The easiest way to play the game is with everything set to default. The default settings are dialed in to just work without any tinkering at all.

I would highly recommend to do just that, you won’t even notice that the image is cut off at the top/bottom after a little while.

If you really can’t live with the bars, you will have to raise the game’s FOV beyond what it allows normally with a mod:

    1. Download and run the mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil7/mods/23.
    2. Set the FOV to 127 in the mod.
    3. Set the Image Zoom to 1.0 in vorpX.
    4. For a crisper image raise the ‘Resolution Scaling’ in the game’s graphics options.

Aspect ratio: Only with a 16:9 res the game will ever fully fill the view in the headset, at narrower aspect ratios it displays black bars itself. Also the FOV value for the mod will have to be slightly lower for 1440×900, probably something around 120.

Controllers: Either just move them out of sight or disable them in the vorpX menu. They will also disappear after a while when they go to sleep.

Hi guysss, so i am new to this app and i wanted to play resident evil 7, the first time i seen that the image was like a box or cinema screen it was not fullscreen so i searched and i found out that i can zoom the image, ok i can zoom in the image and its not looking like the objects are entering my face but the thing is the game is becoming very blurry and the max resolution i can put in the game is 1440×900 because of my monitor, do i really need a 16:9 resolution and i also tried the FOV trainer into the game directory and setting, i think at first changed but i dont know, i dont see the change (i am barely at the beggining of the game).

Also if i want to play with just my keyboard how can i make the controller disappear, i like to play much more with them because its more immersive when i am standing but… i cant do all things with the controllers like i can do with a keyboard.

In Task Manager, I Ended Task on Windows Defender, some Nvidia stuff, and a Logitec app for my mouse. The rest was Windows 10 system, Steam, or vorpx stuff. But FOV scan still fails for all my games.

I did try to fix Bioshock Infinite and Halo 4 manually, but (and I know I probably sound dumb), I can’t find 3D FOV Enhancement in the in game vorpx menu. Am I crazy, or is the setting missing in these games in geometry mode? Or do I have to turn off Direct VR memory mode for it to appear?

P.S. Three weeks ago, I was able to do it all manually for Resident Evil 3 2020, but it may have been partly the First Person Mod.

In the video from Paradise Decay at the 47:41 mark you can see this shadow(?) glitch and he mentions a user profile that supposed to get rid of it? https://youtu.be/tX10XCk09I8?t=2861

Does anyone know what profile he is referring to or just know how to fix this manually?

That did it! Every resolution problem i had has been solved by this. Resident Evil 7, Half Life 2, Black Mesa, Portal, Dishonored, Bioshock, they all look better than i couldve imagined!

The problem was that i tried to be clever when setting the custom resolutions and used 90hz.
Now at 60hz every game lets me choose them and its incredibly beautiful! My Monitor is still at 1440p@165hz and i strangely have to use fullscreen in my headset everywhere to get the desired resolution but it works great!

    Thank you so much!

I haven’t logged onto the game in like forever, but I got on and verified that the Z3D is working. No G3D and the z-adaptive is weak if it even works. You may have better results with a different dx9 profile – Unreal Engine 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect 3, Resident Evil 4 – lot of them to try out. The z-normal with Dragon’s Dogma looked pretty good in the brief moments that I logged in though, so if you’re happy with that then I wouldn’t bother.

    To play in Z3D:

    1. Make a copy of devilmaycry5.exe.
    2. Make a copy of the Resident Evil 7 profile.
    3. Assign the copy of devilmaycry5.exe to the copy of the Resident Evil 7 profile.
    4. Run the copy.
    5. Ignore the messed up G3D and go to z-normal/adaptive mode.
    6. Enjoy playing the game in Z3D.
    7. Pay my consultation fee. Never mind – this was a no-brainer since Devil May Cry 5 uses the RE engine.

i heared and even saw a video of resident evil 4 support in vr i dont know if re5 is supported, but i would like to test both

is it possible to map vr controller movements into keyboard/mouse inputs? i would like to be able to aim with my VR controllers.. wonder if someone have tried.

by the way re4 or re5 are perfect for this game because in this game you cannot aim while you’re moving. so i think its a perfect game to squeeze all the vorpx potential.

