RalfKeymasterThat’s odd, there should definitely be two entries in the dropdown in extended mode. Just a wild guess: I had an issue once where the Rift wasn’t detected properly by Windows after switching between direct and extended a few times. This was resolvable by a reboot.
RalfKeymasterThe current vorpX (0.81) should work fine with the runtime 0.6.0.1 on most machines.
Although I’m aware that on some configurations it doesn’t for some reason. The official release date for the next vorpX version is still “when it’s done”, but it’s not too far away. Definitely before the end of Q3.
RalfKeymasterWorks fine here when the Rift is selected as monitor directly in the Fallout 3 options.
Maybe that is your issue. It’s the first listbox from above (“graphics adapter”). Both entries are named the same, but one of them is your primary, the other one the secondary monitor.
Please also make sure to set the resolution to 1920×1080 fullscreen.
RalfKeymasterSounds like maybe you accidentally may have activated the Virtual Cinema mode? If that is not your issue, please make sure to set the FOV to 120° (can be done with the vorpX Game Optimizer normally. If that fails for some reason, google for “Arma 3 FOV”, which will yield several results linking to FOV calculators and tutorials.
Please also note that Arma III is currently Z-Buffer 3D only, which means the Stereo 3D effect looks flatter on nearby objects. The advantage is that it’s twice as fast than G3D.
Also worth checking out is the below in-depth tutorial:
RalfKeymasterDo you by any chance have Steam running with admin rights? If that is the case, you would also have to run vorpX with admin rights. Or Steam without admin rights, which is recommended anyway as running vorpX as admin should be avoided.
Regarding the Outlook crash: you can add programs to the exclude list in the vorpX config app.
RalfKeymasterNormally the game should hook just like others. If it doesn’t in your case, please try/check the things below.
- Try to disable your virus scanner to make sure it does not interfere
- Check for other possibly interfering programs. The trouble shooting guide in the vorpX help has a few hints in this regard.
- Try to create a vorpX desktop shortcut to the Arma3 main .exe (right click the vorpX tray icon, choose “Create Desktop Shortcut”). This does not work with all games (especially Steam/Origin/Uplay games), but if it does, it hooks more reliable than the auto detection.
- Try running vorpX as administrator. Generally this is not recommended, but may help in some cases (for example it’s necessary if the game also is started with admin rights).
BTW: For serious Arma 3 playing, I can highly recommend the below in depth setup tutorial. Doesn’t solve your issue, but helps to create the best possible experience once you got it basically running. Quite a bit of work, but pays off.
RalfKeymasterJust a guess, but this sounds like the display orientation of the Rift may not be set correctly. In Win 8 you may have to set it to “Landscape flipped” instead of “Portrait”. You know what is right when the DK2 icon in the Windows monitor configuration dialog looks like a normal wide screen monitor.
RalfKeymasterAlthough this shouldn’t be necessary normally, on some systems you may have to set the Rift as primary display for the best possible performance and correct vsync. For details how to do this check the DK2 Setup Guide in the vorpX help.
You can also try to force v-sync on/off through your display driver control panel.
And last but not least please check the framerate with the built in FPS overlay in vorpX ([ALT][F]). Only if this shows stable 75fps while vorpX is active, you really have 75fps.
BTW: laptops are generally not recommended by Oculus and can cause various issues due to automatic switching between integrated and dedicated graphics.
RalfKeymasterMail should have been sent now. Not sure what went wrong last time. If you didn’t receive it this time, please check your spam folder. Just in case.
RalfKeymasterVive support is planned and will almost certainly be possible. I just can’t promise it 100% before having one.
RalfKeymasterPlease allow us some time to answer support requests, especially on a Sunday.
If you don’t receive a new link within 48hrs, please post again here. Thanks for your patience.
RalfKeymasterPlease send a mail to support |at| vorpx com and this will be sorted out.
RalfKeymasterIf you can’t make the normal setup work for some reason (it should with this game though), please double and triple check whether you really followed all steps of the “compatible” setup outlined above.
Please also make sure that the game is set to true fullscreen mode, not borderless window.
DirectX per default opens fullscreen games on the primary monitor unless this is specified otherwise in the game options (some games allow that). If the Rift is the primary monitor, there is no reason why it wouldn’t open on the Rift.
RalfKeymasterSounds like there is a general problem on your machine. Please make sure to check the things below:
- Make sure to follow the steps in the DK2 Setup Guide in the vorpX help. It explains two possible configurations. vorpX does not work in “Direct To HMD” mode currently.
- Double check whether games run fine without vorpX and set all games to 1920×1080 for the DK2 before running them with vorpX enabled.
- If you have the Oculus runtime 0.6 installed, try rolling back to 0.5. 0.6 seems to make problems for some.
- Check whether maybe you have something installed on your PC that may interfere with vorpX. Many programs also hook into games and can cause conflicts. The trouble shooting guide in the help has a few hints in this regard.
RalfKeymaster@ gustavor38: This is your final warning. If you continue to troll here, you will get banned without further notice.
@ karlor: I really appreciate what you are trying, but please don’t feed the troll. Answering insults with insults just makes things worse and is probably exactly what he wants.
