Don’t get too excited. Even with the shader replacement system reeady (which took a bit of a backseat due to other stuff admittedly) fixing such glitches will require a considerable amount of work per game only doable by people with a high level of shader programming skill. How well this turns out in the end depends entirely on people’s willingness to dedicate time and effort for fixing shaders. Maybe you want to become one of them?

Apart from that tnstead of hoping to get these things fixed for every game out there better follow my advice above and don’t overdo it with the 3D-Strength, as tempting as pulling all sliders to the max might be. That’s really not how most settings in vorpX work. Just like you don’t tune a guitar by applying maximum tension to all strings.

DGVoodoo support must be understood as an experimental extra which can break at any time because the DGvoodoo dev changes his software all the time during development. The above profile requires DGVoodoo2 2.55.4.1. Any other version may not work. The profile has also been created with a slightly older VorpX version (somewhere around 19.x) and may also not work with the current version.

I would suggest following EXACTLY the instructions above to get the game running in 3D. You alternatively can try different versions of DGVoodoo2 and/or even try different DGVoodoo2 profiles from the cloud for this game. Most of them are configured differently so one may work with another vorpx or driver version and vice versa. (Type DGVoodoo into the cloud search).

The game has been tested with the original updated retail game. GOG, Steam ect. versions may not work at all.

The issue with starting SteamVR (or Oculus if I had one) is that you have to have your VR controller starting up, just to get to the Desktop. Then once you see the Desktop, it’s the full screen game, switching back to the keyboard again to minimize it (Alt+Tab).
For some games that won’t even work (maybe because I have WMR, and it is either controlling VR, or controlling the Desktop). So I have to often take of my headset to be able to minimize the game. Once it’s minimized, it usually works again (not sure why).
Even a button to be able to simulate the SteamVR button press and minimizing the game would be awesome.

Since FS19 has the stutter issues that are possibly related to gamepads and wheels I’ve been playing FS17 with G3D which works quite well. The one problem I have is that when I’m running windowed and letting DirectVR take care everything it doesn’t seem like the resolution settings have any effect inside VR, the desktop window does change resolution but ingame it still looks the same.

You can get it to work by just disabling the DirectVR config for resolution settings, going fullscreen (also need to minimize SteamVR before starting the game) and then you can set the resolution but I still end up with a FOV that seems to be distorted when looking at stuff up close such as my tractor cab for example. Tried fiddling with the settings but not sure if it’s avoidable at this point… Another issue I’ve noticed is the head tracking sensitivity setting has to be changed every time I start the game even if have saved it in the VorpX menu.

There are three methods of stretching the image in the Compatibility mode 3D(3D VISION)
    You can check it: Ctrl+F11.
I’ve always turned off the stretching. Then appears some cut of edges in the right and the left. But, it doesn’t mater.
As a result, you get absolutely correct construction of geometry in 3D.
I don’t want to seem rude, but your method of building fake 3D (Z3D) does not stand up to any comparison in quality with the methods used in 3D VISION and TriDef. It looks pretty useless at the moment.
There are many different settings available in VorpX. But most of them are far less important than the scale and 3D settings.
For all other characteristics, VorpX is the best software for running flat games in VR!
I just made a few important wishes to make VorpX even better.
Sorry if my words look a bit rudely. I had no purpose to offend you
Thank you for the excellent work! By the way! In the latest update, performance and stability are even better than before. It’s great!

    Hey everyone,

So ive been with Vorpx for awhile and with Lockdown 2020 going on… i assume a fair amount of us are largely indoors, looking for games to play (maybe getting bored of the games we got since we are this far into it.)

So – I thought, may not be a horrible idea to share what Vorpx experiences we had that we thought were exceptionally good (or just exceptionally unique and need to be experienced)

So, Im offering my top picks here and some of them require Mods.

First of all – Dark Souls 3 with First Person Mod.
    https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls3/mods/20/?

Now, to use this mod it does require you basically “not using” many of the games mechanics. You cant really use the Lock On ability because the first person camera mod basically makes Lock on go TOTALLY insane… So you pretty much are stuck playing the game as a quick 2 handed character. Now, this sounds awful, but once you get the flow of things (and things are indeed easier to dodge in first person – you see those swings coming) you will be massacring the Dark Souls 3 monsters with well timed rolls and a solid 2 handed weapon.

