moarveerParticipantSo first, Bioshock Infinite can now be set up to high sharpness without crashing. I really couldn’t notice any big difference since the game was already pretty sharp, but it looked smoother performance wise, i don’t know if that makes any sense, nothing could make it stutter, playing with geo3d, ultra resolution in config settings and ultra quality in game options with 2080ti. Where I did notice the big improvement in sharpness was when in DLC 2 you go back to Columbia, I played the main game before the FSR sharpness update and it’s quite clear how much better it looks in comparison, but also performs a lot better, no matter that the scene was pretty packed, it was really smooth.
Also Borderlands 3 now works great, I reset the profile to factory default and FOV was fine without touching anything, also after DirectVR scan the tracking is top notch, perfectly smooth. I tried geo3d and it was playable, but I simply prefer higher res with z3d, setting resolution to ultra, sharpness to high and the game was perfectly smooth and looked great, really what a difference DirectVR tracking makes, the only issue is that it can take several tries until it succeeds.
So great work, thanks for the update Ralf!

RalfKeymasterMasterchief Collection only, and I only checked the CE campaign, which is the one officially supported. With some luck it might also work for other MCC campaigns.
Unfortunately the whole collection is structured in a very unusual way: there is only one overarching executable that loads the actual games as DLL. Makes it somewhat convoluted to load individual settings for each campaign. The vorpX profile system expects one game per .exe, not six… Hence only the CE campaign is fully supported currently.
I didn’t touch the original DX9 Halo profile for the time being and also (obviously) no user profiles.

moarveerParticipantGave this a try today with Bioshock Infnite. In works great on medium, but setting it to full gave an awful visual glitch on BI and seemed to lock the game, so I had to close it. The image clarity improvement is fantastic, things look a LOT sharper even on medium, you can notice how objects far away are way easier to see clearly, and it actually added a lot to the immersion.
I have to admit that I never touched the sharpening option before so this is quite a big improvement for me, maybe others used to using the previous sharpening tool don’t notice it that much.
On the other hand, aliasing is a bit more obvious now in my case, still well worth it though. All in all a fantastic addition to Vorpx, I will be using it in all games from now on, or at least see how they work with it.

RalfKeymasterOnly do that if you don’t care about the FOV being right. Under normal circumstances you don’t want to touch this setting. In FullVR mode the game FOV has to match the headset FOV (see above).

ey_acParticipantI have the same problem as Ticlon and mrbrock with a fresh install of GTA5 from steam.
My headset is the oculus quest (“quest one”) via link and oculus touch controllers.
If I disconnect my controllers, the game launches in VR and everything works but I can’t control my character with the keyboard and mouse.
If I connect my controllers, even if just one, the game crashes immediately after with the same exit code as Tobias: “0xc0000374”.
If I launch with the controllers plugged in, the controllers work in the menu but attempting to launch story mode crashes the game.
I can use the menu with the controller just fine but it does crash at random even there.

kurryParticipantHi Ralf,
Would it be possible to create an easier way for vorpx desktop to start automatically?
I only use Vorpx, so its annoying to have to charge my Touch controllers in order to launch
Oculus desktop, so I can launch Vorpx from there LOLSep 2, 2021 at 9:33am #206000
RalfKeymasterThe shader authoring page will look just like before. The authoring key unlocks more pages in the authoring UI, you don’t have to touch any of that unless you want to.
Aug 23, 2021 at 4:16pm #205812In reply to: Steam Store Question
RJK_ParticipantIIRC You would be still forced to register at “Steam” though, otherwise you wouldnt be able to make a purchase. Besides “Steam” forces customers to reveal personal data. In my eyes selling something on “Steam” always puts a bad light on a seller.
I am in strong doubt that “Steam” users do not know how to use google and find VorpX, so that potentional you mentioned i would kindly call a pure guess. Though you name it: “Steam” makes cash on every seller. Too much ! I would strongly advice Ralf not to deal with “Steam”. Nvidia doesnt, Wallmart doesnt either, the Helixvision guys probably do just because they havent found an easier way. The way VorpX is beeing sold is just perfect, no mess with third party crap.Never touch an running system !

fallbalanceParticipantI’m not sure if this changed in a recent version, but on my end it specifically says “hide less important notifications”. It sounds like a matter of minor semantics, but the “less” in that statement indicates that it won’t touch “more” important notifications. I’ve tried this a few times, and it does nothing for the bothersome notification, so I guess this is considered a “more” important one… Is there something obvious that I’m missing here?

Cre8iveParticipantJust in case anyone is still interested in this.
I recently tried it again and could get the motion controllers to work by using this:
https://github.com/rajetic/auto_oculus_touchThere is a script “oculus_touch_air_mouse.ahk” for the tool AutoHotKey (https://autohotkey.com). If you run this it will map the pitch/yaw movements from your motion controller to your mouse movement.
This works really well.
Hint: In the original the movement is only activated if you press the right hand trigger (which conflicts with EdgePeek). If you it to be continously activated without pressing a button just delete the following line from the script:
if GetAxis(AxisHandTriggerRight) > 0.5Aug 14, 2021 at 2:09pm #205680In reply to: Skyrim SE xbox360 controller disconnecting
RalfKeymastervorpX doesn’t touch this setting at all. Skyrim is being played that way for years without anyone ever bringing up such an issue. As mentioned above, I also played it myself many hours. Plus the game actually still is one of my regular test titles. I’d love to tell you something else if I could, but this is not an issue that occurs under normal circumstances.
Aug 8, 2021 at 2:25am #205606In reply to: Skyrim SE xbox360 controller disconnecting
RalfKeymasterNever heard of anything like that before, sorry. The main point of the DirectVR scan is enabling 1:1 headtracking via accessing memory addresses, so after sucessfully running the DirectVR scan vorpX doesn’t have to emulate a mouse anymore and auto disables the gamepad override, which prior to the scan is necessary since the game can’t handle simultaneous mouse and gamepad input. When the override gets disabled after the scan, the game’s native gamepad handling kicks in. Played many hours of Skyrim myself that way.
You can see also see that in vorpX menu. While before running the scan the override is enabled, after a successful scan the setting is named slightly differently and should show ‘Off’.
The only two settings in the vorpX menu you’ll ever want to touch for Skyrim (DX9 as well SE) are the resolution quality on the DirectVR page and optionally the sharpening amount.

RalfKeymasterTouch controllers function either as mouse/keyboard or as gamepad substitute. Per defaut mouse/kb mode is active in most profiles. You can change that on the VR controller page of the vorpX menu where you can also freely configure the mouse/kb emulation button mapping.

Jul 12, 2021 at 11:43am #205206
senoctarParticipantI’m not sure how you intend to use a keyboard in VR for games.
Is it just a keypress now and then or is it central to the gameplay? If used rarely you could try a SteamVR overlay like OVR Toolkit. If you’re on WMR you might be able to use the built-in overlay. Note this would require using the controllers to point at keys.
You might also try to learn touch typing so you can find the keys without looking. If it’s central to gameplay there isn’t a good option. There are some overlays that can use a camera to display the real keyboard and hands in VR but they don’t seem to get the best of reviews. Maybe use a keyboard with raised gaming keys or a mouse with 9-12 extra buttons.
Personally I use a mouse with 8 function buttons and the typical keys around WASD that I can press without looking.
