ParticipantFallout 4 launches normally with VorpX on, but it seems Vorp doesn’t even try to start it in VR anymore. Zero reaction inside the Oculus, both launching with watcher oon and trying the direct desktop shortcut method. I’m stuck.

ParticipantThanks for the quick reply Ralf. I had originally tried importing the old profile, and when that didn’t work I cloned the Unreal Engine 3 profile (which is what I did when i originally created the profile.) Still no luck. I even tried the Create Desktop Shortcut method in vorpx and still nothing. SteamVR does start when I start the game, but the game just opens on the desktop like normal and the view inside the headset is just the normal SteamVR idle area.
I did export troubleshooting data, and the only error I’m seeing in the rocket league sections is:
ERR: D3D9Helper: Effect creation failed: shaders/d3d11_direct.cfxIt’s not the end of the world, but I play so much better with the 3d geometry provided by Vorpx, and the game is so much more intense, so I hope this can be resolved.
An official profile would be awesome. I tried rigging the camera control to th headset rotation but it turned out awful. It definitely needs a direct camera hook somehow.
I know it’s the holiday season, so no huge rush, I’ll see if there’s any progress next year :P

ParticipantI’ve been running this on a 6800K with a GTX1070 and 32gb of ram. Started out getting about 45fps. Couldn’t figure out why.. Ended up disabling all the mirroring stuff and my FPS shot up to 90, with occasional dips down to 84. And that’s pretty much everywhere.. Outside solitude, windhelm, all the way up the stairs to high hrothgar, inside cities.. I’m running 2K texture packs, mods that add more citizens to cities, realistic water, and a bunch of other stuff. One thing that aggravates me though. In the normal view, everything looks like it’s magnified. I’m not sure how to shrink things down so people appear normal sized. I have to play in that mode where you can see the edges. Is there any way to fix that?

ParticipantThe best way to launch games is launching them directly from your desktop, through Steam/Uplay/Origin etc., not through any app launcher that runs on the headset.
If everything looks “ultra close”, you did not change the field of view (FOV). How that can be done varies from to game. You find a list of options in this regard in the Essential Hints Guide in the vorpX help, which I would strongly suggest to read. This guide explains three very important things that you need to do for each game once.
For Skyrim SE enhancing the FOV is done by typing “fov 120 20” into the game’s console. Check the !Usage.txt inside the ZIP file with the profile for full instructions and make sure to follow them completely, otherwise the profile will not work as intended.
On a sidenote: The original Skyrim in most cases works better with vorpX, so it probably makes sense to use that instead of the Special Edition.

ISSUE: (Wash, Rinse, Repeat)
1) Launched game via steam client
2) It comes up in my Vive headset,
3) I then tinker with delete options to fix the extreme closeness
4)While in main screen, console command ~ and type in “FOV 120 120″ can’t read words that appeared after I hit enter, unlegible – so I ignore it
5) I start up the game – it crashes.Prior to buying this software, I checked around first (I’m new to VR and PC gaming as of September 2016) I watched some youtube videos and forums. I honestly did not have any expectations, I knew this is a small indie dev. Enough respect there. However, I then researched some more in reddit and found this guy saying:

Sky Remasttered will work on VorpX. Ralf (VorpX creator) mentioned it a while back. It might be a short time for the official support till he gets it sorted but IIRC he said the F4 setting will probably cover it till then
Avyually using it is fairly straight forward. You launch Steam/Steam VR, Launch VorpX, Launch VorpX config, Select Skyrim Preset, save, then launch Skyrim.
The standardpreset will get you there and then it’s all tweaking to prefrence. Once you het a handle on how it all works out of the box…Use as much supersampling inside VorpX as your computer can handle and in skyrim’s ini file, set the highest resolution your computer/vive can handle.
You will QUICKLY find that you don’t have as much power as you wish you had. I have a Titan XP and a clocked 4790K and I am saving for Titan #2 because of it.
You will not regret the effort, or the money you throw at this.and he also said:
Fredthehound 7 points 5 months ago*
Open VorpX
Select the Skyrim ‘preset’
Launch SteamVR
Launch VorpX
Launch Skyrim
Open VorpX menu
Change Mouse accel to off
Set 3d sliders (both) to 30
Set zoom to 68-71
Learn to use ‘Edge Peek”
Play Skyrim.
Thats how hard VorpX is to make work great with Skyrim. All in this thread:
Is anyone working on a Skyrim for Vive mod?
byu/TheYang inViveThus, my intentions were pure “hey let me support this indie dev and buy the software if it’s really that easy or some “minor” tinkering. (No one really explains how frustrating or headache inducing this can be) I am not a deep techie, surface techie only.
Now that I have VorpX, I must honestly say, this is horrible – for me. Two days now and not working (I bought it just for Skyrim SE) I don’t own OG Skyrim and don’t intend on purchasing it.
I really don’t have time to sit here and go through the hurdles this thing is throwing at me. My time is limited as is to put that much effort into this. I’ll just wait for Fallout 4 VR next year, even if it turns out to be horrible.
I say all that to say this, I appreciate what this software can do for those that have the time to sit there all day and tinker. Kudos. For those like me, time is precious so off time we use it to enjoy, Stay Away. Respectfully, how do I go about getting a refund for this?

