RalfKeymasterThe controller as gamepad options are kept simple on purpose. vorpX has far too many options already. Some things have to be kept simple.
The solution to your request is the method described above. It allows you to map any vorpX hotkeys to the controllers.
Alternatively you can run DirectVR scans from the vorpX ingame menu, which also works with Touch controllers configured as gamepad.

OculusRiftRocksParticipantokay but I was hoping to keep xbox controllers enabled, this is the ideal situation as you get analogue movement & better button prompts, in addition i was hoping to keep as many buttons free as possible as the amount of buttons is limited on the touch controller, the main case is mirrors edge where you need to do a scan on each boot up so
start mirrors edge
get up and stand up in special area away from keyboard,
get into game with 3D world, take 20 seconds with menu navigations etc.
press and hold both thumbstick for 2 seconds for VR scan
continue to use xbox gamepad options buttons for analogue movementwould be the ideal situation, otherwise each time you’d want to play the game would be a menu dreg assuming you want to kepe xbox control scheme.
maybe there are some other workarounds to this, maybe you can make one button a keyboard key and keep everything else xbox and the game thinks im using a gamepad, i haven’t looked into it, but my suggestion would seem to be the most logical if you -in the worse case scenario – have to do a scan on each boot up and your standing up with touch controllers in xbox mode, to have a press and hold 2x+ buttons for x seconds.
keep in mind the end goal -in many peoples eyes- is stand up VR with gamepad support for analogue movement and better button prompts.

OculusRiftRocksParticipantcan have, for example press and hold Left and Right thumbstick on touch for 2+ Seconds to scan directVR, this would be very useful as having keyboad shortcuts is not ideal for VR, some games require a new scan on each new start up.
can have this in the in-game key bindings menu in the control panel, you could also bind anything else in that menu to the touch controller but the real reason for this would be the directVR scan.
Thanks

xrc6ParticipantIn general vorpX works with every headset that supports either the Oculus runtime or Steam VR. Pimax 4K and Windows MR are known to work fine and are used by quite a few users.
Can’t say much about the Pimax 8k yet. 200 degrees are technically impossible with a single “camera” as used in current “flat game” rendering though. The theoretical maximum is 180, the more reasonable max. FOV you should assume with vorpX is 140-150, provided games allow FOVs that high.
The maximum resolution is only limited by your PCs performance, that has always been the case with vorpX.
Maybe the virtual screen mode can be zoomed in enough to cover most of the peripheral? I’m a backer so I’m supposed to be getting one within the next couple of months or so, will be interesting to see how the Pimax 8k will upscale VorpX enabled games. I’m happy enough to know that it’s possible that it may function at all since I don’t play too many actual VR games anyway.
The pimax has real good user ratings as far i can read from the internet, but i fear that headtracking and controllers would not be good as with the vive/oculus.
I know it uses the Vive 2.0 tracking system so it should be virtually the same. The controllers are still in design but they are knuckle based with sensors for each finger so you can open hand but I’m sure the game has to support it first. Or you can of course just use the Vive wands instead but I don’t think they are sold separately which is a shame.
Controllers won’t release until end of year anyway. I don’t even have the Touch controllers for my Rift so I’m hoping I can get by somehow without them.Apr 25, 2018 at 6:08am #172574In reply to: GTA V – Official Recommendation
haintsParticipantCan you tell us that custom resolution that you chose..? and do you use the grandtheftautovr mod..?
I think I ended up with 1440×1080. I am not currently using the GTA VR mod but I want to. I tried it and thought it was cool but there was a conflict between it and vorpx with the touch controls (even though it was meant to be used with vorpx?) so you pretty much had to remap everything on the left controller which was kind of a pain in the ass. But I will go back to it someday.

dellrifter22ParticipantI’m aware that AA and upscaling can interfer, so I never touch the scaler and always test the various AAs. I already tried the alt-tab, alt-enter tricks that often work. Even changing resolution, which only brought back brief z-buffer during the death cam.
Before official, I was using Battlefield 1’s profile which required these tricks at the start of every round, but somehow you were able to fix this in official release.
I haven’t changed any settings from what had previously worked (a month ago perhaps), though the game has received some update patches since, hence my suspicion. Again, curious if it presently works on your machine.
I’ll try defaulting the settings tomorrow to see what happens. Thanks for the reply.

