RalfKeymasterThe games are supposed to not show anything on the monitor, that is perfectly normal. You can enable that in the vorpX menu, but that is not recommended.
They should however show in the headset. If they don’t, please first make sure that SteamVR is running. If it already is running, try to restart it.
RalfKeymastervorpX 16.2.0 with beta HTC Vive support has been released.
RalfKeymasterSorry for the confusion. It *will* hook DX11 after the next vorpX update, which will be released shortly. Should have made that more clear.
RalfKeymasterMight be one of the games that do not allow mouse (used for head tracking) and gamepad input at the same time. Probably solvable by using the vorpX gamepad emulation instead of the native gamepad support. You can configure it in the vorpX ingame menu.
FOV can be changed with an ini tweak: http://www.pcinvasion.com/how-to-increase-the-fov-in-alien-isolation-and-remove-intros
RalfKeymasterIt’s hooking DX11 now, so you will be able to play again, but no time to check stereo 3d viability yet. Will be checked after the next update.
RalfKeymasterThe Oculus software always gets activated. No way around that.
Please make sure to NOT activate “Multi threaded input” in the vorpX menu. This option is of no use anymore and may lead to choppy head tracking. It will be removed with the next version. Other than that: vorpX emulates the mouse for head tracking. Unless your mouse works choppy in games there shouldn’t be an issue.
Swapped eyes are technically impossible with vorpX. There may be some objects shown at wrong depth in some games though, which may lead you to this assumption.
Steam VR should be OFF for the Rift. It only is required for Vive, but not for Oculus!
RalfKeymasterPlease run the game windowed and/or use ALT TAB to bring it to front when it looses focus. Unfortunately that can happen with Oculus Home.
Just in case: BF4 loads pretty slow, so please also make sure to allow it its usual 1-2 minutes to display anything. The small loading animation in the screen corner is not visible in the headset.
RalfKeymasterThe screen capturing should be independent from any graphics driver setting, but if possible going back to an earlier system restore point might be worth a try. Just to make sure the issue wasn’t caused by the driver update.
RalfKeymasterNo, that should work. Are both the Rift and the monitor connected to the same graphics card? That can be an issue with SLI systems.
RalfKeymasterAre you by any chance using multiple monitors? Multi monitor support for the desktop viewer is virtually non-existing at the moment. It’s on the list, but not a top priority ATM.
RalfKeymasterThat’s a bit too game specific for me to help, but maybe someone else with rFactor 2/Sim Commander experience has an idea.
RalfKeymasterYou *can* adjust a lot of things in vorpX, but you don’t have to. Doing so can make sense to get the perfect experience, but there also is a very simple 3-step preocedure to get almost any game up and running in 10 seconds.
That doesn’t always provide the 100% result that is possible with some of the advanced stuff, but it always provides a playable experience.
RalfKeymasterThe same vorpX version will work for both headsets, no separate purchases required if you own both.
RalfKeymasterYou can run most games windowed. That usually allows you to set resolutions that aren’t directly supported by your monitor.
The suggestions made by vorpX are a bit flaky currently, sorry. It suggests your headset’s display resolution, which was correct for earlier vorpX versions, but isn’t anymore. Will be fixed shortly.
The best resolutions for the current vorpX version are 4:3/5:4 resolutions. Either 1280×1024, 1600×1200 or 1920×1440 depending on how fast games are running on your PC. For very resource hungry games 1024×768 is also worth a try if you want to trade image clarity for performance.
