For what it’s worth, I really thought AER was quite inferior until I tested a game using both methods and couldn’t really see a difference. Synced frames at 90 hz (rendering 180 fps for both eyes) vs. 180 fps AER running at 90 hz. All that “jarring at fast movement” goes away.

@dellrifter22 VK3DVision supports AFR in a lot of different engines. The upcoming Zelda: BOTW VR mod uses it even in an emulator. It’s certainly not a limitation of a single engine.

One interesting thing VK3DVision does is it can pause the game to capture both frames before going to the next frame, so it doesn’t actually have to switch between the eyes, you can take the “half framerate” hit if you want instead (though geometry 3D often takes about half your performance anyway)

Both Doom Eternal and Doom 2016 work in full Alternate Frame Geometry 3D with the free Vk3DVision app (can work nicely along side VorpX or it can send it directly)

Ahh, looks like the VorpX forums finally allowed a link through. Try that one!

This definitely looks nice! @Ralph, I was wondering. A lot of games that people have added in the memory pointers for a freecam, the look is separated from the aiming.

Does VorpX have a way that I could use those look values instead? (I could also disable look aiming and try to do it completely outside of VorpX, but that would most likely conflict, trying to use another OpenVR / OpenXR library

Why would you want to when it has native VR now?

It’s interesting that the developers said that they used VorpX to try VR out to see if it native VR would work: https://www.techradar.com/news/no-virtual-reality-on-the-horizon-for-sea-of-thieves

We should start a Discord group so we can talk about stuff like this. Anyone else interested?

I completely understand! I’m a huge fan of VorpX and have convinced quite a few people to buy a copy. I was only trying to help with additional workarounds.

If anyone has any questions about this, you can contact me through the Reddit link on the Youtube video (elliotttate).

@RJK_ Hmm, I’m sorry. Can you force Youtube to play it at 1080P? It tried it on a couple computers and it looks very readable at that res.

I’m a developer myself and absolutely know the difference between z-depth and true geometry 3D. This workaround is true Geometry 3D (Nvidia 3D Vision in VR is also useful as a workaround for other games that aren’t supported in VorpX yet).

@Ralph That is great news!! Looking forward to it. Keep up the amazing work! When VR REALLY catches on, your name will be in the history books as the person who really helped bridge the gap at the beginning :-)

@Ralf, have you ever considered a subscription option in an addition to the VorpX price where you could hire someone else just to add additional support for those of us that would be willing to pay for it? The subscription payers would get access to the added support of what was added by this additional employee and will eventually be included in the main VorpX after a period of time for everyone else. You would continue to add support like you have too though for all the main VorpX users.

Thanks! I actually found that you can open the SQLite file that contains all the VorpX profiles and edit them that way too.

@nieda113 Have you gotten Nvidia 3D working well with the Rift? If so, I’d be curious of your method
