This is something that just started happening and it’s specific to direct9 only. The troubleshooting log ends with one or more

messages.
It may be related to me having multiple gpu’s, but that’s never been a problem until now. I’ve disabled and even uninstalled the drivers for the second gpu because, when this problem first started happening, direct9 games were all starting on the second gpu despite my windows settings. So, I used ddu to wipe my drivers and re-installed, and can run the directx9 games on my primary gpu now (had to uninstall nvidia drivers on the second gpu), but not with vorpx – it still fails to attach.
I installed (or windows update installed) KB4579311 which contained security updates for windows graphics components yesterday – I don’t see how they’re related but I just noticed the directx9 behavior the day afterward.
Anyway, I don’t play many dx9 games and I won’t be unless I can figure this out. I haven’t seen any problems with other api’s – opengl and dx11/12 games don’t seem to be affected.
Using one of the FOV options in the Direct VR Scan menu helped (increasing the FOV scale). It still looks kind of off but at this point I don’t think the FOV is the problem, I’m guessing it’s just because this game doesn’t have geometry 3d so it looks a bit weird compared to e.g. Bioshock. Would be really cool to have full VR support for this game, I think it’s one of the better fps games released in recent years.
glad you were able to order one Ralf :) and i hope you can get it in october !
actually that rumor about a rtx 3080 with more vram coming is the only thing making me feels a bit better about this.
i’m also now waiting to see what big navi will bring to the table, i dont like amd gpus much because of crappy drivers (and bad past own experience) but if big navi can compete with rtx 3080 and if it can be found in stock unlike ampere cards, then maybe i’ll just switch for amd.
it’s sure i wont buy one from ebay, because ebay = no warranty and much higher prices, & i hate scalpers.
Ok I can give that a try this week and see if it works. Its no biggie if I can’t figure it out, its just mildly irritating when I am in 3rd person mode.
Haha I’m surprised someone as deeply knowledgeable about peoples diverse gaming preferences as you are would ask. :) We all have our quirks and prefs.
For bethesda games in particular, I like to play 3rd person sometimes because a) The character customization, armors, etc, can be a lot of fun, which you can’t see in 1st person. b) Sneaking in bethesda games – 3rd person gives you a little extra camera maneuverability to see around corners slighly, move around your character, see them pulling off an assasination, etc.
So I like to switch between 1st and 3rd person depending on what I’m doing.
Cheers.
The Unity 5 Base profile renders Vaporum Lockdown very well in all 3D modes, but G3D needs tweaking to fix some lighting and shadows. I’ve just been running it in Z-Normal because I’m too lazy to fix the G3D myself.
Hello, I wanted to share a problem and solution I was having with vorpx. I bought vorpx recently and was having no issues launching and hooking vorpx to all of my 32 bit games. The problem was none of my 64 bit games would even attempt to hook.
I tried everything, disabling overlays, background processes, reinstalls, disabling antivirus, disabling firewalls, forums, alternative hooking, nothing would work. I then realized that in task manager I could only see a vorpx driver called ‘vorpControl.exe vorpX VR Driver Control (32 bit)’ and wondered if there shouldn’t be a 64 bit driver? Well, yes, I searched the forums and found that certain antivirus programs delete the 64 bit driver upon installation. I am using Bitdefender so checked the notifications and saw that there was nothing about deleting ‘vorpControl64 vorpX VR Driver Control’ driver?
I then tried disabling Bitdefender and reinstalling vorpx and like magic ‘vorpControl64 vorpX VR Driver’ was now there when launching, and all my 64 bit games are hooking just fine. Re-enabling Bitdefender after installation has no issue.
Just wanted to share this because it took me 3 days to solve. Also, that Vorpx is amazing and wonderful software, thanks for developing!
I know that Guild Wars 2 isn’t officially supported, but there’s a cloud profile for it, and it works. Another example of a game that works is Borderlands 3, which I have on EGS instead of Steam. My Steam games that have vorpx profiles don’t get an “attaching to” dialog, vorpx just seems to do nothing for Steam games. There’s no failure because it’s like it doesn’t even try. Like I said though, supported and even non-supported games work if they have a profile, as long as they’re not on Steam.
Thanks again for keeping updating Vorpx it’s fabulous!
So, after trying Death Stranding, i see that DLSS is possible with Vorpx.
I tought it was not possible, because when i want to try it with Monster Hunter World, it just dosn’t work in G3D… But Saying that, i remember that it’s maybe a G3D thing because it work well in Z3D in both Monster Hunter and Death Stranding if i remember well…
SO! In Z3D no problem, but in G3D with Monster Hunter i have the left eye OK, but in the right one, i only see the HUD, everything else is just BLACK.
