Played the beginning of Ep. 1 myself two years back or so after implementing VR controller support standing with Touch controllers.
How do you implement VR controller support?
Do you mean so you can aim with your hand /controller like in true VR game?
You may have to run the DirectVR scanner (from the vorpX menu or by pressing ALT-L). vorpX can cache DirectVR values for the Half-Life 2 games, but the cache may be outdated in case of some game update.
If all works as intended, it should behave like the base game. Played the beginning of Ep. 1 myself two years back or so after implementing VR controller support standing with Touch controllers. One of my best VR experiences hands down.
sounds like you ran into exactly the same problem i did with the GTA mod :\ Kinda disappointed cause they literally say on their site itll work with oculus… they just dont include the fact it doesnt support the touch controllers entirely, was just a waste of time for you and me to try it – little annoying. lol
Honestly id recommend Dead Effect 2 VR over Doom 3 BFG Modded, but if you liked doom 3, itll be a fun ride cause you use your fingers to point and touch things and everything, touch is 100% integrated.
There is a mod for Half life 1 that supports touch? Did you use vorpx for it or is it standalone?
To be honest – i havent managed to get any of those games Touch controller mods to work in the first place.. I had some luck with GTA5 but the controls were not working 100%, but i could use my touch controllers to a degree, might work better on a Valve headset tho, it sounded like the GTA5 VR mod was designed with Valves stuff in mind
Only other game i know that has a full VR conversion with touch controls working is Doom 3 BFG and that mod doesnt require vorpx, but its out there if you wanted to look for it.
wish i had more to offer but i dont think theres very many games that fall into this category unfortunately
@Ralf – ok, but how can i get rid of this “upscaled” feeling? – it’s really wired to play that way.
@TheBalt – i’m on VR community since vive – sot pretty early, but i was always playing original VR games – the best one for me (for now) was Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – after finishing i’ve got vorpX to play some full title again but as i said it’s not even touching that experience.
I’ll try walking dead – thanks for mentioning.
Hello,
I have a problem with Fallout 3 GOTY the GOG Version.
When I launch the game there is only a black screen on startup, sometimes there is a big flashing grey triangle. The sound is ok. I can’t even bring up the vorpx-menu in the game. I tried different resolutions and settings but it always looks like this.
When I pause the watcher the game starts normal and everything is fine.
When I first start the game and then select ‘resume watcher’ it tries to attach to fallout 3.exe but after some time I get an error message.
My system:
AMD Ryzen 7 2700
AMD Radeon R380 (drivers up to date)
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
16GB RAM
Oculus Rift with touch controllers
vorpx version 20.1.1
I hope someone can help me because Fallout 3 was one of the most important reasons for me to buy vorpx.
Hi,
I use Vorpx now some days and while the most time keymapping fits standard in games I encounter games where I have to swap keys.
my setup is Rift-S with touch controllers.
When I switch to the ingame config menu and like to adjust the mapping of the touch controller keys while using keyboard emulation I found no way of changing the keys.
I can select a button to remap and then …? How am I able to slect the key that is emulated i.e. Return key or F key or even just the J of the keyboard. All I can do is to press a button on the touch controller and map his keys to the new button.
I searched around and could’t find any answer. If solution is already posted anywhere just point me to it.
Regards and thx
Just a heads-up that there should no need to any of this. Since two versions ago there is an official profile that should work without any workarounds.
Hey Ralf, quick Q for you about the outer worlds profile and i saw atleast one other user with the same issue – Headtracking just randomly dies. Well, not randomly – it tends to work if you walk a few steps, stop, look around, etc.. but if you touch the right control stick it “kills” the headtracking and makes you use only the stick for looking around… then if you walk forward a bit and dont touch right stick, it will reenable headtracking.
i would blame this on my own lack of understanding of vorpx or doing something wrong, but another user reported the same problem. didnt know if it was something you could look at that might be getting wires crossed there for some players.
thanks so much for all your work and i am currently enjoying you jedi fallen order profile, thanks so much for it! Its a blast!
What does this feature do? Don’t think I’ve ever touched it
Hi Guys
I played WoW classic since release but after ~2 weeks the 3D reconstruction isnt working anymore. I can Play in cinema mode but only in 2D. I did test WoW retail and it worked without any problems so it must be a WoW classic only problem.
There was a WoW update and a vorpX update and I dont know wich of them couse the problem. I think there is some problem with the hooking method but also the alternativ one isnt solving anything. I dint touch anything else so no driver updates or anything else.
Maybe someone have a similar issue and know the solution.
Many Thanks
Just tried Deus Ex Human Revolution with Vorpx but once in the game I can’t read any on screen text, whether it be subtitles or data pads. The text is all blurred or jumbled looking.
I set the resolution to 1920X1080. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Does it look like this for any of you? Maybe it’s a result of the 3D being too high. I didn’t touch anything though. This is how it’s looking at default.
Hi. Im new to Vorpx, read many topics for HL2 and Vorpx settings but still can`t manage to run it properly ( Latest Vorpx and Oculus Rift S ). First of all there is flickering problem on all resolutions ( 1600×1200, 1920×1440 ) and the FOV is broken – the picture is zoomed in. Is there a solution for all this issues? The profile is default and untouched.
Hi, TheBalt. Thanks for your answer. I was playing this game with vorpx more than one year ago. I got tired to wait for an official port, so I wanted to get back and play the game with vorpx. At the time, I was able playing with the touch controllers, using them basically as a gamepad (never had any other pretense). I’m just saying that now, when I enter the game the touch’s buttons seem like are not answering properly. In VR I cans see the virtual labels on the controllers. And they are recognized. The only problem is that they seems not interacting with the game.
Okay – my bad 4 misunderstanding.. then i genuinely dont know what a resolution would be… youve aready tried disabling known game overlays, on and off. Could be something with steam controller integration if overlay is allowed on?
sorry. just spitballing now cause i really am not sure, let me think about it a bit more and see if i can think of what else it might be, i dont have a rift s either so i cant run tests, running on cv1 with touch controllers

I’m using a Rift S. I enter in the game, the rift controllers are visible, but cannot press the start a new game button.. Any idea?
RE7 doesnt have motion control support to my understanding and would be more likely to operate on just a plugged in ps4 or xbox controller.
vorpx doesnt create motion tracking in a game – thats impossible without the actual developers creating the code for it.
Vorpx displays old games in variations of 3d, but thats the extent of the program. in some cases Ralf has managed 6dof (which is incredible btw, he deserves credit for that)…. but Ralf cant ‘create’ motion tracking in a game he makes a profile for.
You CAN use oculus controllers with Vorpx, but they wont be tracked or anything, theyll just operate as a normal gampad, but thats a setting in the vorpx menus if you press the DEL button on your keyboard and scroll thru.
I think youre misunderstanding what this program does.. or you only have oculus controllers and have no choice but to use them – if thats the case, you can set up controls for touch in vorpx settings DEL menu in game
