ParticipantNew versions will automatically install for you. But, if you are here for Valhalla specifically, Ralf is working on it and it will be released sometime after xmas when he is able to fix it.

ParticipantAnd yesa VorpX profile will be awesome, as it keeps crashing with superdepth.

Participant@ Fritomaster,
then you’re doing it wrong.dborosev
Participant“zbuffer isn’t substantially better way to play games compared to normal Monitor”
Huh? I’m a dedicated gamer and I will never play anything on flat monitor again as long as I live. It is much better than flat. Its stereo 3D.

ParticipantI’m really liking Valhalla much more than I liked Odyssey. I found Odyssey too kidsy, with cartoony over the top extravagant NPCs and sillyness.
Valhalla is more “adult” oriented and serious. And they really fine tuned exploration, so you need to search around for things.
Also, you don’t just tag all the enemies and then see through walls the whole time. And the loot is more meaningful, no borderlands style lootershooter with a new weapon every 3 minutes.
Also, the landscapes and general feel of the game are much much better.dborosev
ParticipantNo crashes for me. Though I have to say I’ve been a bit disappointed so far in the game itself. Its like they polished the living crap out of half of the game, and then just added the bare-bones stubbed-out missions to the other half.
Reminds me of someone writing a lot of text on a small card, and they get near the bottom of the card with no room left for the other half of what they wanted to write. So they just cram it in there.
Maybe by patch 1.10 it’ll be more complete.dborosev
ParticipantYeah driving does seem to tank my performance as well on this game. Something (cpu?) can’t keep up with it. Hopefully the 1.5 patch will address this.
The annoying part for me is that knowing there are so many bugs in the game, I’m starting to question everything.
For instance, I was on the “find the cabs” mission, and the first one I found, I was supposed to damage it, so I shoot the car a bit, and all of a sudden these level 50 gang members decide I’m trying to fight them, and obliterate me with one shot.
Is that a part of the game, or just some random bug? Who knows. Rinse repeat.dborosev
ParticipantFor those waiting for a good VorpX profile, I’ve found a temporary way to play in the meantime using Virtual Desktop and SuperDepth3D.
It works quite well, but has crashes when you go into the map/quests quite often. I work around this by disabling the 3D before going into the menus.
Its not perfect, but it does work and give good 3D for now.dborosev
ParticipantThis might be dumb as hell, but for VorpX games the ritual I’ve gotten into with Oculus (I’ve had Vive and Odyssey before this) is to just open Oculus, then vorpX, then run the game. I don’t directly do anything with SteamVR.
Always seems to work. Take it for the superstition it is.dborosev
ParticipantWhen I said performance, I was referring to being able to tolerate lower FPS on those modes, where in full VR, you need to have higher FPS to not puke.
dborosev
ParticipantYour profile database should update automatically, I don’t think you need to do anything, you are always using the current profile.
Yeah, I prefer cinema/immersive modes too for the same reasons. Plus performance.dborosev
ParticipantNo FPS increase for me either. I seem to be capped at 40fps.
dborosev
ParticipantGood find @ monazou
I’ll try it out too, and curious what others have to say.dborosev
Participant@johndoe,
Ralf will likely say to start: Try re-installing VorpX, and resetting the profile to default.
Since VorpX is likely increasing the workload on your system, it could be that your card just kaks out the higher the settings and the harder it has to run.
You could try as an experiment, running the game without VorpX, but on the highest possible settings and resolution, and see if it causes an issue that way.
Just a suggestion.dborosev
ParticipantFor almost all open world type games with large expansive maps, Z3D is perfect. You can barely tell the difference unless you hyper scrutinize up close objects.
And the performance boost is well worth it.
If a game were all close quarters, up close then g3d might be worth it, but for a game like this, especially as demanding, Z3D fits the bill. -