Now, I dont want anyone to feel like Im sending them to their deaths here, so there is a GREAT 2 handed weapon available at the start of the game, after you kill the first boss.

    https://youtu.be/dvUxVcNBfDk?t=78

Watch that video and he will lead you to the best two handed option early in game that you can level up and use all the way to the end of the game – im not lying, beat the game with zero lock on and just dodging and using that sword, leveling it up as i went. So unfortunately – Shield blocks and Spellcasting are kinda out of the window since Lock on doesnt work right… but its still an incredible experience to see the beautifucally horrific monsters in Dark Souls 3 up close and the ‘fun part’ is – your sword SWINGS where you are ‘looking’ – so there is some degree of motion controls because you will be slashing at one dude and turn your head to hit his buddy and your sword slash WILL follow your ‘face’… so you aim with your head.. its kinda glorious and fun if youre a Dark Souls Fan.

Anyways, Dark Souls 3 is totally playable like this (if youre a souls fan, i think most of us agree, Dark Souls 3 is far and away the easiest of the bunch, so this isnt impossible. Now this does use CheatEngine so you want to be playing offline for this mod)

Next up, Sekiro with a first person mod.

This one I have NOT finished the game yet – but – it seems to work much better than the Dark Souls 3 mod, it doesnt make the camera go wonky on lock ons so you can lock onto your enemies and “stand your ground” as you normally would in Sekiro (and parries seemed WAY easier in first person, seeing when their sword is about to hit you is alot easier when theyre right in your face)

    https://www.nexusmods.com/sekiro/mods/474

This one is much easier to get up and running, dont need to worry about getting a specific sword and everything. For extra fun – if you wanted to feel a bit more like Spider Man + Sekiro, you can increase the range of your grapple hook as well, this one is just for funsies, but fuck it,youre modding the game anyhow :P

    ________________________________________________________________________________

So thats the end of my Souls recommendations haha.

Onto some other fun ones. GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas and GTA 4 all have First person mods and work great in Vorpx. GTA5 has a few VR mods out there and i havent dug into it yet to know whats better or not, but you can get first person mods for Vice City and San Andreas and 4 and experience driving your car in first person, looking over your shoulder (they actually have an animation where when you look into your blind spot you see your characters shoulder leaning back like in real life to check a blind spot lol).. and being in VR listening to the absurd radio shows that pop up on there is just alot of fun.

Also just great out of the box experiences – All the Metro games. Even though it doesnt have full 3d I found a good profile for Evil Within 2 and that game features a good first person mode, it might be fun for survival horror fans to just put it up on immersive screen mode.. it was a ton of fun when I played it.

Just trying to give some recommendations to my fellow Vorpxers about games that are out there that are alot of fun.

Please feel free to add your personal favorites to this list so we can try to see if we might be able to help eachother pick out our next games

I just uploaded the profile for Cloudpunk, based on the Ori and the Will of the Wisps profile.
It looks fantastic with geometry 3D, even though there is no head tracking.

I managed to isolate the HUD but there are still problems if I move it around, it looks like some shaders are together. If I manage to fix it I will update the profile.

Can’t really say anything to to your proximity sensor issue, better ask that question on the Oculus forum.

You neither need an invasive third party AV program nor a third party firewall on Windows 10. It comes with both. If you uninstall your AV program, Windows Defender kicks in, same for the firewall.

Can’t really suggest anything more than above, sorry. Hooking issues almost always are related to a conflict with some other program on your PC that also hooks into games, so please double and triple check for any background apps you may have running.

Apart from that checking the ‘Alternative Hooking’ option in the config app might be worth a shot. Be aware though that some games require the normal method, so even if it helps, don’t forget to switch back.

Mass Effect 1 is the game I’ve been trying to get this working with and now that I’ve modded it for proper controller support it’s broken mouse movement in anything but the menus so any solution that uses mouse movement for head tracking will no longer work. Even when it was working, the camera is far enough away from the character that low sensitivities still feel weird and also conflict with menus where I only want to use my Xbox controller.

I didn’t think about this being exclusive to any one mode (FullVR, Immersive Screen, Cinema). I originally wanted it as the final setting to allow for a “looking through a window” effect in Cinema mode. What I mean is you lead to the left and right, the view leans with you but the screen does not. I’ve almost got there with turning on Positional Tracking as this kinda works for forwards/backward and leaning left/right. Rolling your head by default works as well, it’s just turning your head that can’t be translated into the game without it going through the games camera constraints. Getting this working 100% would probably require an offset for the camera and maybe dynamic adjustment of FOV based on distance to the screen but I understand that would be a lot of work. (Although I’d argue worth it for 100% correct 3D viewing on a virtual screen no matter head position).