ParticipantPlease help,
This is getting quite infuriating. I followed the instructions:
launch Vorpx
go into general settings choose HTC Vive as hardware
downloaded this profile and ran Skyrim SE (i know profile is not part of instructions, but since I’m new, I have no idea about profiles and needed starting point)then launch the game
Vorpx is basically giving me the middle finger and saying thanks for buying.
So what am I doing wrong?
I launched SkyrimSE from within the Vive menu while wearing the headset – Is this the way I am supposed to launch the game? or am I supposed to launch it from within the steam client? (which I have and it doesn’t show up in my VR headset this way, I am still in my VR lobby, while I hear my game running on my PC.When the game does launch in my Vive it’s ultra close to whatever is in front of me, I am damn near inside the barrels wood grain (how the hell do I fix this, I tried fov within the delete menu *it’s not working*
Also, Vorpx is not tracking my head movement within the world of the game, When I move my head, the image that’s in front of me (moves along with me) therefore it’s like I’m always staring straight even when I’m moving my head.
Help please!

ParticipantHere are again all options you have in regard to dealing with FOV in GTA V compiled in a single list for your convenience. You can enhance the 3D effect by adjusting the “3D Strength/Separation” parameter in the vorpX ingame menu (main page).
- Use the vorpX Image Zoom in the ingame menu (image page). This is a non-perfect solution since it introduces top/bottom bars, on the other hand it’s very easy.
- Use Flawless Widescreen to adjust the FOV: http://www.flawlesswidescreen.org
- Try this FOV mod from a Reddit user (not sure whether that still works with the latest GTA V version.
- If you have an HTC Vive, try this mod that uses vorpX for 3D and does head tracking/FOV inside the mod. Might also work with Rift if you install SteamVR and set vorpX to “HTC Vive”.
Ralf,
I’ve tried increasing the image zoom but it didn’t change the 2D image.
Flawless widescreen and the FOV mod didn’t make any changes to my FOV.
The mod for the htc vive you mentiod is also playable without vorpx. It’s really buggy and I dont want to make use of this mod since you’ll need to move by using the teleport function.I just want to make use of the full vr vorpx gta which still isn’t working..
There must be something I’m doing wrong..In awaiting of your solution,

KeymasterThis mod is worth a look. It uses vorpX for 3D, but implements head tracking inside the mod. Installation is a bit complicated though, make sure to follow the instructions on the site.
Also make sure that your frame rate is as high as possible by reducing graphics detail. That is highly important for comfortable VR.
If you are very sensitive to motion sickness induced by first person locomotion I would suggest the semi immersive setup described in the original post of this thread with the cinema screen moved close to you. Not perfect VR, but since the cinema screen provides a fixed frame of reference, it can help a lot in regard to not getting sick.

ParticipantI have also been having this issue. Vorpx seems to be running on it’s own but Vorpconfig just closes with that error. I do not have any virus software installed, disabled Windows Defender and reinstalled Framework 3.5. Killed any possible task in the background. Nothing seems to work.
I would really like to run SkyrimSE prelim profiles but I can’t load them without the config. Not sure what else to try. Is there another way to install the profiles without the vorpconfig? All the vorpx settings seem to work in inside a game but without the SkyrimSE profile I’m not getting any 3D support and it looks bad. What else could I try to get the config to work? Also started as admin and that doesn’t work either. Seems so weird to me that vorpx works but the config does not.
I also sent email to vorpx support with no response. I bought it to use specifically with Fallout 4 and SkyrimSE. Fallout 4 at least had a profile installed so that’s working.

Participantso latest findings and good news Witcher3 is hooking and nexus modmanger is working, too.
I have to do the following procedure.
1.disable all dpi scaling .
2.inside vorpx diplay settings. only async rnederer ist enabled, if enabling fluid sync. the game wont hook
3. Start oculus home
4. start vorpx
4a.pause watcher
5. start witcher 3.exe
5a after you hit start on the games exe you need to resume the vorpx watcher.
game starts
Here is one more thing. If i played a different game and change the display settings in the display menue and than try to play witcher3 the game wont hook anymore.
To fix this i have to start a game that hooks with vorp. Enter the display settings in vorpx and the according values .Save and exit vorpx.
Then if i start witcher 3 it will hook again….
what a drag though!!!
hope tomorrwo the game will run and proveNov 16, 2016 at 11:08am #122854Topic: Oblivion

