ToxicMikeParticipantTypically you are better off when you let vorpX hook into games, it can do a lot more when running inside a game, even if you only want to play in 2D. Also performance is usually better that way.
I wasn´t getting that part coz i actually thought making it hook can also cause certain problems with certain games and i would be better off to avoid those with not letting it hook in the first place, since it doesn´t need to be hooked in order to play them in 2D anyway.
While you can use the vorpX desktop viewer for playing games ofc if you want, that’s not really what it was made for originally.
Some users buy vorpX and expect it to work flawlessly in full-vr mode with every game and that are those who mostly end up giving unfair negative reviews on vorpX, while they probably wouldn´t give such negative ratings when they would as well make use of and enjoy those other options besides just going in full-vr.
Anyway, i am about to leave my vorpX 2D experience for a couple of hours now and try using it for “what it was made originally” for my first time ever on vorpX.
….just hope people are fast with replying in the troubleshooting section tho…LOL.

swattParticipantOk so yes, I’m already running Windowed (and always was), so let’s rule that out for now.
When I change the game resolution down to 1920×1080, the vorpX cursor is way off inside VR, like half a screen away. On-screen Wow cursor is fine.
That’s why I tried changing the screen resolution for that monitor so that it matches the game resolution, but still very low fps.
I will do the profile reset and see. Where do I reset the profile? There is so much information, I’m not sure what exactly to reset. Hopefully not the entire thing and all my settings, excluded programs, etc.
I see a Restore Game Settings option. This tells me that VorpX does something with the settings. And I was assuming it would do what’s necessary to make the game work well in VR. Could you maybe point me to information of what exactly VorpX does to change a game to work in VR?
Thanks much!

ToxicMikeParticipantlooks op is missing vorpx whole point.
…i think the same thing about game developers probably missing the whole point of nvidia´s RTX cards when i look at how sadly RAYTRACING is used…IF it´s even used….or is it dead already and i missed the news?
but he should also try the amazing others vorpx features ^^
There are other vorpX features than just having a virtual 2D screen inside my vr-goggles?
;-)

forlaunchcastParticipantI got What Remains of Edith Finch to work with no problem. Seemed to work just like any Steam game. Is excellent in vorpx. But, yeah, to change the resolution of the game (nothing to do with vorpx), I had to get inside the stupid protected files to find the gamesettings.ini file which was a pain.

ToxicMikeParticipantsince maybe a year almost nothing good has been released for PSVR anymore.
PCVR same thing – when you look at the pcvr releases the last year.. most of them are small crappy games. So I’m extremely happy with Vorpx, especially now that I have it running perfectly on my G2.
The extremely low amount of good VR games released lately does make me worry a bit about the future of VR in general.Yes i also noticed a certain lack of new (and most of all “good/interesting”) vr-games on steam, i am usually not that negative but i was thinking to myself like “Is this already the beginning of the end?”
Well let´s hope not, even that i don´t really care about real/full vr-titles and mostly play on immersive-screen-modes, when VR is dead then so is vorpx and everything else related to VR. My worries are even more when i remember 3D-Blu-Rays/TV-Sets, who are officially abandoned by the industry already one or two years ago (still some people aren´t aware of this and wonder about missing 3D movies), i mean…3D still ain´t VR, but if people aren´t ready for this, as they obviously weren´t for 3D, then….well i don´t wanna think about it too much, it´s still too early i guess.
On the other hand….who would want to watch 3D movies on a expensive 3D-tv set when you can have huge theater screens in 3D inside vr goggles? So 3D could have its resurrection once more people figure out how great it is to watch a movie inside vr goggles (i actually had doubts about it myself, before i tried it)
@ToxicMike,
It almost sounds like your games are flat on the screen? Are you sure you have 3D enabled for your games? Its not like a flat screen at all. Its just a boxed in view of a VR world in full 3D. Its not a “2d screen” at all. I certainly feel like I’m “inside the game”. Thats the whole point.WTF? Wait wait…with the possibility of making myself look like a complete dork now…i am still new to vorpX and i am still not sure about that “3D” look of games? And yes, i see a flat screen inside my goggles, nothing 3D, well at least i haven´t tried yet or looked into such an option.
Does that mean i could use that 3D mode (gotta dig into it in how to activate it) on every game or most games???
I already enjoy my games on this virtual bigass screen and don´t ever wanna get back to my tiny 32inch monitor, but then also in 3D?
“You gotta be fu**in kiddin me!”

