Sehr seltsame Sache.

I changed it to OpenXR, uninstalled SteamVR and that seemed to have some success. For once, I was able to play for longer than 10 minutes but this is only without FidelityFX or a custom resolution. With a high custom resolution the game runs smoothly for 4-5 minutes but then my headset/game crashes but honestly, I’m not sure which one is crashing, the headset just blacks out with a horizontal line in the center. One other problem that I’ve been facing from the start is that vorpX fails to hook most of the time and then gives me a blackscreen until I force close Metro by Task Manager (I can’t even tab out or see task manager. I just use the arrow keys and go to the top most executable and end tasks blindly) I could only really get vorpX to hook to Metro when it says that the last launch was unsuccessful (ending it via Task Manager) and it prompts me to use safe mode then after a few seconds I see vorpX saying that it is attaching to Metro while I’m still on that prompt, click no and then it finally works. I’ve also tried the alternative hooking method but it didn’t work

I’m happy to report that the Battle Cry demo is working great in G3D. A little heavy like all new games, but all effects are 3D. Once you turn off the cartoon colors, nametag icons and HUD, you can get a very immersive first-person battle experience that feels much more convincing than what you see in the typical videos. Cloud profile and recommended settings:

    Battle Cry of Freedom (G3D)

    Video
-use a 4:3 resolution (or any desired ratio can work in this case)

    1920 x 1440 – performance
    2560 x 1920 – balanced
    2880 x 2160 – quality
2480 x 2260 (my own custom resolution optimized for FOV + clarity of my Reverb)

Again, windowed mode works best here, so make sure your desktop is set to a resolution equal to or higher than you will use in game.

    -set FOV to 88
    -Anti Aliasing = TAA
    -turn off Color Correction
-Medium graphics and shadows recommended, with Textures on High

    Misc.
-offset 3rd person camera side to max 0.3
-default zoom on 3rd person camera to -2.0
-enable Hide HUD (also choose which elements the HUD can display)
    -turn off icons and nametags
-auto aim down sights (optional, I prefer to toggle with hotkey)

    Keys to assign
    -toggle 1st person
    -toggle ADS aim down sight
    -Character camera rotation (free-look)
    -toggle HUD

*try the alternative “crackling” sounds for guns. Music can be turned off
*vorpX Shadow Treatment can toggle off sunshine if you want a bleaker overcast lighting
*tested on HP Reverb with mouse/keyboard

I encourage anyone interested in war games to give this a try this week while it’s free. Defending a fortress under siege when the 100+ enemy are pouring over the walls in gunsmoke, then loud close quarters chaos ensues – it’s epic to witness and intense to play.

A better idea of first person gameplay to scan through, but it’s better in VR of course :)

I can no longer open the in-game menu even if I change the keys or reset the defined ones. I’ve seen this happen at least when vorpx to attack a game, it happens to me with god of war, installs an add on called ookhelep or something like that. I’ve also tried uninstalling and reinstalling vorpx.

The wish-list item: Just been playing FO3 again for a while and realized that a basic macro-function would be perfect. For example I want to either turn off 3D or enter into Edgepeak mode every time I bring up the Pip-boy. I want edgepeak to activate every time I enter VATS and turn off every time I exit. I end up doing all these things manually (I have one of those little keyboards attached to my XBox One controller, so it’s not too bad, as I can set custom hot-keys for accessing edgepeak etc.) But a basic macro-builder in vorpX itself would make things like that easier and more fluid.

And the question: Is there a good resource where I can see exactly what the default Index controller mappings and functions are for various games? It’s always been fairly confusing for me to try and figure out exactly how to utilize the Index controllers properly without having to resort to some functions on the keyboard, which is less than ideal for obvious reasons. It would actually help me to have a chart I could easily reference before playing a game.

Do yo have the extra Cyberpunk mod installed? If so, you have to uninstall for playing on your monitor. The mod is independent from vorpX and hooks into the game regardless whether vorpX is enabled or not.

If you don’t have the mod installed, you can exit vorpX from its tray icon’s right click menu.

As far as the menu is concerned, make sure the game is running in the foreground, otherwise no hotkeys are registerd.

    Hello,
Firstly thank you so much for this greatest product! However I have 2 troubles now.

    1. In-game menu keys don’t work
I succeeded to launch VR mode on Cyberpunk 2077 but DEL, Middleclick or any other vorpx keys don’t work. Is there any configuration I’ve missed?

    2. How to switch VR mode / monitor mode
vorpX always hook my Cyberpunk even while all processes of vorpx are terminated… how can I turn off vorpX and launch the game as usual?

