True, in some cases a larger screensize could help, for example racing games where the cockpit appears too small.

Yes is did, but somehow i came to the conclusion Ageia was a software instead of a company. So we better forget about this posting ;-)

Though i still wonder what engine Gothic 3 is running with.

If you are using the text-mod i have mentioned above, remove pnl_quick_bar.mdl from the override folder, this moves the spellbar back into the center of the sceen for better readability.

Quake 4 profile doesnt show black screen anymore when pushing ESC. Though Quake3 profile (as far i remember) has HUD adjustment which is missing here. I have uploaded a profile to the cloud with G3D in FULL VR mode. Looks quite nice to me, push DEL for a nice 3rd person view. Only issue here is the HUD which still could be larger and better visible. Tell me if you like it.

ive tried that app, no help.

Anyway, for this particular Game i choosed rather to use 3D-Vision. If anyone wants to play Star Siege in VR, i have added a profile to the cloud. The resolution is relatively low, but at least it works with nice depth in G3D.

One interesting point about this game : i have learned that sometimes a game looks way better in cinama mode then in FULL VR like this one where the camera angle cant be adjusted and you want to overlook a larger area.

That app would only make sense if the resolution can be set to higher values then then the regular windowed mode. But thanks , ill give it a try !

I would try the ones that use openGL http://megalist.interkohl.com/engines/vorp_check.php?s=need with the profile you use for your game.

Using a quake 3 profile makes the headtracking work better, but 3D settings must be done very carefully. Leaving the game performes better with Quake 3, HUD has better quality, but still text is not readable. Black Screen appears with all profiles used when pressing ESC in order zu go back to main menu.

I have just installed the Deluxe Edition patched to v1.68. VorpX hooks into the game, i was using the Star Wars, Old Republic Profile which gave me an excellent G3D. Positional Headtracking was working but not headtraking in main.

The graphics look amazing especially on very high resolutions but the game is unplayable in VR because the HUD is way to small. When lowering screen resolution, HUD is gaining in size, but still unreadable in VR. I think that could be a problem with many other games too where you have to click and answer/ask questions.

Did anyone manage to use (read) the HUD ?

For older games the rule is checking the currently available versions, which usually means Steam and GOG. There is no way to keep track of (or often even acquire) every potential CD/DVD version that might have been released in the past.

Please forgive my criticism, I would only partly agree with that because it would mean if steam or gog brings out a “newer version” which is the case for many games where they do some updating on use with Win7/8/10 for example, only that would be supported by vorpX. In my eyes it would only partly make sense because this would force a player to become a member of company XY. I think vorpX should work with the latest official version of the manufacturer, not the one from a company XY. In case of a downloadgame from gog or steam this is not an issue but for a purchased game CD from a supermarket for example.

Of coarse i agree with that not every older game-version can be kept eye on.

I am not shure if the GOG versions are very representative, i noticed when installing (i have the deluxe version with all add ons) it is recommended to install ALL add ons at first install because they update the main game to newer versions. ( at least for 3D visison that made a big difference ).

Real good news Ralf, thank you !

BTW: i came across this today , DX1-11 to openGL Wrapper. Couldnt that be a way to get all those old DX1-8 gamnes to work ?

NWN 1 is one of my favorite games, if not my favorite at all. Cant wait to see Linu again in VR !

I wonder how far back the OpenGL recognition of vorpX reaches, today i found Myth 3 in the attic from 2001 with openGL.

Thanks for explaining in detail Ralf, in understand. Hope the rest of vorpX will remain WIN7 compatible. (looking at all those older games which cant be run under WIN8/10 but are equipped with DX9)
