RalfKeymasterGames aren’t supposed to show on anything on a monitor, so that’s actually a good sign as it means vorpX was able to hook into them. They should however show in the headset.
Sometimes games can loose focus due to Oculus Home. That would result pretty much in what you describe. Black screen + audio and “Please wait” in the headset.
This should be esily solvabele by using ALT TAB to bring the game back into focus. Also running games windowed can help to avoid this in the first place.
RalfKeymasterI think Aliens: Colonial Marines is quite nice in VR if you want something less scary. Very different, not really scary and actually pretty much a run-of-the-mill-shooter, but it captures the atmosphere of the second Alien movie quite nicely.
I didn’t play til the end, but had a few hours of fun with it. Still one of my standard test cases for vorpX. Alien fans should definitely give it a chance.
RalfKeymasterThanks for the heads up. Vive is supported now. System requirements will be adjusted shortly.
One caveat regarding ESO: a recent ESO update that removed D3D9 also removed vorpX’s Geometry 3D support for the game. With the current version vorpX can hook it again with the D3D11 renderer, so it’s working to degreee again, but there wasn’t time to check stereo 3d viability yet.
RalfKeymasterYou can use EdgePeek (press the mouse wheel) to look at HUD elements and other things that aren’t in your field of view otherwise.
RalfKeymasterThat sounds great. I will try that and add an “Adjust FOV” button similar to Skyrim to the vorpX menu if it works reliably.

RalfKeymasterThat is intentional. If you are 100% sure that a game can maintain 90fps rock solid on your PC, you can disable FluidSync on the display page of the ingame menu. Otherwise leave everything as it is or you will get heavy judder.
RalfKeymasterNo, vorpX overrides any VSync settings and does its own normally. Only when you actively choose to display the game image on the monitor (which isn’t recommended) normal Vsync plays a role.
RalfKeymasterWhen you close vorpX from it’s tray icon, it doesn’t do anything anymore. It’s just a normal program and not active until you launch it.
RalfKeymasterFor full VR choose a 5:4 or 4:3 resolution. 1280×1024 looks pretty nice usually while still being fast. If your PC can handle it for a game at 45fps minimum, choose 1600×1200. The higher the better, but you need to make sure that 45fps are maintained on Vive. The Rift is more forgiving in this regard.
For Virtual Cinema Mode personally I would use a 16:10 res if possible (e.g. 1600×1024), definitely some wide screen res.
RalfKeymasterYou can use any resolution you want. The higher, the better the image quality. 5:4/4:3 resolutions like 1280×1024 or 1600×1200 are usually the best choice. They don’t have to be added mnually to your graphics driver and also have some advantages regarding async timewarp.
Just keep an eye on performance while experimenting. Maintaining 45fps is important on the Vive. The optimal resolution in the end depends on the game and how fast your PC is, just like with normal gaming on a monitor.
RalfKeymastervorpX automatically syncs to your headset in the appropriate way. Anything you might have read regarding 60hz is probably from Oculus DK1 days a long time ago. You don’t have to care about refresh rate.
RalfKeymasterI don’t see any mail regarding a purchase issue for some reason. Please try the contact form in the support menu above.
RalfKeymasterPlease try to launch a few games and then create a troublshoot data archive on the trouble shoot page of the vorpX config app. Send that to support |at| vorpx com. No promises, but I will check whether you maybe overlooked something.
The desktop viewer working but nothing else sounds very much like an injection conflict.
Please try to reboot your PC and SteamVR if you didn’t do that already.
RalfKeymasterSometimes MyCommerce seems to reject payment data for no apparent reason. Please contact support |at| vorpx com for a solution.
RalfKeymasterThe FOV has to applied to the game’s .ini. That can be done automatically by using the Game Optimizer in the vorpX config app.
