Hello guys, I am in need of some assistance. I just got VorpX and I can’t seem to figure anything out. I finally was able to figure out you need to start VorpX before you turn on SteamVR or else you get issues, at least I do anyway.

So first of all apparently ElderScrollsOnline just isn’t going to work properly so there is nothing I can do there.

But I have been trying to get Morrowind to run, I open VorpX go to local profiles
and find the Morrowind one, I click apply and then turn on SteamVR. I launch Morrowind and nothing happens. Always stays on SteamVR Home. It opens on my monitor but I can’t figure out how to get it into the headset. Does anyone else have this problem? I have wandered around and seen that some people have managed to get this to work so i’m not exactly sure what i’m doing wrong.
    Any ideas? Thank You! :3

I agree in some specific parts of the previous messages.
I personally, I like Vorpx enough, because it has given me opportunity to play some of my favorite games, and I will always be totally 100% grateful in that aspect and others.

But on the other hand, I can not avoid having a bitter feeling, having totally tied hands, exclusive 3d profiling decisions, and in-depth testing of the creator.
(Except for small test copying basic profiles by users)

For example, within two days, launching Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind expansion, is a simple example, but I will never be able to know if we will have a geometry profile and z-normal + gui scale now, soon or never.

Probably the creator or developer, think, is not a timely decision right now, or maybe if it’s a good idea, but I’ll never be able to do anything about it to get it, unless you’re lucky in the order.
I can not even know if it is being considered at some point or if it is being tested, and this really saddens me a lot.
    This uncertainty.

I imagine the same thing happens to other people.
And I understand that some things are not as fast, easy, or always technically possible e.t.c.
However, I would also like to address this issue a bit, I think Vorpx should update more frequently for the inclusion of some oficial new game profiles, and minor fixes.Especially at this time.

    some dx11 works,are quite requested.

This is not a criticism, I just share, some of the sensations on the other side, as a client, as a player, and in general someone who likes to use this program for the only purpose of obtaining an improvement in this aspect.

    Exactly.
Although we may be able to reach an agreement with one of these propositions, and end up getting an improved result,as far as possible.
The comment above, by Benobi user, I find very interesting.

Probably a good idea, do some testing with Oculus Cv1 and Elder Scrolls Online and Alien Isolation for this possible functionality.
In any case,it is appreciated that you consider some option, although no promises are possible.

Hello guys. Yesterday i bought a Vorpx. At first i want to apologize for my english because its not so good but i will try.

Already i dont know anything. I got htc vive and yesterday i want to play outlast 2 in “FIRST PERSON” i installed vorpx , tried to launch couple of time outlast 2 with vorp x. When it launch i have a window close to my eyes and any of hotkeys dont work. Only shift + scroll. No ingame vorpx menu or something.

Well i thought i must try another game. I launch Cs:go , elder scrolls online and always screen was blinking in white and i wasnt able to do anything.

Well i’ll be very glad if anyone will try to “introduce” me to this program because i really wan’t to learn how it works and make some progress with it.

Im a quite smartass so just tell me what shoulda i know EVERYTHING about Vorpx and i will listen to you.

    Thank you very much.

Mmm ok I’ll go for parts :)

I use image zoom option next to the default values (aspect modes), but still it is not possible to get a problem-free result like the upper and lower black bands in spite of it.
In addition, the Hud/GUI is out of sight,in z-buffer reconstruction, because there is no rescaling available in g3d.
I am using Elder Scrolls Online to get this job.

I remember that in the past, when the profile for Elder Scrolls Online,I had temporarily available G3D reconstruction, I was able to come to an agreement between rescaling hud/gui + pixel 1:1 option + value zoom option + FOV ingame increased + a bit extraFOV 3d enhancement Vorpx.

-The result was almost perfect, but then we had the G3D profile … for this reason the creation of this thread, on the possibility of trying to improve at least the strech mode for greater utility and of course to take advantage of some other games.

Fixing G3d back to this profile would be a great solution very playable in this case, on the other hand I think that a possible retouch of strech aspect mode could improve especially for cases with z buffer3d,that do not allow GUI rescaling, giving up 2 big black bands and difficulty of reading quest among other things on the sides.

What do you think about it?

Hello, although I have talked a little about this step on another topic for a specific game,I have decided to create this proposal,to ask if it is technically possible,or consult opinions about it. Open to any discussion :)

It seems to be that we have some modern games that have a hard time getting narrower aspect ratios (some more than others) when it comes to better adapting to the headset screens and probably more games in the future continue these trends.
    (Elders scrolls online,Alien isolation,RE7 e.t.c.)

I am thinking of a secondary solution for these cases, and I would like to know if it is technically possible,if it is feasible to enter it in the next update.
In the aspect modes section of Vorpx internal menu, we have the options:
    Pixel 1:1, letterbox 1, letterbox 2, strech.

I would like to know, if possible increase a little wider, the strech mode.
Increase it a little but without turning it into a letterbox 1,but rather a value between these 2,or create a new mode between these two.
I think this could help with some games and having one more option is always good.

If there is any response from the developer on this subject, grateful.

I would like to propose the game (elders scrolls online) as candidate for work dx11 with vorpx, get g3d in this title would complete the support for Bethesda titles of maximum interest with VR.
In addition, there is an announcement for the launch of Morrowind expansion for 6 June 2017, and personally I really want to have this support in Vorpx even now.

