Darn, I was afraid the rumors were true about no dx11.

And here I thought we’d catch a break when Rage 2 moved to Avalanche’s engine. Sorry matteo.

Well, chalk this one to the list then. With the Rages and the Wolfensteins and the Dooms stacking up, an updated 3D OpenGL would start looking pretty good on vorpX’s belt 😁 … One day.

Time to play Metro Exodus again I guess. Looking forward to the profile.

Does anyone own Blood: Fresh Supply and let me know if they got it working with VorpX?

It supports both OpenGL 3.2 and Direct X 11. I am hoping it could at least work in Z3D which is totally fine for this type of game.

I really love the way old school 90s era FPS games that use flat sprites for enemies look in VR, so I know what I am getting into. I loved playing Quell 4D and GzDoom in VR on my Vive. Since there is no official VR mod for Blood: Fresh Supply, does anyone know if it’s possible to get Blood: Fresh Supply working in Z3D on an immersive screen in VorpX?

No opengl?? yea, thats sad.. Just thought it used the Doom 2016 engine? Coz I can live with 2D in Wolfenstein 2 :)

    Hi there!!

Is it just me or Vorpx on Doom (2016) just stay with trying to hook and it never happens?

I tried with both Vulkan and OpenGL but it just doesn’t work at all :(

The thing is that I played many times before with VorpX and it was working.
Even at some version I remember that I got G3D working and looked amazing…

    Help anyone?

This doesn’t look like it is running in actual 3D. I mean, the levels might be 3D, but the enemies look like 2D sprites. If you’ve ever played the original Doom in VR you’ll know that 2D enemies don’t translate that well into 3D. They just look like paper cut outs.

i’ve seen many custom profiles into the vorpx cloud: there is a profile with 4000 downloads, and a profile that offers g3d (via a profile based on amnesia a machine for pigs that is a opengl game)…

    is it playable?

vorpX does not support newer (shader based) OpenGL versions in stereoscopic 3D. With a few exception OpenGL games newer than Doom 3/Quake 4 are 2D only.

There is no way to create a Geometry 3D profile for Rage unless vorpX gets G3D support for newer OpenGL versions, which is unlikely since just a handful of games would benefit from that.

For anyone interested, I wrote a setup guide on The Dark Mod forums for getting the game running with Vorpx: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/17501-oculus-rift-the-dark-mod-vorpx/

If you’re not aware, TDM is an extension of the Thief modding community. Specifically, it’s a Doom 3 total conversion mod that has gone standalone and is completely free. It’s a 1st person stealth game heavily inspired by Looking Glass Studios original Thief games. The game consists of fan-made missions, of which I believe there are over 100.

This is awesome! Your thread should have gotten more of a response! This is the closest we will come to playing the original Thief in VR and I can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the link!

Aliens Colonial Marines (just make sure you use this mod: https://www.moddb.com/mods/templargfxs-acm-overhaul)

    Doom 3 or DOOM

    Any of the Borderlands games

    Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide

Oh, definitely the Metro Games! (2033 or Last Light)

    Wolfenstein – The New Order

Those are the ones I can think of. Game on! Lol. =D

there are many custom profiles but no official profile for 2016 doom, why?

is it possible to play 3D geometry using custom profiles?

Would be cool to get updated OpenGL support for games like Rage. I want it for the new Doom and Wolfensteins myself. Soma could be cool too. IIRC Ralf mentioned he’d like to look more into OpenGL one day, though it would take a lot of work.

It looks like Rage 2 will run in Apex (Just Cause’s engine) so there’s a good chance we’ll see vorpX functionality with that.

Not sure when CoD:WaW will get a profile, but for now there is a way to play SP with the Black Ops profile. Takes a few in game console commands to set up, but if it interests you I can upload my profile with instructions over the weekend.

i use 12 button mouse, ch throttle mapped and storyline mod.

since the fov mod is known the gameplay is absolut perfect with vorpx. Still unbelievable (not only looking great like before :))

Only difficult inis and pvp with ts i switch (in the moment) back to monitor.

I miss a mod to save all the grafic tweaks i do in wow everey time for this switch (resolution 1400/900, alsing off …, grafic down with gtx 960).

Anyway, if Ralf keeps the next updates wow supported i will play vorpx-wow for the next years (Its more than enough content for my taste).

The high quality Ralf reached with g3d vorpx causes that i stopped playing the most of my expensive vr games. For me, aaa games with Vorpx are much better then all aaa vr content in moment, like orbus vr or moss vr, or shooter like Vorpx doom 2016 compaired with doom vfr or arizona sunshine…

The thing i love to doing at most in the moment is to look every day if there is a 2 or 3 years old blockbuster to buy it for under 10 € or get it for free (like Assasin black flag) and play it in g3d with vorpx. Gaming cant be better and cheaper in this times thank you Ralf:)).

its a new 12″ high end laptop monitor with a custom board, its very popular alternative solution to the bulky monitors with no matte and IPS finish which was my main reason for going down the custom route, this is the best monitor on the planet and will never give it up for anything.

    makezine.com/2011/09/06/33-board-turns-your-bare-lcd-into-working-monitor/

This link sums it up, but it looks much better these days, its for people that want 13″ IPS and Matte rolled into one, you wont get that with conventional monitors.

sadly VorpX does damage the monitor, the picture that is displayed flashes a lot when you run in 5:4, if you run the game for more than 5 minutes the picture on the desktop is runied for about 20 minutes, it needs to recouperate, i was only able to test quake 4 and return wolfenstion for 5 minutes to see what it was like but ultimataely couldn’t play it.

in my experience every official steamVR and fan moded VR game has run in a window, serious sam 3, arizona sunshine and doom 3, this may be due to this issue, but to a much less severe extent for every case of user, overall I dont’ think you want to force a monititor to run at a much higher resolution and/or different aspect ratio than its native resolution in general, seems that VorpX is the odd one out runing in fullscreen monitor.

maybe it can be looked into later, but I don’t think its a good idea to dismiss it too quickly, the standard seems to be to have it in a window not duplicated on monitor (then again i remeber seing robo recall on the monitor i think?)

for now I will try to run games in a window, to see what that’s like.
