Hey, sorry if this is stupid but whatever I do I can’t play this because the sensitivity of the head-tracking while in vehicle is A LOT slower than while on foot. I followed every tutorial possible, I reset the settings (and then set them again) a few times, no matter what I do when I get in a vehicle I have to completely turn my head (in reality) just to be able to look out the window or at the passenger seat.

With input set to “windows” while on foot I have to set the head tracking sensitivity (using Vorpx) to 1.25 to be alright and while in vehicle only at maximum (5.00) it feels ok(ish).

Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

P.S. Of course I already tried turning “Mouse Driving Sensitivity” to max and playing around with the settings (done that for a few hours at least so I tried almost every combination possible) … nothing works.

    Thanks.

Hello! Oculus shipping is around the corner and i think i can finally fulfill my long dream about experiencing Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in VR. I have waited this since 2008. I ordered the freaking Trimersion back in days because i didn’t know any better back then.

So anybody knows how well this game is working with VorpX? Anybody have the game and can test it with VorpX 0.9? That game is just freaking amazing and it goes to “you need to play it” -category.

This game works great in geometry 3D. My settings:
    Steam Start Options: -console
    and paste in console:
    bind “w” “+forward;sv_cheats 1;fov 120;viewmodel_fov 120”

    because bow zoom resets fov

    Pixel Ratio 1:1 in VorpX

You can’t see the HUD, but its playable.

I just bought VorpX so I could play Outlast, but when I try and start outlast it just starts on the PC, not on the DK2. I got Crysis 3 working, (It looked like crap, all zoomed in made me cross eyes on G3D. But anyway, I thought I would try Outlast. Please help! I Have the latest Oculus run-time and the newest vorpx because I just bought it.

I think I have a similar issue, does it crash at startup? I bought it some weeks ago, and I still can’t get it to work, everyday I am trying something new, If I am lucky i will get it working before February.

Vorpx was working fine for me in every game

    Skyrim
    Zombiu
    Dirt 3
    Aliens vs predator 3
    Penumbra
    Amnesia
    Bfbc2
    Alien isolation
    Necrovision
    Gtaiv
    Gtav
    Bf3/4
    Payday 2
    Far cry 3/4

Then after the 0.9.1 version I got the error “unnable to initiate oculus runtime”, this was because the new driver invalidated every occulus runtime version below version 7.

Now only Skyrim and Zombiu work.

Updating to windows 10 made every game on steam and several others crash instantly upon starting, despite them working perfectly before the update to 0.9.1. and after several days of troubleshooting I am certain the problem is privilege related, to uncontingent framework dependencies, and those are basically just i/o. What really changed was not changed by me.

Im guessing the reason you couldnt use clone screen but used direct to HMD is the same reason i am getting the crashes, because the process that simulates direct to hmd is what is malfunctioning.

So I am instead forced to do a system restore to fix this, but the vorpx autoupdater is a pain, I have to be offline to use it.

If there was an option to not update beyond a certain patch i would be very grateful, at the current time whatever features are added do not matter because i am unnable to run almost any games with them anyway.

In windows 10 there is slight mouseacceleration which makes it unservicable for practising counterstrike unreal tournament or starcraft II at a competitive level, and i am not talking about the improved pointer precision feature.

I would bore you with links and videos of how i can compete at any level with the occulus rift as the FOV inflation makes you extremely accurate (try it for yourself if you dont believe me!) but giving an alternative just for me and a couple of others who struggle with windows 10 is a longshot anyway.

The reason i dont mind using direct to HMD is because i have gotten extremely good at running it, first i turn the HMD on, then i use launchy to start executibles using touch such as Vorpx, i never have to see them even open. For windows i close one eye and have perfect perception, i have to admit it was very difficult in the beginning and i understand the efficiency is much greater with the “Direct HMD access from apps” mode, but the compatability renders this useless for consumers that are not developers.

Are you certain 0.9.1. works with the games i have listed?

Either way vorpx is the best software for vr gaming, the customization perticularly with the real time IPD, 2d FOV and headtracking sensitivity was worth every penny i spent, when fully optimized i can play for days and not get motionsickness, so thank you deerly Ralf and the vorpx team.

the reason is because they have a nice refund policy if u have not played a game over two hours they also have huge sales and demos like the walmart of video games cheapest around u will need to return many because u will find out vorpx does not work flawless or at all very well with many the vorpx cinema option is nice better than virtual desktop but in vr many games just look weird and uncomfortable except fallout new vegas that is really not bad but not as good as oculus rift supported either i love people because Jesus loves me

Jesus prophesied over 2000 years ago that vorpx would arrive, and his prophecy has been fulfilled. I love vorpx because Jesus loves me. Praise jehovah almighty!!!

@nanard421, In your post you mentioned that you restarted the OSVR server and you got your DK2 to work? Did you get OSVR working with Vorpx? Just curious because I have the HDK for OSVR and I really wanted to be able to use Vorpx on it.

