RalfKeymasterYou just have to launch vorpX and then launch games afterwards. vorpX should hook into supported (and many unsupported games) automatically.
If vorpX hooks into no games at all, there is very likely a conflict with some other program on your PC. Please disable everything that would not be there after a fresh Windows install. Especially virus scanners, GPU/CPU utilities and generally everything that also hooks into games or can show notifications in games.
Any recommendation regarding primary display or similar things is VERY outdated and does not apply anymore for over a year. Make sure to install the latest Oculus software which only has direct mode. The headset shouldn’t even be visible in the Windows monitor config normally.
The desktop viewer is not available on Windows 7. Unfortunately Windows 7 does not provide the required functionality for it to work. You need Windows 8.1 or higher for the desktop viewer.
Geforce Experience is not needed for Oculus to work, but normally it doesn’t interfere either. In case of issues, remove it for testing purposes.
You do not have to import any profiles. All default profiles are automatically there and loaded.
RalfKeymasterHello,
Your key has been sent two times already (Tuesday and the second time yesterday) to the mail address you used to register to the forum here.
Please check your spam folder!
I’ll send it a third time. If it still does not reach you this time, please contact us with an alternative e-mail address.
RalfKeymasterVirtual Cinema mode can be enabled or disabled regardless whether a game is supported.
Unsupported games that vorpX is able to hook into have the full feature set of supported games available minus stereo 3d, which requires game specific profiles.
RalfKeymasterThis is very likely caused by a wrong Oculus runtime version. Please
1. Make sure that you have the latest Oculus software installed: http://www.oculus.com/setup
2. Make sure that there are no leftovers from any beta runtime that you might have had installed (0.8 or earlier). Do not use a runtime switcher.
The latest Oculus software requires a Rift DK2 or CV1. If you are still using a DK1, please contact support |at| vorpx com.
RalfKeymasterOculus Home always opens as soon as the Rift is activated. No way around that. Please
1. Minimize Oculus Home to the taskbar before launching a game.
2. Always run games windowed if possible. This works more reliable than fullscreen.
3. If you run games fullscreen, they may loose focus due to Oculus Home interfering. In such a case ALT TAB can help to activate them.If you still have problems after following these steps, please check the trouble shooting guide in the help in regard to possible conflicts with other programs on your PC.
RalfKeymasterThere is no need to run games fullscreen. Running games windowed is the recommend way since the new Oculus software was released as this avoids several glitches that can occur in combination with Oculus Home when running games fullscreen.
Also please do not start games from the vorpX desktop viewer if that causes issues for you. Instead start them from your normal Windows desktop.
RalfKeymasterIf there was a definitive release date, I would share it. All I can say right now is: as fast as possible, or in old ID Software speak: when it’s done. Might take another two or three weeks, but might also take just days.
RalfKeymasterPlease check the Essential Game Hints Guide in the vorpX help.
It lists all methods vorpX provides to deal with field of view (FOV), which is what you want to do in regard to the zoomed in look. What can be done varies from game to game, but there always is a way to solve this.
RalfKeymasterA lot earlier than three months.
RalfKeymasterThis was a design choice as Z3D does generally not work that great for very strong separation values.
The way vorpX does Z3D you usually get less stereo nearby, but in the distance you often have stronger separation than you get with Geometry 3D (or in reality). In reality stereo vision ends about 10m in front of you while with Z3D one can freely adjust this point, so in the end the choice was made to amplify the effect where Z3D woks really well (in the distance) instead of introducing heavy artifacts.
RalfKeymasterThe DK2 works just fine with the latest Oculus software. It shows a warning in Oculus Home, but that’s all. Besides that you can use it like before. What doesn’t work anymore is the DK1.
RalfKeymaster@ Noble : You can watch videos (including 3d movies) with vorpX either by using the desktop viewer with almost any video player that you might have on your PC or, if you use VLC or MPC-HC, with a special high quality video player mode that automatically kicks in when you use these players. Image quality wise that is as good as it gets in regard to watching videos on your headset.
RalfKeymasterPlease reinstall vorpX using your web installer. This will install a hotfix that was relased a few days ago. It fixes the frequent start crashes on some systems.
RalfKeymasterPlease make sure that you have only the latest Oculus software installed and that there are no leftovers from any beta runtime on your system.
RalfKeymasterFor Stereo 3D a game has to be supported. vorpX also tries to hook all other DX9-DX11 and OpenGL games though, which often works. In this ‘unupported mode’ there is no stereo 3d, but most other VR functionality like head tracking etc. works.
I can’t say anything in regard to Subnautica specifically though.
