Sometimes things appear on the extreme periphery of my vision. Usually this is menus of some sort. Anyway, what happens is I can’t tell what I’m clicking. I know you can click the middle mouse button to edge peak, but I’d like a way to adjust this a bit better.

This is most apparent in a game like Fallout 76. I can’t see like half the pipboy when I bring it up. You tend to use pipboy quite often in that game, so I’m looking for what settings I need to change to be able to see it better. It really isn’t optimal to use the edge peak button every time I open the pipboy.

I bought VorpX to use with Fallout 76, I’ve had 3 diffarent results, 1st result was great, could read everything, move quite smoothly ect, nothing bad to say but I had the chatmod installed and it caused a conflict with the enter key so I removed that mod, also, as I was testing things, I tried a 2nd profile for Fallout 76, this wasn’t so great even though I’m no longer using the chat mod, so I reverted back to the 1st profile I tried.

everything was better again… except now a 5th of the pipboy doesn’t show on screen and the text… normal loot text looked like it was too small and unable to render properly, used the edge peak and it all became readable, so at this point, I took of the head set (oculus Rift S btw) and looked at my monitor… Fallout 76 was only half my screen rez and looked horrid, I reset the screen res but got distracted by my team mates and ended up playing back at my normal 1920×1080 rez but to FOV was still set to the VR (not really a issue once I got used to it lol) and then it was too late to hook in the VorpX to retest but I did notice that my pipboy and text was again all on screen and also readable when I was playing with out the VR hooked in, I’ll test later with VorpX hooked in but I’m hoping this will help figure out why your game looked the way it did :) I will also update this with my findings later

Because Microsoft is Microsoft, they’ve made the file system handling for their Microsoft Store/Xbox for PC games extremely locked down and cryptic. Local administrators don’t even have permission to READ the files and if you take ownership, the games stop working. Because of this, I had little hope of VorpX working, but decided to try anyway.

Lo and behold, it works… sometimes. I decided to test games with official local profiles, but since you can’t add processes/files to the official profiles, I had to make a copy of each profile and add the process to the copy while the game was running. (Adding files doesn’t work because you, the owner of your computer, don’t have permission to access the files on it that are installed using the Microsoft Store.)

    FALLOUT 76
Works 100%. VorpX seems to detect it correctly and both Geometry 3D and Z3D work. Process name is “Project76_GamePass.exe”.

ORI AND THE BLIND FOREST – DEF EDIT
Doesn’t work. I’ve tried the alternative hooking method and running VorpX as admin. VorpX just doesn’t detect it. Process name is “Ori And The Blind Forest Definitive Edition.exe”, but it’s a suspiciously small exe file.

    DEEP ROCK GALACTIC
Semi-works. I’m using Paradise Decay’s profile and I’ve tested it on the Steam version, where it works pretty well. VorpX detects the Xbox Game Pass version and I’m able to play it on immersive screen, but 3D doesn’t work. Geometry is not available and Z3D is no different from 2D. Process name is “FSD-WinGDK-Shipping.exe”.

I’ll test a few more games. Any requests?

Thanks so much for posting this guide here! I see so much potential through vorpX from testing fallout 3 alone

    Hey everyone

Got my Reverb G2 a couple of days ago and couldn’t be happier with it.

I Decided to try VorpX yesterday since I’ve heard great things about it.

Looked forward to trying out Battlefront 2 with it since it was a supported title, but I just couldn’t get it to hook. Went back to the essential tips and looked at numerous support sections. But I just can’t get it to work. Everytime I try to start a game it just loads up on my main screen like there’s no headset.

I get no Vorpx logo or indication that it is actually interacting with the game.

    Titles I’ve tried so far:

    SW Battlefront 2
    Fallout 4
    Metro Exodus

Atleast one of these titles should work in my opinion.

I’ve tried disabling all overlays and uninstalled malwarebytes. I’ve done a reinstall of VorpX but nothing really changes.

Am i going in the wrong order?
    1. Plug in my reverb G2 power
    2. Put on headset.
    3. WMR loads with cliffhouse
    4. I start Vorpx from desktop
    5. I load the metro exodus profile from “local profiles”
    5. I start Steam VR
    6. I run the game which tells me it’s not natively supporting VR.
    7. The game loads up as a normal desktop game anyway.

    Some Specs
    Windows 10 with latest update
    Amd ryzen 7 3800x
Gigabyte RX 5700 XT with latest drivers
    32Gb Hyper X 3200mhz

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    /Jon

Someone just implemented AMD’s FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening for Fallout 4 VR, it looks excellent. Also works with Skyrim VR.

It replaces the openvr_api.dll. Theoretically it would work with any openvr game with a dll version for each.

Could something like this be implemented/useful in Vorpx, or am I confusing myself?

G3D might not work at the moment, but Z3D is looking fantastic (and I normally prefer G3D if available and my system can handle it) and performance is great.

How is everyone playing Cyberpunk? Right now I’m playing it sitting, but eventually I’d like to play it standing with a wireless controller or Vive wands like I did Fallout New Vegas.

    Hi,

    My Specs:
    Valve Index
    RTX 3080
    Ryzen 7 2700x
    16GB Ram

i play for Example Fallout 76 in G3D in 2880×2160 (Borderless Window) and Medium Settings except the Textures on highest, in average 30-40 FPS using Fluidsync to 80 FPS, but in the Cities it crashes to 15-25 FPS. I had the same experience in other open world games in 3K or 4K in typical CPU intensive Locations, too.

