This thread is almost a year old, hence the sticky you mention doesn’t exist anymore. It only referred to the display orientation setting and is now included in the DK2 Setup Guide in the vorpX help.

If you don’t get 3D in GTA V after starting the game, please ALT TAB to the desktop and back, which should resolve the glitch. Be aware that the game is Z-Buffer 3D only, which generally means “less 3D” for forground objects, but twice the framerate.

Portal 2 has Geometry 3D and Z-Buffer 3D, for the best Stereo 3D effect make sure that Geometry 3D is enabled (should be per default).

If you want “more 3D”, you can raise the “3D-Strength/Separation” parameter on the main page of the ingame menu. The default of 1.0 is close to what you get in reality though. So, more is not better in this regard.

You have two options to use vorpX:

    A. The convenient one (works with most games)

    1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
    2. Use the Rift DK2 as SECONDARY monitor in Windows
    3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
(might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
    4. Set vorpX to “Show on DK2″ display wise in the vorpX config app.

    B. The compatible one

    1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
    2. Use the Rift DK2 as PRIMARY monitor in Windows
    3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
(might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
    4. Set vorpX to “Use system settings” display wise in the vorpX config app.

You need to use extended mode, direct mode does not work currently.

Technically this is totally different from what vorpX does, so it’s not really comparable. The effect you get from the vorpX Virtual Cinema Mode is best comparable to sitting directly in front of a 3m (10ft) wide 3D cinema screen.

These aren’t real files, they just exist in memory, so there is nothing I can send you. The error is still strange and probably prevents vorpX from working correctly. I would suggest to try running vorpX as administrator (or not as administrator if you do so currently).

vorpX does nothing unless it is running. Exiting it disables it completely. To make sure it is not running, check your task manager for vorpControl.exe and vorpControl64.dat.

I can just guess that after using vorpX you may have to switch your Rift back to direct mode for Project Cars to work. The latest Project Cars version may also require the 0.6 Oculus runtime. Not sure about that though.

Nothing I recommend except from the above as the issue is not reprocucible here. So all I have is a rather general hint unfortunately: maybe you have something running on your PC that also hooks into games and interferes with vorpX. Might be a graphics driver add-on, chat software or anything else that can display something over a game window. Disabling the Uplay in-game overlay may also be worth a try.

vorpX does not work in direct mode yet. You need to set your Rift to extended mode like described in the DK2 Setup Guide in the vorpX help. Short version below:

In case you didn’t do that already please go offline in Uplay like mentioned in the startup message. The game exits after connecting to the Uplay server otherwise. Probably some anti-cheat check that conflicts with vorpX.

0.6 should work in most cases, but if it doesn’t for you, you can download 0.5 from Oculus.

Your monitor configuration leads to this. Please follow the steps in the DK2 Setup Guide in the vorpX help, it explains everything in detail.

    Short version:

You can configure vorpX in two ways:

    A. DK2 is secondary monitor -> select “Show on Rift DK2″ in vorpX config app
    B. DK2 is primary monitor-> select “Use system settings” in vorpX config app

No idea what might cause this for you, but you can try to rebind the according shortcut in the vorpX config app, maybe that helps.
