    Elite Dangerous Odyssey
just like the last two Tombraider Shadow games, it has support for native real geometric 3D …
!!! … even with a 3D depth control for individually adjustable stereo 3D depth …

Simply set Side by Side in the options … then set the depth of the room according to personal preferences … and you can start using a 3D projector or VR glasses …

I think VorpX supports this native 3D in Side by Side … just needs to be set somewhere …
I’m going to test this out today …

Otherwise, Virtual Desktop is also possible if you press F6 or F7 for 3D … and F10 for a possible reversal of the eye dominance … i.e. when the left eye sees that of the right … so wrong 3D …

In any case, VorpX works with Tombraider Shadow … then Elite Dangerous Odyssey will also work …

Don’t really have anything specific to recommend in that respect, sorry. Never tried it, so I have no clue what might work best.

On a sidenote: for games with native SBS 3D support you are best off creating a new profile based on one that handles SBS input (e.g. Rise of the Tomb Raider for DX11). For a bunch of reasons directly hooking into a game is always better than using desktop capture later.

To make that easier I’ll add a profile template for games with native SBS 3D in the next vorpX update.

Thanks Ralf! Your support is always so appreciated, you’re the best :D I will try this later today :D
It’s not that I don’t like the FullVR support, it’s just that I don’t like first person games hahaha :D I only like playing RDR2 in 3rd person mode, so forced 1st person is kind of a deal breaker for me :D

But now that you mention the possibilities of your new FullVR mode I will give it a try and try to think of it more like a HL Alyx experience, see if that works for me :D

However I must mention that I have been playing other games such as Nier Automata and Shadow of the Tomb Raider with Vorpx lately, they look very very good :D

Worth saying that Big screen VR allows you to flick to 3d sbs. I’ve used it in the past to play Tomb raider.

Another app worth looking in to for sbs gaming would be Helix, available on steam.

Just to add – unlike most stuff, im not sure about Big Screen VR; but Vorpx Desktop viewer w/ Reshade still includes Headtracking, in the event you wanted headtracking still in a game that was SBS 3d

Got Doom Eternal in 3d w/ Headtracking this way

first, you need to know what engine the game uses.
second, you need to find a game in the profile list (or sometimes cloud profile list) which uses the same profile, for example unreal engine 4.
third, you need to make a copy of that profile and then attach the exe of your game to that profile.

next, try to start the game, maybe it will hook and maybe 3D will work (Z3D or/and g3D), but maybe it wont, if that’s the case, you can try another game profile using the same engine.

sometimes for 3D to work, you need to launch the game in windowed mode or fullscreen mode, and sometimes you even have to turn off antialiasing or other things like dlss or other stuff.

sometimes it just wont work and you’ll have to ask for a profile in the game wish list thread, sometimes it will, you wont know if you dont try.

fun fact, i remember before shadow of the tomb raider got an official profile, i had it running in Z3D using conan exile profile which runs on a total different game engine, that’s the magic of vorpx for you, but most of the time games with different engines wont hook if you try, ie creating a profile using a unity engine game for a game running on an unreal engine 4 engine will probably not hook.

also dont forget vorpx right now doesnt support vulkan, and dx12 is Z3D only atm.

    1st person:
    – Cyberpunk 2077 (the parade!)
    – Metro Last Light (feels like proper vr game)

3rd person Immersive Screen Mode with high custom resolutions:
    – Shadow of the Tomb Raider (best graphics, great sound)
    – Witcher 3 (nice atmosphere)
    – Tomb Raider 2013 (best Lara)

I’m having trouble getting games to hook in openxr mode that all hook fine in steam vr mode. So far only Shadow of the Tomb Raider hooks in XR mode and doesn’t crash at start. It also runs much more smoothly than through steam vr so I can see the update working as intended for that but other games either hang and I get the message about it taking longer than expected, do I want to install hook helpers etc… also tried that to no avail and some start the triangle fade out in WMR then it crashes right back to cliff house. These are some I’ve tried:
    BFV – hangs
    SWBF2 – hangs
Witcher 3 – fadeout and crash in wmr, game continues to run on monitor
Dishonored – fadeout and crash in wmr, game continues to run on monitor

    HMD is G2, RTX3090 GPU

    Thanks!

There is a list on PCGamingWiki with Native 3D support https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/w/index.php?title=Glossary:Native_3D. Of course it’s not comprehensive, you might notice Avatar and Far Cry 2 are not there.

Of the 37 games, 16 have vorpX profiles (based on the data that you are probably filling in on the wiki). At least Shadow of the Tomb Raider is SBS in the official vorpX profile.
I used SOTR profile to hook into other DX11 games supporting SBS. Now it should be possible for older DX9 based on the Avatar profile.

This was happening for me as well. It seems to be a combination of two things: vorpX changing game settings and the official profile being SBS.

The game natively supports SBS and vorpX uses that option instead of its own G3D or Z3D. In order to use that it needs to enable SBS in game config. If you already changed the game config (resolution, display mode etc.) prior to running with vorpX there might be some conflicts.

In my case when running the game normally it would start, but when I got into display configuration and enabled SBS the screen would go black. Also I managed to start the game with vorpX hooked but without SBS and in the headset each eye would see half the screen. So I figured it’s not vorpX hooking that’s the issue but this SBS mode causing the black screen.

I tried restoring settings from vorpX config app but that didn’t help. In the end what worked for me is completely clearing the game config by deleting this registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos Montreal\Shadow of the Tomb Raider\
Once I’ve done that I started the game without changing anything, went into display settings and enabled SBS. This time it worked without causing the black screen.
Then I started the game with vorpX and that also worked. I adjusted resolution and graphics after that.

Vorpx supports some games with build-in 3D, in that profiles Z3D and G3D is deactivated and hidden, for example the last couple Tomb Raider Profiles. This Profiles support Side-by-Side 3D input, as well as the vorpx Desktop Viewer. Start games that are officially supported(!) by Reshade’s Depth3D in SBS Mode and hook it with the Tomb Raider Profiles or other profiles that are similar (Deus EX ?), and enjoy the full vorpx features with an alternative 3D-Driver for example Depth3D or TriDef.

The Depth3d VR Companion App is Crap, use vorpx for full comfort !

What i wish for the future is a similar vorpx profile that supports DX12 !

As title says, not a single game will attach to Vorp.I’ve tried the following games:

F1 2018 (which is the game I really want to play)
    Civ V
    Life is Strange
    AC Oddysey
    Alan Wake
    Dishonored
    Dishonored 2
    Tomb Raider

I’ve go no other programs running besides Steam and Vorpx.
    I don’t have a virus scanner.
    I uninstalled Geforce Experience.
I’ve disabled the steam overlay on all games.

I’ve tried launching SteamVR first, then the game. I’ve tried launching the game from Vorp Desktop. Nothing works. VorpX won’t attach to anything.

    I’ve got a Valve Index, A Ryzen 3700X and a GTX 2070 super.

    Can anyone help me?

sometimes even games running on different engines work in Z3D.
for example before official shadow of the tomb raider profile, i was able to run the game in Z3D using conan exile profile and it’s been the case for some others games (with various vorpx profiles) :D
dont ask me why, i guess it’s vorpx magic haha.