In high 3K and 4K Resolutions and average 40 FPS there should not be a Bottleneck of a CPU with my RTX 3080, CPU Bottlenecks are typically on 1080p and 1440p.

Is it a Vorpx or SteamVR Problem, and should I buy a 12 or 16 core CPU to get better Minimum Frames ? Or is the setup of my Resolution, Graphic Settings and Fluidsync causing a CPU Bottleneck while using Vorpx ?

I face a problem and I run out of options of what could be the issue of games not running in VorpX. Games that worked was Half-Life 2, Portal, Fallout 3, and Fallout Las Vegas. Checking on other people facing similar issues I read all previous options of what could I do about it and I did all these steps. Reinstall VorpX, disable and uninstall AV program, disable any overlays that could influence the VorpX to hook up to the game, check if there is any unnecessary DLL, checking if the game is running in DX11 not DX12, trying to change resolutions for games, uninstall games and install again, run games and VorpX as admin, use alternative hooking method. All the games I checked are compatible with VorpX and should work without hassle and they are bought and I own them. At this point, I really can’t find a solution to what the issue could be and what could make it work. If there are any smart guys out there, please help me to solve this issue because I am hanging on to this for weeks without any progress. I know VorpX working and its hooking on to games, but it dose not for most of the compatible games that should work.

I’m sorry, I’m brand new to this. I just got an Oculus Quest 2 on Friday, so this is all brand new.

Anyway, I’m using a USB 3.0 to USB-c cable in order to enable Oculus Rift or Link or whatever they call it. I have Fallout 76 on Steam. I have bought VorpX.

Can someone please tell me the steps I need to get up and running from everything shutdown (PC and VR device).

Again sorry, it’s all a little overwhelming at first.

    Hi!

I’m running games at 4k in “Geometry” mode (am I trying too hard to have the best possible experience?) and its laggy. Im forced to use Z-normal for these situations, which I believe is a tad less immersive – although passable and playable-enough for sure. I have an MSI GTX 1080 Ti.

I’ve been playing Fallout 4 (amazing in Vorpx!!!) at 4k and ya… when Geometry is turned on, its pretty laggy. If I picked up a GTX 3080 would I have better luck? I turned off the frame-rate cap in the game. Could also play a role……….

    Greetings,

Ever since I started using Vorpx 3 years ago I’ve had a relatively minor issue when using Vorpx headtracking. Honestly I just got used to it over time but I’d figure I’d give a shot at fixing it now that I am looking to refine my VR Experiences.

    Issue Description:

The issue is that whenever I turn 360 degrees with headtracking on, there appears to be 1 degree that causes a screen stutter. Just for a moment and it passes as soon as I rotate past that 1 out of 360 degrees. This stutter angle appears to stay consistent for either an entire session of Vorpx in a given game or potentially during a play “Area” (I.e resets after reloading save or going through loading screen.) Any time I rotate to that angle it stutters and the image shifts about 5 degrees for a split second and then re-aligns properly.

Headset: Oculus CV1 with 2 sensor 360 degree setup

    Details:

-This issue occurs with and without directvr rotation on.
-Occurs in every game I use VorpX headtracking with
-Doesn’t occur when I disable Vorpx Headtracking and use:
    1) my mouse to spin 360 degrees
    2) A python script to turn my Oculus into a mouse.

I don’t have any issues with native VR games such as Skyrim VR, Fallout VR, Superhot etc. If I use Virtual Desktop with my oculus to mouse headtracking script above I do not have this issue. Seems to be specifically related to Vorpx headtracking.

One additional tidbit is that when I use an AutoOculus Touch script that turns my oculus touch into a mouse, I run into a very similar issue at the exact same degree. I will gladly post the scripts I use for this and headtracking to mouse if that will help.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
    James

Ever since patch 23 – the bug fix patch, vorpx dialog windows and setting windows have just been grey boxes with no words in them, as well as fallout 76 itself has begun stuttering and become choppy.

Has this ever happened to any other games/ profiles since a patch? is there a fix?

let me know what sort of logs or info you would need to diagnose this problem.

Also let me know if i should just do a quick reinstall of vorpx or fallout.

Roughly a year ago I went through Fallout New Vegas in Vorpx, playing through all the DLC and trying to visit every possible location on the map. It ended up being about a 90 hour run and one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had in my 30+ years of gaming. VR makes it so much more immersive and fun.

If you decide to play it I recommend getting the ultimate edition when goes on sale for about $6. The DLC adds ALOT to the experience, Old World Blues and Lonesome Road are the must-plays of the four DLC imo.

If you play it as a fps it’s janky but if you play it as an RPG with tactical turn based combat (VATS) it’s still an amazing game with excellent writing – Soo many choices and places to explore.

    VorpX tips:
    – 4GB patch is a must (doubles the ram the game has to work with)
    – There is a stutter removal mod to make the walking a bit smoother
    – Use the VorpX internal options to render higher resolution than the game normally allows, Vorpx’s sharpening can help alot too.
    – VATS can be trippy in VorpX depending on what you’re targeting.. it can shake a bit if I remember right.

I’m kind’ve fighting off the urge to go through it again.. looking forward to checking it out in a newer HMD.