Is it possible to fix this? Is it just on my side?
Also : non-related to Monster Hunter, is G3D possible in the futur for Death Stranding? If yes i will maybe wait it, because this game have great performance in general and in Vorpx it seems.
The 3D FOV enhancement option should only be used as a last resort if there is no other way to raise a game‘s FOV. As the message suggests that appears when you enable it, it can often cause visual glitches, especially in newer games.
For a custom profile the best way to deal with FOV would be to adjust the game FOV directly if possible (e.g. with an ini tweak), otherwise the Image Zoom option in the vorpX menu is a viable workaround.
If you haven‘t done so already, checking the Essential Hints Guide in the vorpX help might be useful, among other things it contains more detailed information regarding the various available options to deal with FOV.
I also noticed that the support from Microsoft will be submitted later. have already pre-ordered the HP Reverb and the G2. I am only concerned with the time until it natively supports VR. therefore I would be interested to know if this is possible via Vorbx. at least like some kind of bigscreen.
Literally EVERYTHING (unless theres some edge cases that break your PC cause its too much for it to handle) is supported with the Vorpx Desktop Viewer.
To get to this, launch Vorpx as you normally would. Dont launch a game or an application though, just get the program “Started” so its on the bottom right on your screen on the Start Menu bar. Right click it and Select “Start vorpx Desktop Viewer”
Put your headset on, you will have Vorpx displaying your desktop in Cinema/Immersive screen mode. No 3d, that requires actual ‘support’ for the program you are running; but I use this for watching movies or playing games without support all the time. For instance, Forza Horizon on Gamepass has an awesome battle royale mode, love launching it up with Desktop Viewer with music blaring and just go to town.
You can also launch Netflix or Disney+ or Hulu, etc and watch movies like you’re on a giant screen.
Small tip – Increase your Desktop Resolution to whatever you want the video output to be. For instance, Disney+ till only play a movie at 1080p if your desktop resolution, when you start your browser is at 1080p… so even if your monitor doesnt support 4k; go ahead and add 4k to your monitor as a resolution and then Disney+ movies should look much crisper. I believe Netflix does the same thing.
Good luck! Hope it works well for you until official support for Flight Sim
i was just banned on the 13th Aug during this vac wave happening right now. i did in fact use CS:GO with VORPX over this past weekend since i just bought the program on Aug 4th. i did not even connect to Vac server tho as i OBVIOUSLY know that is not allowed. but i did play with bots. and tried a surf server. i even had to set my game launch options to -untrusted because VorpX could not hook on right. this is so frustrating because i already forwarded my additional info to the vac team for review. but NO ONE gets a direct reply from them EVER anyway, this is what i have researched. so i just have to sit here and pray and hope they get to my case? i have also googled it and there have also been other people vac banned from vorpx in csgo but they were helped and got their vac removed. this process of a ban from a game has never happen to me and i am very uneasy about my account, skins, and investments. if any one have some guidance please i could use it right now
As far as I understand your hack you are moving the images outwards, which means there always will be parts of the scene farther apart than your eyes. This is not something you want to do since looking at these parts of the scene will make your eyes rotate outwards to fuse the left and right image together.
It seems to me that you might have confused SteamVRs ipdOffset value for another value like maybe the ipd in the hmd. All ipdOffset does is exactly the same thing as the 3D-Strength/Scale slider does in Vorpx, namely changing the scale of the world. It is changing the distance between the eye cameras and not the distance between the eye images. However, since you are looking at a virtual screen in VorpX:s screen mode the indirect effect will be the same as changing the distance between the eye images on that virtual screen, simply because ipdOffset is scaling the size of that virtual screen.
But this will never lead to diverting eyes unless you decrease the distance between the eye cameras so much that it becomes a negative distance (meaning that the right eye camera ends up to the left of the left eye camera, essentially swapping left and right camera views). Diverting eyes is only possible at a negative distance because (atleast in every game I have tried) the sky or other infinitely distant objects is never behind the screen. The sky is allways at the screen distance or slightly infront of it.
But most importantly; I just wish for an official way to have true-to-life depth in Dead Space 1 – 2 and several other games in the screen modes without increasing stereo conflicts of shadows and lights etc. Focal offset would be the solution to this if it didn´t increase stereo conflicts in said games. Focal offset is moving the images outwards but it is also changing the alignments of lighting etc in those images for those games. If there was another setting just like focal offset that didn´t change the alignment of lighting etc (it only moved the pixels) then I really think that would be a great addition to VorpX.
