In reply to: vorpX 23.1.0 BETA

I’ve played with the beta quite a bit now, with the following results:

Cyberpunk: AFR works on my 3D Display! That’s fantastic! I’m having a few issues where the depth will flatten out and then turn back on a frame or two later, but this does not appear to be performance related, or at least not entirely. I can sit there with settings that cause a scene to run at, say, 57fps, or 55fps instead of 60, and all is good. But other times the stereoscopy will flip off very briefly. I think it may be micro-stutters on texture loading. If this can be fixed then this is a fantastic solution for those with 3D Displays as AFR looks fantastic at only 60hz/fps on such a display, whereas AFR is almost unusable (to me, anyway) below 90hz/fps on an HMD. I have tried HAGS both ON and OFF to try and resolve the micro-flattening issue, but without success.

Universal: Neither Z3D solutions work on my 3D display with the beta, in any title. It’s just completely flat and Z3D does absolutely nothing. Bummer. Sure hope that can be fixed before the final release as I use vorpX with my 3D display almost as often as I use it with my HMD.

Cyberpunk: Running the HMD sync mode as follows for my Pimax 8k-x seems to provide the most consistent experience (and also provides the highest in-game fps): Sync method: Slow, HMD Multithreading: ON, vorpX frame-rate limiter: 50%, HMD refresh 90. (That is with the standard beta vorpX, not the Cyberpunk-specific mod.)

Using the latest version of the mod with the DLSS3 v1.61 cyberpunk it’s unplayable on my rtx 4080 no matter how much I play around with every setting. Much worse using directvr than z-normal/adaptive for some reason.
With v1.61 (non-DLSS3) and writing over the mod with the previous version of CET made for vanilla 1.61 it was buttery smooth with all settings on ultra using z-normal (directvr wasnt available).
Surely I can’t be the only one?

So far the only games I can get to run is fallout 3 and oblivion everything else, even cyberpunk with and with out the mod you guys have on your page I get a white hourglass icon that spins and you here the music.

I have even tried lowering the graphics to the lowest settings available (which of course make the games look like trash) and still the same thing. I can watch 3d SBS movies find in it but I was able to do that in Bigscreen VR. and I can run VR games like skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR on high settings no issues.

    So, I downloaded the mod.

Went through the tutorial. Got the green tick with all the gestures. Started the game and not all the controls work.

The trigger controls do work to access the Vorpx menu.
The headset works to look around the game.
But the oculus controller buttons including thumbstick don’t work.

Also, when I change any graphics settings in the game menu it doesn’t seem to make a difference in the oculus. I presume the Vorpx menu overrides the game system settings.

I can use my mouse and keyboard.

I’ve tried re-installing cyberpunk through STEAM. I’ve turned off theatre mode. I’ve tried reinstalling the vorpx mod. I’ve tried stationary boundary and room boundary.

I read in another post that DX12 will probably not be an option (plus, Witcher 3 uses DX11>DX12 layer by MS, which means it probably will never run well with RT). Oh well, since i’ve got the feeling that v4 DX11 looks worse than v1.31/32 i may roll back and stay with the classic release. It feels like they changed weather and postprocessing for the worse in v4 (except *Blood And Wine*, which looks much better in the new version :)

I’m seeing *terrible* performance with RT in Witcher 3 even with a 4090 – much worse than Cyberpunk. Furthermore, the poor performance is largely unaffected with reduced resolutions or reduced DLSS quality modes (unlike Cyberpunk where these both work as normal.) RT is acting as a ‘destroy performance regardless of any other settings’ toggle. Too bad, as Next-Gen Witcher 3 definitely looks worse with RT off than the Classic did. Unsolvable on our end I suspect.

Hi Ralf or anyone else, does no one have any suggestions of anything I could possibly do to try and narrow down what the cause of this might be? I have just updated to the latest beta release of VorpX (I did a full uninstall and reinstall), which may have improved things very marginally, but nowhere near the point of it being playable. Displayed frame rate in Cyberpunk 2077 is now around 30 for the game and around 70 – 80 for the headset, but the same problem persists that the actual update rate from turning the headset appears below 1 fps. Note that the game was started from within the virtual desktop with my main monitor turned off. Turning the 3D mode to Z3D or to Off has no noticeable impact and changing the game graphics settings between low and ultra also has very little impact.
In case it helps to isolate the problem, the poor performance is present to some extent even in the main menu of the game before a level is loaded.