So dumb, so dumb. I don’t believe anyone here that says that works

Because it does, you’re the one who can’t figure how it works…

    EDIT:
But anyway, hopefully what Ralf just explained makes sense to you. That’s the reason why it’s not working…
And It’s the second time you start a topic talking like no one knows what they’re saying, and (again) you’re the one who’s misinformed. If you wan’t my suggestion, this topic could be called something like:
“Changing the exe name is’t working for me… can anyone tell me why?”
There’s no need to be rude just because you had a bad time trying to configure things and they don’t work… I know it’s frustrating, but stop acting like it’s anyone else’s fault…

I’m trying to figure out what is wrong with payday 2, when you switch on G3D you can only take it up to 0.05 in separation anything after that causes the colors to just become a garbled mess, mostly blue and red colors. Ralf is there anway to get the full version to work correctly? Demo works flawless. Maybe somewhere in the demo you could get the settings and copy them over into full version, i just don’t know where to look.

I just recently downloaded the free payday 2 demo, because i saw where it supports g3d, and OMG! It’s amazing in geometry 3d!!!! So here’s the really messed up part of this. I decided to go ahead and buy the full version, so after downloading, I fired up the game with vorpx and it’s all messed up. I noticed almost 1/4 of the menu was missing and thought oh crap this ain’t good and sure enough when the game loaded the colors were totally screwed up and caused my eyes to go crossed for a moment. It was like a bad anaglyph 3d mode or something. Ralf do you know or anyone else why the demo works flawlessly, but the full version doesn’t? I really would like to get the full version running properly on the rift.

I bought VorpX today just to enable VR support on my DK2 with the Talos Principle, which I also bought today.

I have installed the newest Oculus 0.8 runtime, the newest nVidia driver, and (I presume) the newest VorpX (since it just downloaded today and I have read on this site that the downloader always installs the latest version).

The DK2 works just fine for games and demos that I have used previously; all of them have native VR support.

However, when I run the VorpX program (with the corresponding yellow V in the windows tray), and then run the Talos Principle, I get the standard DK2 disclaimer screen in the DK2 but then only a black screen. I also get nothing but a dark grey screen on my monitor with a mouse cursor in the middle. I can move the mouse cursor but can’t do anything else. I have to ctrl-alt-delete, then show my desktop, to find the task manager showing that The Talos Principle is “not responding”.

I bought VorpX today specifically because The Talos Principle is reported as a supported game. So how can I get this game to work with VorpX?

For what it’s worth, I’m not running any anti virus software, any special 3d drivers or applications or really much of anything at all. I keep this PC free of almost everything, I just use it to run DK2 demos mostly and have very little installed.

    Thank you!

The black bars that move in from the outer edges when you sway your head are a side effect of the timewarp.

The “side effect of the timewarp”

Now I know what causes that delay when you move your head and the picture tries to follow your head (there’s no actual delay on the game itself, but the entire “screen” takes some extra time to follow your head)

I really can’t imagine why the picture can’t just be fixed on screen. I’m sure there’s a good explanation, but for someone who doesn’t fully understand how the Oculus works, it does look like something very easy to fix… just fix the picture on the screen, and let the tracker do the mouse movement. But what do I know… :P

You can really see the entire picture moving slower than your head (you don’t even need to do fast head movements, even moving slowly is noticeable, specially if you look at the game’s HUD) I wonder if this actually causes some extra headaches…

It does give you some disadvantage when playing CSGO (or any other FPS)

Everything else works fine, only the timewarp effect is the problem…

Ralf, is this something you might be able to fix in the future? Or does this have to do with the Oculus runtime itself?

    Thank You!

on 0.7 none of my bi games would open due to battleye on 0.8, all start and display apart from A3 with the non bi launcher now it works for arma2 and OA this way i use arma launcher by head, it does a2 and a3 you just show the game directory and the game.exe with that I choose the non battleye .exe this should not effect anything as the original launcher uses the same .exe but fires the batteye one instead, in one of the a3 updates a while back it changed from starting arma up and having to enable BE and then restart the game to this way they have battleye start first which caused the rift to not work on 0.7 due to the above dll that was mentioned it sees the rift as a head track cheat device was in the messages I got on screen.

I’ve been spending time with Crysis 3, Arma III and other games and all have this zoomed in view that makes them unplayable. Adjusting FOV to 120 doesn’t help here and IPD also doesn’t make any difference.

So it seems like the only way I can play these games is with cinema mode which isn’t as immersive and I can’t look all around me.

I’m really starting to feel like I’m wasting my time with it. Trying to reduce the zoomed in view on every game. I use the game optimisations and in some cases manually edit the game’s FOV but the games still don’t look right.

Does it make a difference which Nvidia graphics driver? I’m using an older one: 350.12

The whole thing is starting to really annoy me because it’s so far removed from the visuals I get with native oculus games.
