Topic: Outer Worlds, head rotation multiplier >1.0?

Thank you for the support of Outer Worlds, it’s great!
I do enjoy the game in immersive screen mode and z3d on my Valve Index HMD.
One thing nags me: even if i set the head rotation multiplier to 1.0, the head rotation is still not 1:1 but more like 1:.5 or less. Is there a way to edit the official outer worlds profile (that’s the one i use) to set a higher head rotation multiplier? Btw, i do not use direct VR, the scanning needed after every level loading is annoying…Thank you for your magical piece of software,

SmoilsParticipantWell to make screenshots I had to launch in “generic 3d monitor” mode, maybe something broke with that, but in game on index I have been switching g3d on and off to make sure it was actually working.
Havent checked other screenshots Ive posted here, maybe all of them are uselessly flat since that is the only way I can take screens without headset lens cutouts.

SmoilsParticipantExanima runs 144 fps on 144hz index in vorpx if I hook to the game, but then I cant have stereo. Since my monitor is old LG tv that can only go 60hz vorpx is the only way I can play on 120-144 hz and its nice when it works, but with stereo its better.

ForeverseekingParticipantI have had VR headsets since 2016 and discovered Vorpx around the same time, was always temped but put off by all the bad reviews on the internet and especially Reddit. I wanted it mostly to be able to play “Nvidia 3D” games on the headset.
Nvidia dropped 3D support, my 3D monitor was junk but still the negative reviews turned me off Vorpx, even with the Valve Index’s improved resolution over the Vive.However this all changed after purchasing the Quest 2. After seeing the miracle nature of Virtual Desktop working nearly flawlessly on a Wireless >>> Wireless set up (worst setup possible) I felt it was time to take the risk to be able to play all my “pancake” games, in any room of my house on a 3D TV in VR (if not in VR mode if it worked).
So tonight I bought Vorpx. Other than the DRM, which i personally detest, the set up was quick and the key was sent within minutes of purchasing and emailing Vorpx.
Quick painless install, and I was playing 3D games on a massive monitor within seconds… and other than shadows everything looks fantastic!
So I am definitely going to get my monies worth out of this incredibly clever app. The critical reviews seem unfair, or based on an older build. I would like to take a few more weeks getting to know your software better, and trying out a variety of games, but I will be sure to spread the positive experience in the usual VR sub reddits.
For anyone on the fence, for 3D gaming on a virtual monitor in VR… it works :-)

RalfKeymasterI don’t have any experience myself, but there was a thread in the ‘General’ forum not too long ago where at least one user reported it works. Personally I would be sceptical in regard to latency (lag), but apparently that’s not too much of an issue with a good connection.
Edit: just saw that you specifically asked about Index. I’m not sure which headset the user I mentioned above used. Very much possible that it was Quest + VD. Sorry for the confusion.
vorpX alone on the Shadow PC would not work, there would definitely have to be some additional streaming app like VD. Not sure whether it also supports streaming from PC to PC. Probably best to ask the VD dev about that.

So, I installed vorpX, and turned off Origin’s in game features, but it won’t hook, or even try to. Tested Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 and they hooked no issue. Uninstalled inquisition, deleted leftover files, and then had a fresh install of the game, and get the same results- the game launches fine but VorpX Ignores it. Tried windowed mode and full screen and neither work. It is listed as a vorpX supported game so I am looking for advice as to how to get it to work (the FAQs and beginners guides did not really help here)
Additionally, the vorpX desktop viewer doesn’t hook either, which is really weird. What can I check to get that feature to work?
Using a Valve Index as a headset with index controllers.

ZanderParticipantThanks for the help, I’m play on a index and here’s what I found out. I think the game starts to fast for Vorpx to hook. so if I start the game and wait for the options screen then ctrl+esc. right click the game on the task bar and run a second game it hooks=) then close the first game. not sure why that work but it does.

daggeyParticipantActually scratch the above – immersive screen at 2560 x 1440 with the screen distance -0.30, screen scale max and screen curvature 1.75 with screen vertical curve on is working much better. In game camera setting set to wide camera and in game zoom settings all the way out – that’s on an Index at 80Hz – seem to be getting about 40 frames in game so lots of reprojection etc. Far from perfect but fun.

I do enjoy the game in immersive screen mode and z3d on my Valve Index HMD.
One thing nags me: even if i set the head rotation multiplier to 1.0, the head rotation is still not 1:1 but more like 1:.5 or less. Is there a way to edit the official outer worlds profile (that’s the one i use) to set a higher head rotation multiplier? Btw, i do not use direct VR, the scanning needed after every level loading is annoying…Thank you for your magical piece of software,
WernerI have had VR headsets since 2016 and discovered Vorpx around the same time, was always temped but put off by all the bad reviews on the internet and especially Reddit. I wanted it mostly to be able to play “Nvidia 3D” games on the headset.
Nvidia dropped 3D support, my 3D monitor was junk but still the negative reviews turned me off Vorpx, even with the Valve Index’s improved resolution over the Vive.However this all changed after purchasing the Quest 2. After seeing the miracle nature of Virtual Desktop working nearly flawlessly on a Wireless >>> Wireless set up (worst setup possible) I felt it was time to take the risk to be able to play all my “pancake” games, in any room of my house on a 3D TV in VR (if not in VR mode if it worked).
So tonight I bought Vorpx. Other than the DRM, which i personally detest, the set up was quick and the key was sent within minutes of purchasing and emailing Vorpx.
Quick painless install, and I was playing 3D games on a massive monitor within seconds… and other than shadows everything looks fantastic!
So I am definitely going to get my monies worth out of this incredibly clever app. The critical reviews seem unfair, or based on an older build. I would like to take a few more weeks getting to know your software better, and trying out a variety of games, but I will be sure to spread the positive experience in the usual VR sub reddits.

Has anybody tried Vorpx on a Shadow PC ? Shadow supports officially Oculus Quest via Virtual Desktop, but no other HMDs.

This is all i got from Vorpx when i start Steam Vr, Vorpx dosen´t hook any game. I have uninstalled or deactivated, firewall, antivirus, fpsVr,
i have a 3700x, 2070 super, windows 10 (1903), Pimax 5k with Index controllers and base stations.

So, I installed vorpX, and turned off Origin’s in game features, but it won’t hook, or even try to. Tested Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 and they hooked no issue. Uninstalled inquisition, deleted leftover files, and then had a fresh install of the game, and get the same results- the game launches fine but VorpX Ignores it. Tried windowed mode and full screen and neither work. It is listed as a vorpX supported game so I am looking for advice as to how to get it to work (the FAQs and beginners guides did not really help here)
Additionally, the vorpX desktop viewer doesn’t hook either, which is really weird. What can I check to get that feature to work?
Using a Valve Index as a headset with index controllers.