Would it be possible to add an option to force these movements as well, the same way positional head movements and head roll are forced without the game’s knowledge?

I’m not even sure whether I fully understand the problem. From what I get it sounds a bit as if you might have head tracking disabled?

Might be worth a shot to do a full factory reset.

Apart from that: what Minabe said. Knowing what headset you use etc. would help tremendously to understand your issue. If for example you use vorpX to drive phone based VR, there would be no head tracking without another tool to handle that.

First and foremost: use purchased games. Who knows how your cracks work and what they do. Some may for example use different .exe names than the legit game or call some other .exe that vorpX is unaware of. Both cases would prevent vorpX from working correctly since it would not be able to recognize a game. And there are almost certainly more potential issues a crack could cause that I’m unaware of.

    That said:

Please try a full factory reset in the config app. There is no cloud profile required for Fallout 4.

Apart from that in case of hooking issues most likely there is a conflict with some other program. In the vast majority of cases that is the problem. You can find more detailed information on the matter in the trouble shooting post on top of this sub forum.

Also checking the ‘Alternative Hooking’ option in the config app is worth a shot. Caveat: even if it helps with a particular game, don’t forget to switch back. It’s not better per se, and some games definitely require the defauzlt method.

That’s a good post and clarification. Thanks!

    I understand completely.

In terms of Resident Evil 3 specifically, is there anything to watch out for or tinker with to get the profile running as you intended? I’m sure the specifics are in the actual profile’s description, so apologies if I’m asking for extraneous or existing information. I’m not on my VR rig to check the in-app vorpX cloud list until later but beyond curious about the game’s general performance and what visual tradeoffs if any might be for me in Z3D/G3D.

I’d be happy to just play the whole game in Z3D in Immersive Screen or Cinema mode, I think. Especially if it means I can keep the main art assets and effects on a high setting and keep reliable performance. Should be fine, right?

As an aside: If I could, I think I would happily play every game in Z3D. I’m genuinely struggling to play games in pancake at the moment. It’s a pretty damn excellent problem to have! VR is just so goddamn good. Even generic 3D depth is delicious. VR has genuinely changed everything for me!

I’ve not had much luck getting basic Z3D running on any games without profiles yet, e.g. Yakuza Kiwami (I copied the Yakuza 0 profile but no success) – but it’s something I’d like to eventually master.

    Cheers!

Thank you very much for that further Information.

I get that you are the dev of vorpx.
Let me first thank and congratulate you.
    Your work is awesome!
The whole hook and injection with menus etc. is simply put genius masterwork.

There are some cloud below zero profiles that move / modify the hud – so it should be possible to do.
Even some Subnautica 1 profiles work for below zero to modify the hud correctly.

The only chance of moving/scaling/modifying the hud is manipulating the shaders right?
Did I miss something? (maybe some magic menu options to do it?)

Regarding the work in progress state for shader authoring:
Please dont feel you need to be defensive because of me.
Ill just try it for fun and interest. I´d never cry around because I think something deep and advanced as this should work out of the box and perfectly.

Started playing it yesterday, mostly fiddling with stuff. My first impressions are pretty good, while it felt slow paced i think it’s bc i just went through the tutorials.

What i first noticed is that some things do react to you (like the cat at the lower floor next to your spawning point) but it’s pretty inconsistent as nothing else does in the rest of the chapter and throwing stuff at npcs, while it makes them react, just passes through them.

A big fail imo is to not have collision on your own body, even if there is no model it should still be there, it felt pretty unintuitive that you get stuck at a half way practically open door without pushing the last centimeter with your hands.

I’ve tried to get 7 games to even show up in VR so far. Only 3 actually work. I’ve tried all the FAQ stuff already, no error, nothing. These four games so far just start in standard pancake mode and VorpX does nothing at all, no error, nothing, doesn’t even look like VorpX tries to do anything, and i have profiles for all the games.

    Games that work:

    Half life 2
    Hexen 2
    Star wars Kotor

    Games that VorpX does nothing:

    World of Warcraft
    Warframe
    Risk of rain 2
    Planet coaster