RJK_ParticipantRalf, is it possible to get in touch with you via Email ? I used the Contact Form for some comments before but i wasnt shure if they have reached you. I have some constructive thoughts which i would prefer not discuss in the forum.

haintsParticipantSorry if it’s been covered, but is anyone successfully running the grandtheftvr.com mod? Whenever I add the mod, the screen is warped around the edges. I’ve tried multiple resolutions, but nothing seems to correct it except for deleting the mod.
I didn’t have that issue. I couldn’t get the touch controls to work right because vorpx had remapped them all in a way that didn’t work well with grandtheftvr–but I didn’t get screen warping.

RalfKeymasterNot sure what might have changed in this regard, the game hasn’t been touched in a long time. I’ll take a look at it.

onetooParticipantI use the fov mod and I just tested it (with and without) and it is working for me.

Have you tried the GTA V VR mod? It has its own FOV handling ng method that overrides anything else. You can only use it via steam (set vorpx to htc Vive). It hasn’t been updated in a while, but still works.
Are you using GTA V VR mod with a Rift? When I tried it on mine it looked amazing but the touch controls were all messed up–I could only walk in a diagonal line.
When you play GTA V with vorpx do you ever use a gamepad? If you do do you run into an issue in first person mode when walking backwards you walk forwards instead? It only happens if you aren’t carrying a weapon.
I play with the controller. I only have Dk2 but i have to play via steam since the head tracking doesn’t work with Oculus Home. Using the DK2 is probably why i don’t have stability issues either (lower requirements). Honestly, i only use it to drive using a wheel, but the few times i used a gun, i didn’t have any control issues with walking. I do change the settings to benefit using a controller more with the VR Mod (don’t recall the settings right now). One of my biggest issues with this mod is that i can’t save my changes. I talked to the dev a few months ago, and he said he would work on something, but i didn’t hear back from him.

morbidexpressionParticipantWow, I was still working my way through stuff added in the last update! Amazing burst of methodical work, I feel almost spoiled by the selection of games and look forward to revisiting a lot of these, proper geometry mode adds such a surreal touch to these experiences that really amps up the nostalgia on old favorites.
If you’re going to increase the output rate on profiles of this quality, definitely time to revisit monetization schemes for VorpX late this year maybe — because I wouldn’t mind paying for a few more years of this. Something that’s fair and makes both parties feel like they are getting value for money and money for time spent.
Surprised someone hasn’t tried to absorb you into their corporate blob by now and confined your work to their games or hardware. I suppose it’s been more for adventurous, tinkering types but you are getting closer to a smoother, friendlier experience with every release and surely the acquisition vultures will circle.
Feb 27, 2018 at 9:43am #171306In reply to: Virtual screen is not centered in vision
neaumusicParticipantUgh, this is driving me crazy man, especially because you’re so determined that it’s correct. UI element that should be in the center, but it’s not. I have to look up and to the right. You say this is how it’s supposed to be, but it’s obviously not correct.
I can zoom out with Shift+Scroll so that bottom corners of the screen touch the circle of my vision with my right eye, but if I just use my left eye, I cannot see the bottom right corner. Obviously not in the center, so stop telling me its right!!!
Lol, I really like this project and the game is BEAUTIFUL, but I can’t use it without adjusting my camera’s left <—> right. Anyways man, thanks for the replies and please let me know if camera left right can be adjusted!!

RalfKeymasterTry a factory reset or reinstall and do not touch any sync related settings afterwards except “Fluid Sync”, which you can safely set to your liking. Under normal circumstances there is absolutely no reason to set any of the other sync settings to something else than their default values, I should probably remove them.

RalfKeymasterNo need to worry re ModOrganizer, you can still use it. The only thing that is different now is that inactive profiles aren’t touched by the DirectVR settings optimizer anymore.
Also you apparently overlooked Kingdom Come Deliverance, which you explitely mentioned in the wishlist thread just a few ago.