    Hope anyone knows answers. Thanks

    Hello everyone,

I got a few Steam Keys to give away, all you have to do is take 5 Screenshots:

    – Choose 5 different games from This List
    – Take one Sceenshot from each game
    – Click a game to submit a screenshot
    – First submitter of 20 Screenshots will additionally receive a special game (see page)

Once i have received your Screenshots, youll immediately be returened with a key.
Note: Please dont ask me what games they are, i am not commercial, rather small games then AAA. Also note i can not guarantee that a key will work. Perhaps see this as a little “Screenshooter” contest ;-)

If you can’t find a user profile on the cloud profiles page of the vorpX config app, you can try to make your own by copying another UE4 profile and then assigning the game’s .exe to the copied profile.

For more detailed instructions check the ‘User Profiles’ section in the vorpX help. It also lists a bunch of UE4 profiles that you can try as a base profile.

Hi Ralf, I have tried these UE4 profiles (Conarium, The Turing Test, Get Even, Vampyr) but in none of them I have achieved any 3D effect, neither with G3D nor with Z3D. Is it possible that with this game the 3D mode cannot be activated?

On the other hand I have been testing the VorpX profile for the Arma 3 and it is very successful.
I like that you can play with the head separated from the weapon, but it would be even better if you put the option to assign the movement of the touch controller (pitch / yaw) to the weapon and it would be perfect. I have tried it with the auto_oculus_touch program and it works perfect but this program does not work from SteamVR.
In addition, this configuration would be useful for those who play FPS games in Immersive Screen mode and it is not convenient for them to use the head or the gamepad to move the weapon, and do not want to use the mouse.

It would also be perfect if you left free decision of assigning buttons and axes to the touch controllers, since for example I need to assign the movement keys (wasd) to the thumb pads of both touch at the same time, but you only allow me to assign it or to the right or to the left. Wouldn’t it be easier to leave free assignment of axes and buttons to any remote control and to adapt it to any configuration?

By the way congratulations on the development on the VorpX, very good job.
    Thanks a lot.

    1) For those detecting Malware, I’m running only MS Defender and it detected nothing wrong.

    2) Played with it in v1.31 for a few minutes and it looks pretty good. I’m surprised the performance is as good as it is. So far this doesn’t impact performance as much as I expected it to. BUT, I do still notice a lot of artifacts around NPCs. I double and triple checked to be sure I was on “Direct VR” (or whatever it’s called). It also doesn’t get quite as much sharper as I expected at lower resolutions. Compared to, say, Fallout 3 or Fallout 4, where the Z3D -> G3D is blindingly obvious, it’s more subtle here. Is this due to the Direct VR mode, or do I have something wrong? I will also have to push 90Hz because the right/left interlaced rendering becomes glaringly apparent at lower refresh rates.

    3) Is there any way I can make it respect my hotkey assignments from vorpX settings? I have things like ‘Reset VR view’ configured to different keys than usual. Most important would be the vorpX menu buttons, which I map to keyboard strokes only (I have an Xbox controller and I’ve added the little keyboard, so I can access all these right on my controller.)

I’ll try it with v1.23 once I get a full backup of that directory completed. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will work.

Thank you Ralf! What a great piece of work.

Before you all destroy your F5 keys: release will be later today.

Mods: Cyber Engine Tweaks in itself is not a problem. As far as the actual mods are concerned, judging from their names I would consider stuff like the sneak, sniper and driving mods potential candidates for causing trouble. Doesn’t have to be the case, just a guess based on their names.

    Hi Ralf!

Thanks for the quick response, managed to get it to work using keyboard and SteamVR mode in RE7 I reinstalled everything the Vorpx, Oculus and Steamvr apps and now it gets hooked and menu opens fine along with the other variables keys.

The other question that I have, I was planning to use a gamepad (I have a sixsense using an app third party) Do you recommend Keyboard + mouse or can it be configured to use gamepad?

Thanks for the assistance and now I am in the steps of all the configuration and FPS lol

BTW: keys stay valid unless you reinstall Windows or change vital hardware, so often for the whole lifetime of a PC. Even when you uninstall completely, an older key can be re-used on the same PC/Windows install. So it makes always sense to keep key e-mails.

    Define Vital.

Changing your video card, memory, hdd … I would think not.
Changing your Mobo, cpu … probably.
Changing more than 2 of any of the above … I understand.

    @ RJK_

Yes, there is a C API for communication between game mods and vorpX. Not sure if it’s used somewhere else, but at least I’m using it myself for a bunch of titles where some stuff is done that wouldn’t work without a dedicated mod portion.

    @ drowhunter

I didn’t want to change the version number for a single fix, the next regular update is due shortly anyway. You can just run the installer without uninstalling. That’s like an update install, just without an auto update in this case.

Yes, the overlay in the top/left corner of the game window.