    Hello Friends!

Last weak i tride to set up the Vorpx VR mod on Cyberpunk 2077, but problems arise with the synchronization of images for both eyes. And terribly low FPS.

The settings in the game are minimal. But my computer is not weak. amd 3950x rtx3080ti.

I have set the resolution in the game to 2160*2160

The FPS indicator shows 25 fps in the game and 32 fps for the helmet.

My helmet is PICO 4, in the Vorpx settings I chose OpenRX.
    Connection via VD.

So far I have no idea how to solve this. Please tell me which way to dig .

Note, I forgot to mention in the original post, but the Graphic settings in Cyberpunk 2077 are set to Low with Raytracing disabled.

Very good news Ralf. Can’t wait to give it a try. Are you considering functionality that integrates with Gervant First Person mod? Or at the very least making sure you don’t preclude the use of it? It’s absolutely transformative. A PITA to get setup, but worth it.

Side note: RT performance is behaving very strangely for me in this title; when I turn it on it’s as if the engine just gives up and refuses to give me 60fps in complex scenes. Settings don’t overcome this issue. I can dial all the way down to 1080p and even use DLSS on top of that, and it will just sit there in complex scenes at about 58 fps with my 4090 running at low usage. Cyberpunk does not behave this way so I think it’s some sort of driver or game inefficiency with RT. It does this as soon as I turn RT on; just the “global RT” is enough to do it. It’s proving extremely problematic as I need to hit at least 60fps for sync.

I’m having a problem with Cyberpunk and the mod/VorpX. I have 2 hmd’s, 8KX and Quest 2. If i try to run the game and the mod in my 8KX i get as far as steamvr starting and the game starting in 2D, but nothing else appears in my 8KX. It’s the same with VorpX client, but it states VorpX is attaching but nothing else happens.

Similar happens with my Quest 2. With the mod and VorpX I get a splash screen saying the game is starting in my hmd but the actual game only starts in 2D.

I am careful to choose the right runtime in VorpX config/mod settings. I make sure I alter with regedit my VR runtime config for Oculus or SteamVR. All other games work ok.

I’m currently re-installing the game and will try again. Any ideas appreciated.

I mean is it possible to save the settings as a separate backup file? This way if I need to reinstall the game then I can reload my settings from before

eg would copying the .vpa and .ini files in: [Cyberpunk 2077]\bin\x64\plugins\vpxCP2077\Data\
be one way to make a backup of the settings?

BTW I am loving the gestures, they are really the next best thing to 6DOF interactions

Hey everyone, having a bit of an annoyance.
The game plays fine in all modes, no flatline errors.
However, I’m getting real crisp fps, but then suddenly (right now I have it reproducible in my save where in the tutorial where Jackie drops you off at home, he goes “Sweet dreams!” and it will ALWAYS crash out to desktop) it crashes out to desktop. In oculus mode it does the black screen hourglass and takes me back to home, in steamvr mode it sends me back to steamvr home.

I have crash logs from both vorpx and a gpu-crash that is ultimately what I think is the cause. It’s a 6700XT.

    Cyberpunk very low fps 3080

Hi I’ve spent 5 hours try various different settings in game and with the vorpx menu (delete key) but still get only 30-40fps but also a lot of extreme juttery movement. The cpu and gpu sit at around 70% utilisation. I’m using a 3080 and i7 7700k with 16gb ram on a ssd on windows 11. I’ve tried the different vr modes and different resolution modes. (Low to ultra) in game and in vorpx. No ray tracing and low settings on both in game and the mod.

I’m reading there is the vorpx mod that I downloaded on the website and used the .exe. But there is also a standalone mod?

What is better a combination of in game dlss/fsr with vorpx fsr? A specific Resolution in game and using very nice/phenomenal? Do I lower the resolution in oculus desktop app to a certain resolution?

Any help in getting a smoother frame rate with ok visuals would be greatly appreciated thanks