No, you can run games at any resolution you want with vorpX.

1440p will typically look quite good, but if performance allows for a game go as high as you can. For an optimal experience you can add resolutions to your PC that it does not support normally, check the ‘Custom Resolutions’ section in the vorpX help for a detailed step-by-step guide. This method works with basically any game.

For Resident Evil 7 specifically it’s even easier than that since the game has a render size multiplier in its options menu. Per default vorpX sets it to 1.3, but you can try someting higher unless that hurts performance too much. Can’t recall currently how the option is called, but should be easy enough to spot in the game’s video/graphics options.

BTW: high resolutions can be further enhanced by applying some mild sharpening in the vorpX menu.

Hi i bought a VorpX license last week, i decided to get into it today, i tried Alien Isolation and Resident Evil 7, both seem pretty good in VR (but blurry compared to native vr games) but the problem i’m having is my oculus touch controllers keep alerting me to pick them up when in game, and my xbox controller keeps flicking back and forth to the keyboard.

Basically i just want to control the game with my controller, i found the games unplayable so far because of the constant switching, i looked in the VorpX in-game keybindings and it just shows keyboard bindings so no option to disable anything.

Also is there a way to make Resident Evil 7 run a bit better and less blurry? i’m running it on a 2080ti, ryzen 3800x and 16gb of ddr 4 3200, and when i’m outside it drops to 40 fps, inside it bounces around 60-70 and i’d like to have consistent frames

    Edit: i’m using a Oculus Rift S

I’ve been using vorpx for all my games now and i can’t go back…my ps4 is literally collecting dust…i’m Happy and Willing to wait for FF7 to come to pc just to use vorpX ..but my only thing is..with some games like resident evil 2 for example the frame rates are too low which causes a jittery game play. Oculus has a tool that supposedly helps the frame rate but i never see a difference at all.. i hear oculus has a low frame rate issue due to its software…is this true? would i do better getting a Htc Vive?

I have much more higher performance in the Resident Evil 2 with more higher settings.
I heard that this problem is not only mine:
Cite: “Strong CPU limitation (3 core bug?) especially when in the street going out of the metro station in the RE3 demo.
Framerate goes from 105fps in 2D to < 25fps in 3D (on an old i5 2500k@4.4ghz) with only 35-40% gpu use (rtx 2600).”
I have much newer CPU, but fps as lowest as him.

It works fine on my oculus, index and Hp Reverb it renders in 3D just like Resident Evil 2 true 3D. I just played 20 minutes or so and I’m at the part where you open the first safe for the scope.

    I’m using NVidia 445.78 drivers.
    My settings in are
    RenderMode Normal
    Refresh Rate 59.94
    Frame Rate 60
Resolution which works the best is 1920 x 1080

I came here also to get help for Titanfall 2. I was trying to get RE2 to play using VorpX, and it took a lot of work over several days but I finally got it (only hooked “sometimes”) and the results were terrible. I eventually gave up. I read one of the official threads recommending Titanfall 2 as one of the best VorpX games. So I got the game just to use with VorpX.

It looks TERRIBLE. I couldn’t stand it for more than 30 seconds. It hooks fine “sometimes”, but the imagine is very low res and grainy, the 3d is… I dunno, just really strange, a bit distorted. It’s also very dark (it was before I went in and made the settings very bright, but I think it wasn’t really natural). So I think sometimes gotta be wrong. First Resident Evil 2, and now this which is supposed to be great.

What am I missing? I used the default VorpX profile for both btw.

Edit: Just some specs. AMD Ryzen 7 1800X. Windows 10 Ent. 16GB Ram. RTX 2080SUPER. Valve Index. Up till now, I can run everything in full settings at 4k, and all VR games (native) at full res with high frame rates (currently playing Alyx at highest settings).