ParticipantHello,
Just bought yesterday vorpx, and try it on Skyrim (i have a fps problem (i have a good computer configuration) that i need to check, but can run it) and oblivion.
On oblivion, i have 2 problems i can’t resolve :
* My character is walking and running in slow motion. the NPC walk normally, but not my character. Don’t know what is wrong with it ?
* Second problem i have, but more related to console accessibility, is i would like to change the FOB by using ~ as mentionned in documentation.
But the console does not open (i am on a french keyboard and to bind the key ~, i have to do altGr on number 2 following by space, don’t know if the problem comes from here ?). So i open settings with delete key (ok i open it). i have an option FOV Alt – V, but i can’t modify it : when i click in the field and input for instance fov 120, or directly 120, nothing is wrote. I try alt v, but same, no field with something i can input Inside.if someone can help ?
By the way if someone has good optimisations settings for oblivion !
Thanks a lot !

ParticipantI can confirm the ‘same’ issue.
I built a new machine and skyrim (Original version) was running wonderfully under vorpx for a few days of play. The next day i have Head Tracking stutter and it won’t go away. No new drivers installed (although i can’t account for what Windows 10 does under the hood.) The other game i’ve played in Vorpx So far (GTAV) did not experience the issue. When the headtrack is disabled in skyrim itself but on inside the 3d lounge room it’s smooth as expected … It’s something to do with mouse input + skyrim + vorpx. I did install a 3d Vision mod but it’s been disabled – it’s the only mod I applied and was disabled before beginning vorpx play.As the OP mentioned the issue is gone at resolutions under 1024×768.
I’ve changed the bMouseAcceleration=0 in skyrimprefs.
Spec:
Mouse: logitech g600 (the issue remained after unplugging the mouse in-game)

ParticipantIf the cursor position doesn’t scale with the UI in a game, I would suggest to use EdgePeek mode for menus, inventory etc. In the last version EdgePeek was modified so that menus always work correctly in EdgePeek mode even if cursor position and scaled HUD/menu don’t fit otherwise.
I would actually suggest this almost always BTW since usually it’s more convenient to use menus while being able to look around the screen instead of having them at a fixed position in front of you.
I understand,although what I was trying to investigate,goes a little further,in my case.
explain:
Yesterday, when I used sugested resolution in this thread (for Skyrim),without me expecting anything else,I solved a “problem” in an extra way.It was a surprise. The improvement is about, that I can now activate legible subtitles in additional quest mods, created by the community, extra to the game content.
Some of these mod(in other countries),are translated into text in my country,by a small group of volunteers, but unlike Skyrim, translations of mod,do not have voices in my native language (logically),but at least allows to enjoy them, although for this specific case, need to activate subtitle for my.This causes me,to investigate today a “possible similar solution” for Oblivion.
Different to Skyrim,Oblivion was not doubled in voices in my country, only translated in texts in the year 2006.
This forces me,to make a much, much more intensive use of interface than most players of other English speaking countries, not only to check inventory or some menu, also to read dialogues and subtitles continuously.Surprised by the results of yesterday with Skyrim,I am trying to find some solution, through configuration, mod, mixed,no matter … to find a way to improve this.
Edge Peek mode,is a first great ally for me,but after seeing yesterday the results of skyrim, encouraged me to investigate on this topic, unfortunately,Oblivion seems to have a somewhat different system UI and not all default window modes.Edge peek mode, failed to solve problem on this occasion, interface in this resolutions, caused an error not visible text in dialogs in windows mode,(inside and outside edge peek mode).
It’s a shame, because everything was almost perfectly rescaled automatically.
I will have to investigate a little more.We have hundreds of games on the market, but Elders Scrolls, they manage to steal my dream, when it comes to using them in the best possible way in Cv1.
Sorry for huge text and my English,I recognize it is unbearable. :)Nov 6, 2016 at 9:08am #122519In reply to: Flight Simulation fail – One click from uninstall

ParticipantHi szeliga90
Thanks for your answer.
Totally agree with you in all points.
I have already tried flyinside and it is fine, but only for prepar3d. Plus the latest prepar3d supports the Oculus. With the help of the oculus debug tool I get some pretty decent fps and image quality. Plus you can have a second window with just a 2D panel for anything extra. With voiceattack it is fantastic.
So I thought that if I could turn the stereoscopic imaging off, I would save quite a few fps.Same goes for the DCS titles.
They have excellent support for Oculus and the flying and fighting is immersive. Also very good integration of mouse within the VR for cockpit interaction. Add voiceattack (PROPERLY TRAINED ;) and I was OK. So, no stereo imaging would be even better.I am sure that this is a fine software — but not for my needs– unless I am missing something, or something gets improved.
The fact that the games are not supported was OK for me, as I did not want stereoscopic imaging. But it will not even hook properly.
Anyway, I only lost 37 euro; small loss compared to more important things like for example, smilling ! :)
Cheers
