Thanks. I’ll see whether I can buy a copy of Starship Troopers somewhere, doesn’t seem to be available on Steam unfortunately. No promises though, there is always the possibility that things don’t work out.

If you didn’t keep a copy of your web installer, please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com to get a new download link.

A screen shot would indeed be nice, I’m not quite sure whether I understand the issue.

If the problem is that you don’t get a side by side split image at all in the Rift, it’s quite likely that some other program on your PC that also hooks into games prevents vorpX from doing so. The trouble shooting guide in the help lists quite a few possible candidates for such a conflict. If you didn’t do so already, please check that out.

EdgePeek actually is a toggle. It works like you describe when you press and hold the MMB, but you can also toggle EdgePeek with a short click.

Having both gives you maximum flexibility. Press+hold for shortly looking at an UI element, toggle with a short click for using menus etc. Years of research went into this ingenious double key functionality. ;)

The same behaviour is implemented for other functions too.

I don’t want to persuade you :), as you are completely right. This is a matter of opionion to a large degree.

The link below may still interest you. Stereoscopy is just one of many depth cues your brain uses to create a sense a depth. It’s not completely unimportant, and to some it may be more important than to others, but VR is so powerful in itself that it can even work without S3D. Just like you are still fully immersed in the real world when you close one eye. Even monoscopic VR headsets exist, multiple times as expensive as the Rift.

Do you by any chance have the latest nVidia drivers installed? If so, please roll back to an older version.

The latest nVidia drivers have issues with the DK2, not only with vorpX. One of them being to force the display to a refresh rate that causes the DK2 to display two images like shown in your picture. General consensus is to not use the latest nVidia drivers with the DK2.

If that is not the issue, please make sure to have vorpX only enabled while playing games not made for VR. Your photo looks like the Oculus demo scene, so double images would be normal, since vorpX is added on top of the native stereo rendering.

Do not fiddle with settings too much! If you are new to vorpX, it’s easier to break something than to gain anything.

The only things that really NEED to be done once per game are dealing with FOV (field of view) and adjusting head tracking sensitivity like described in the Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help. If you didn’t do so already, please read these hints (and the Quick Start Guide). Saves a lot of head scratching. :)

All games you mention have an entry in the Game Settings Optimizer (vorpX config app), making FOV adjustment a one click action. Head tracking sensitivity can be adjusted on the input page of the ingame menu.

Everything else is tweaking and not strictly necessary in most cases.

Positional tracking works fine here, but there seems to be a bug that also disables the head tracking y-axis when the the mouse y-axis is disabled. This definitely is not intended.

Probably a last minute change that broke something. Will look into it.

Edit: disabling mouse y-axis in selected games will work as intended with the next update (no date set yet).

You have to select the correct display adapter (the listbox is titled “Video”) and resolution (1920×1080 for DK2) in the rFactor config program.

With that done it works fine here. If one of these isn’t set correctly, the game exits immediately after start.

BTW: You will also have to activate freelook mode for head tracking. Can’t remember how to do that currently, but Google will know the answer ;).

Skyrim should work without much problems normally. It’s heavily tested. If you use mods, especially ENB-mods or mods that rely on a script extender, please try a fresh Skyrim install without any mods. Most mods should cause no problems, but it’s impossible to test every single one unfortunately.

If the FOV is changed successfully with the Game Settings Optimizer, the game looks like a native game in this regard. If for some reason the FOV fix failed, try googling for “fov far cry 4”. There are a few YouTube videos that explain how to do it manually.

Just in case: “unofficial” versions may not allow to change the FOV. A little surprise by Ubisoft.

HUD/menu: you can restore your old settings in the Game Settings Optimizer with the “Restore Backup”-button.

You have to adjust the head tracking sensitivity once per game according to your mouse sensitivity (input page of the ingame menu). The menu entry is called “HT Sensitivity”.

I would suggest to also check the Essential Game Hints and the Quick Reference in the vorpX help. Both contain this info and a few more important things that help you to enhance the experience with vorpX.

Currently only the Oculus Rift is supported, other headsets are an option for the future though.

Please see the document that is linked from the supported games page. It’s a bit outdated, some games are missing and there are more G3D games in the meantime, also the list is growing constantly, but it gives you a good overview.

BTW: VR is not only (not even primarily) about Stereo 3D. The great thing about VR is being literally inside the game. That works even completely without Stereo 3D.

    Hope that answers your questions.

Someone with a DK1 mentioned earlier that he had to uninstall the Oculus runtime, then remove the Oculus folder from the program directory completely before reinstallig the latest runtime again to make his DK1 work with vorpX 0.7.5.

I’m not sure why that may be necessary, but it’s worth a try. Make sure to re-boot before reinstalling the runtime.

If that doesn’t help, please send a mail to support |at| vorpx com to receive a downgrade option to a pre-DK2 version of vorpX, which does not rely on the Oculus runtime.