ToxicMikeParticipantSince its fully 3D, I think of it more like looking through a window into a VR world. I don’t really think of it as a “screen” since it fill my whole FOV, and looks 3D.
Well of course that´s right what you say, especially being “surrounded” by this ambient gamescreen-light is something completely missing with any real world screen and adding lots to the atmosphere, but still “vr games” do first of all mean something like “being inside” a game rather than looking at it onto a 2d-screen (even if it´s inside this virtual world), but that is still how i am playing and enjoying them and for sure VR wasn´t just made to experience games this way mostly.
i already said it many times, but Ralf should be awarded & recognized by the whole game industry for this incredible software.
Not sure about the gaming industry in general, but for sure the VR industry should not only honor Ralf but also be very thankful for him and his software, i mean in my case it saved VR for me! If i wouldn´t have found myself playing on this immersive vr-screen, i´d have dumped VR one month ago coz from all my “vr-disappointments” i wasn´t even interested in HALF-LIFE:ALYX anymore.
So in my opinion vorpX did far more for VR than they expected HL:Alyx to do, let alone that Alyx is getting old anyway, but vorpX not.
Getting back to vorpX´s immersive screen and wishes users here have made public. I think i read a few comments where people wanted to have the option to make the screen even bigger plus more distance options:
First of all i think it would be better not to have too many options, coz i often find myself trying out different ways for way too long and still can´t make up my mind what is finally better for my taste, on the other hand…i would definitely say “YES!” to the option of increasing screen size along with increasing distance. Hopefully this would be something Ralf puts into his mind within the next few updates, but i can also live with it not happening.

BuddyLeviathanParticipantI would also love to get this working. The only way I can get it to even begin to run is by loading up the desktop viewer and playing it inside of there.

riccardo8989Participantusing vorpx on quest2 when I start the game in the viewer I see a window with inside the game and it is not a real experience in vr, of course I set in the vorpx full vr menu, if I zoom in on the textures, what can I do to solve the problem?

DiverToughParticipantI’m having a similar issue. It launches and starts on my desktop with the vorpX watermark at the bottom but doesn’t display on my screen. Battlefield 4 and Titanfall 2 both work as expected through origin and I’ve disable origin overlay inside of all origin games. Not sure what’s different about BF3.

maxiej123ParticipantHey guys I just got a rift s and it’s been pretty great so far with the already working profiles like journey and abzu. But last night I tried to play at dead of night through vorpX and it hooked through the hook helper but I was getting black glitches with square borders on my monitor and going on inside my headset I never experienced this with my windows mixed reality headset so a fix or any tips would be greatly appreciated to fix this .

ParotakuParticipantYes, there is depth… it varies depending on the scene (maybe there are some rendering ‘tricks’ used in some scenes to avoid some heavy load on the GPU) but, for instance, on the shot where the 2 robots are approaching from far away, you can clearly see the grass is on the foreground and the robots in the background…
Also, Adam the main robot is often displayed on the foreground…Again, it’s just a test I’ve made and I decided to share it… I used the profile from ‘Inside’ as a base as it uses Unity too, but if you find a profile that gives better results, feel free to share!;)

AshroParticipantIt should just work normally. The game has an issue with losing input focus occasionally though when run windowed. Clicking inside the game window should help with that if it happens.
Thank you for the prompt response, I restarted VORPX and HMD, and it worked. (probably just needed your response:) While, I have you here.. Since I’m getting an RTX 3080 this week, I was hoping to check if VORPX supports a custom resolution of 6k? Anything specific to keep in mind?