G3D, we would return some advantages in this title, for players who have powerful equipment,in addition to better 3d.
For example, possibility to add a bit of extra FOV from the Vorpx menu,to extend a little distance between the camera and arms, also the HUD/GUI rescaling, and probably the function to activate or not positional tracking.

Personally,I would not mind if it is necessary to disable or exclude any possible graphic effect incompatible with g3d,I think it could deserve the effort equally.
I will include this request also in the Games Wish List,to formalize it in the corresponding section.

-I have noticed that the game itself allows several important options, such as the following:
    Positive Data:
    -Possibility increase of (FOV) ingame.
-Possibility of deactivation headbob in first person camera.
-Possibility of hiding HUD and bar skills out of combat and more options.
-Possibility to use gamepad including use of skills optionally.
-“Possibility to support window mode, borderless”, and full screen.
-All available ingame and also from game files.

    Negative Data:
-Changing resolutions to get closer aspect ratios like 4:3 or 5:4 or 16:10 does not seem to have any effect on the narrowing size change…or I’m just going through some detail with this particular game.
I have tried switching to borderless mode and full screen while changing different resolutions.Any ideas here?

-It occurred to me to perform a test using the (strech mode) available in the vorpx internal menu,as a last option, but this is too narrow.
It is probably a good idea to improve this mode,to make it a bit wider,
And thus have a secondary option for some games or cases like this.
I have always thought that having this option available together with letterbox modes 1 and 2 is a wise mode, but it is too narrow to take advantage of using it.

    Conclusions:
-A retouch for this mode(in general),and the inclusion of a G3D profile for Elder Online scrolls, would simply be a brutal added improvement.

    ——————————————————————————–
PD:Before I say goodbye, I would like to take advantage of this thread,
to dedicate 2 minutes to congratulate the great work done with the version Vorpx 17.2.0 and to thank the simple fact of being able to play some of my favorite games in vr.
I am really enjoying a lot of changes in the last two versions, and the DirectVR functionality seems like a great success,a function with many possibilities and the right way to go now and in the future with new improvements.
I also thank some of added profiles.
    regards.

A little update as I pursued my investigations and learning.

The step B is essentially used for steam games actually.
For other games (mostly non steam games like The Elder Scrolls Online and other MMO, or game that were added to steam as a launcher but still have their own servers like teso, smite, ghost in the shell first assault..) you will need to NOT start SteamVR and let vorpX do it for you automatically when he need it.

I managed to get non steam TESO, Ghost in the shell First Assault (nexxon servers) work this way.

In a lot of cases, I found that changing the keybind for vorpX functionnality quite usefull as shift/alt/ctrl are widely used in a lot of mmo/fps.

Oh so that’s what the generic headset is for, I had difficulty understanding all the options I admit.

Fove don’t work as a normal windows monitor, I use big screen for that, so far it worked for vlc when I used the htc desire mode, I will test your suggestion. I don’t own a second graphic card so it should be ok this way.

About your suggestion to shutdown other monitors, I tested it just now and here is what happened

    error when launching vermintide

But at least that was a progress because vorpX hooked to the game after it’s launch.

I found out that steamVR compositor was unable to start, so since you said me vorpX use steamVR .. after fighting with win 10 desktop and windows moving out of the screen for some time, I finally managed to get it start, and have the game running in vorpX mode. Pfew ..
I must say that when you finally manage to configure it perfectly, it’s mindblowing.. for a game totally not intended for VR gameplay, it’s just perfect, I even found awesome to be able to precisely target with my head, so mouse for general turn and you target precisely with your head .. it come naturally and I would hope any FPS work like that now.

I Will try to get “Ghost In The Shell : First Assault” working (what other game could be more emblematic of VR than ghost in the shell ?) then work on arma3 (saw a config file already exist) the elder scrolls online.
Then I will have a try at Star Citizen (saw people using config for occulus but since I’m not using an occulus).

So in next post I try to write the steps I used to make it work.. hoping to ease the way for other users of Fove HMD.

I really enjoy elder scrolls online now since adaptive 3d works properly in cinema mode now. Heights are really amazing and depth of 3d is satisfactory till g3d comes along. Great update thanks

Okay, so I understand more than the last time I posted. This isn’t the easiest thing to get a hang of.

I got Skyrim to work fairly well. I’m working on Elder Scrolls Online. So far, I can’t get the 3D to work. I offers Z-Normal and Z-adaptive, but both are ignored. No geometry being offered.

One immediate problem I bump into is on the Optimize Game Settings tab, when I click “Apply” for ESO it says to set the FOV in the game options, but no such option exists. When I click “Apply” I got an error. Later the error went way, but nothing changed.

The biggest problem, though, is that I don’t know how to try to switch from DX 11 back to DX 9. Where do I set that?

Might be system/settings dependent, but on my main dev machine here (fairly recent Core i7, GTX 1070), performance of the Special Edition is actually quite a bit worse than with the original DX9 version, same on a second machine with a slightly older Core i5 and a GTX 1080. Not only with vorpX but in general.

That’s not what I would have expected, but it pretty much is in line with benchmark comparisons I could find online, e.g. over here (German, but the benchmark diagram near the bottom of the article should be universally understandable).

I think the Helix Mod guy got Elder Scrolls online 3D working for DX11.
I’m not sure if this will be any help Ralf.
