpX far better quality but most of all there are too many games not running (or stuttering too much, besides drawing lots of power from hardware) on those free programs.

So much for those users saying “You could have just get yourself virtual desktops for free instead buying vorpX and using it as virtual desktop only.”

The list of games not running on free virtual desktop software has pretty increased since i started to play all my non-vr games with my vr-gear, while they all run on vorpX´s, except certain dx12 games for now.

Metro has a pre-defined controller presets which can’t be customised. I thought it would be great to do that in VorpX, but it’s not a big deal.

I’m still learning to use VorpX on-the-fly. I turned the auto-settings OFF before starting Metro LL Redux for the first time and i was wondering why is the image inside the headset stretched only to find out, the auto-settings were tunring on Windowed mode in the .CFG files, which solved the problem. But it was also changing my mouse sensitivity and audio levels for example. Hence i turned it off after it did it’s job (changing settings in .cfg files). But i’m aware that if it causes problems with the game, that’s the first thing to try and i turn it back ON. I promise :)

Reddit is the worst with their vote system.

I could write pages regarding on how lame, stupid but most of all way overrated reddit has become, calling itself “The Frontpage of the Internet” while it is actually more like the ugly mirror of it, let alone that weird and mostly negative voting-behaviour of its users (while actually completely boring and pretty dull stuff is getting upvoted to a point where i actually think it must be bots or bought upvotes coz no real person would upvote that useless crap) along with that stupid “karma system”.

Regarding vorpX I just read a few comments there but i noticed it´s just the usual useless negativity, spread by dorks who think they´d be smarter than they actually are so i skipped reading even further.

In order to make redditors actually “like” something, it either has to be a meme and/or easy to understand, nothing sort of “complicated” coz people there don´t like to use their brains a lot, that is why you find “great” stuff on the frontpage with 80k upvotes….great stuff like that one video showing a car hitting another one (being as original and interesting as the average car-crash-vid on youtube) or those memes where you can´t be sure if everyone loves it there coz it is so friggin simple and stupid or those morons probably only hittin the upvote button so much coz 100 redditors before hit it too, without actually being aware of what is behind it let alone understanding the upvoted meme at all.

The worst thing of all within reddit, is the community there decides what is good and what is bad, completely regardless of how the same thing is seen by others everywhere else, even inside reddit´s different subs there are submissions getting submitted in two rather similiar subs, getting 5k upvotes in one sub while getting downvoted mostly in the other one, and no common sense of this world could probably understand why that is happening.
