Hi,
I’ve got a massive problem; I don’t know how many games run slowly, but these I tried:
Crysis 2: runs smoothly
FEAR 1: runs smoothly (for the most part)
Mirrors Edge: runs smoothly (for the most part)
Today I tried F.e.a.r. 2 and I only get 20-25 FPS!? o_O
I got an i7 4770K and a MSI 1080Ti GamingX(!) So in older games like Fear1, 2 or Mirror Edge, I should get way over 60FPS!
The CPU isn’t really used in most games, but even the GPU sits around at 30% in Fear2!!
I’ve already tried every tip in your “Basic Trouble Shooting” topic, but that didn’t help :-\
I also loaded the nVidia profile defaults, didn’t work either…
Please help!
thx,
dlder
I set my resolution and other parameters ingame menu (HL2 and Mirrors Edge) and it works fine, except stutters.
I thought that 1280×1024 is the best resolution for DK2 kit, not 1080×960, so i applied it in HL2 and Mirrors Edge. 8GB is optimal choice, because only 5GB used in VR gaming. Do you have DK2 or CV1?
Recently i bought vorpx license and tried to play in HL2 and Mirrors Edge on my DK2 in DirectVR Mode. After some seconds textures start to jump even if you standing. I dont know how to fix this issue. My ingame fps is constantly around 74-75. Also without enabling DirectVR mode everything runs fine.
My Hardware:
OS : Windows 10 Pro Build 15063 x64
Processor : Intel Core i5-3470 3.2 Ghz
Videocard : Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070
RAM : 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz
UT3 is awesome in VR! Here is a instruction how it works best for me.
There is no vorpx 3D option aviable regulary. You have to change UT3.exe to MirrorsEdge.exe . Now you can select Geometry 3D and Direct VR in the ingame vorpx configuration. Set your resolution to 1600×1800 or 1440×1920. Both works good for me. You can enable this via Nvidia custom resolution setting (inside Windows System Settings) and after this change the UTengine.ini (… my games/documents/Unreal Tournament 3/UTGame/Config..) ResX=1440 ResY=1920. Create an ingame UT-Account even for offline game. You need this to save your ingame settings. Otherwise you have to change it on every restart manually. Set the HUD-Size to 6-7. Disable all HUD stuff you dont need.
Vorpx ingame settings:
3D-Strenght/ Scale: 1.30
Game HUD Scale: 0.55
Game HUD Horizontal: 0.70
Game HUD Depth: 0.80
Dont forget the Direct VR Scan and Recenter Headtracking on start at the first stage.
All other stuff works out of the box for me.
Troubleshooting:
If after a while you ingame suddenly only can see a blackscreen but can open vorpx configuration just as normal and the game sound goes on… – Turn off Crystal Image in vorpx menu.
Suddenly Headtracking dont work? – Restart UT3 or just turn Direct VR off.
You hate the UT-move-bobbing in VR? – Open UTgame.ini and change Bob=0.010 to Bob=0.000 and bWeaponBob=true to bWeaponBob=false.
Have fun guys! :)
Thank you! It looks like I can’t launch Adr1ft outside of Oculus home, as that is where I purchased it. It just closes. Oh well, maybe I will buy the steam version sometime, that should let me.
I bought Mirrors Edge, it is in the supported list, but something is not right. I go into the game, and my character keeps spinning and spinning!!!! Ahh….! Talk about making me sick. LOL
Still playing with the settings, but if anyone has an idea of what I did wrong, let me know!
I got stuff working using the 0.8 runtime, i think the latest one is geared towards CV1. Well i only tested Mirrors Edge and some random stuff.
Maybe flawless widescreen can fix your fov? It’s free, I use it for battlefield 4 campaign mode. It’s able to bump it up by a little over 30, so 90 in the game + 30 from flawless widescreen, let me know if it works, I love mirrors edge ( 1 ; )
I purchased VORPX for my HTC Vive too and it is an interesting experience – however, only half of the games I’ve tried are working :
1) GTA V will not work : after seeing the GTA Launcher, I get a message “GTA5.exe not found, please re-install the game”. But that only happens when VORPX is loaded, otherwise it launches fine.
2) Deus Ex : with all settings to minimum and a very low resolution, I barely get 10 fps (although I have a GTX 980 ti and good CPU too).
3) Talos Principle : will not launch, I get a “Croteam crash reporter” (but then again, that is only if VORPX is loaded in memory)
4) Portal 1 and Half Life 2 will simply load normally on my screen and do not even show in the Vive.
Otherwise, Mass Effect 2, Portal 2, Alien Isolation and Mirrors Edge work fine …
I understand we are still Beta but was wondering if anybody had same problem and found a solution ?
You’re right zarlor, you can go ahead and launch games anyway despite the message in Oculus Home. Successfully been rifting on Mirrors Edge and Outlast. However Eldar Scrolls Online currently doesn’t work for whatever reason. Brings up message “Sorry we’re having trouble loading ESO.exe”
hi guys i am new to using vorpx and i either dont know how to get the games to work or vorpx to work, i have read the things u need to know page but that didnt help so here my specs
2 monitors, 1. 1920-1200 2. 1600-900
i have the oculus dk2 working as a third monitor
windows 7 64bit
oculus runtime 0.6.0.1
geforce gtx 970 no direct line to HDMI using an adapter
latest version of vorpx
geforce drivers 350.12
is anything here wrong? need help
like when i start a game up like mirrors edge or portal 2 both screens go black i can hear the audio but a small part of my 2 monitor shows up on the DK2
Thanks grumdark for the suggestion on MSAA however it still wont kick in to stereo 3d. I am not sure the 3d-z is working in other games either for me. Is farCry 4 a zbuffer game? If it is I also get no 3d. Also no luck with Metro 2033 redux. Geometry works fine where that is applicable. As you can see, I bought a lot of games on Steam’s summer sale to try with Vorpx :). So far Mirrors edge works well in geometry as well as Borderlands. I guess I could switch those to z-3d and see what happens. ill report back once I try them.
I have no troubles working vorpx with Steam:
Borderlands 2
Borderlands Pre-Sequel
Chivalry
DCS World
F1 2012 (needs open track)
F1 2014 (needs open track)
Far Cry 4
GTAIV
Metro 2033
Mirrors Edge
Portal 2
Outlast
Skyrim
Wolfenstein
Alien Isolation (mod game file)
Test Drive Unlimited 2 (have 3D but no head tracking)
I also have the Mass Effect trilogy and Alan Wake but I haven’t tried those games yet. Except for the games marked, all work with vorpx’s head tracking.
I tried mirrors edge and Left 4 dead2 under steam, both are not working at all with vorpx, then shamefully I downloaded a pirate copy of independent version of mirrors edge then vorpx hooks up with the game and works well.
this stops me buying more games at least from steam. please let me know how to or how long is vorpx going to support steam just like Tridef 3d did?
Another similar case is that Battle field 4 under origin (seems the only place I can buy a copy) is not workable with vorpx, every time it bounced back with the error of “directx 11 dll failure”. please help!
thanks and best wishes.
okay thanks,
Maybe this game could be on your list of possible games to make a profile for, you would only need to fix this issue then it could go in your supported list.
The 3D is really good, and the HUD at the sides is not required to play the game.
maybe someone on this forum will find some ini option that disables whatever it is doing to cause this issue, I found a few options in mirrors edge which fixed some issues in 3D (DynamicShadows,LensFlares, SunHaze) and it looks perfect now.
if anyone wants to give it a go its located in
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\HOMEFRONT\GCGame\Config\CGengine.INI
It looks very similar to Mirrors Edege’s INI.
good luck!
