RalfKeymasterThis sounds like an issue with the Z-Buffer. ALT TAB out and back into the game *might* solve the issue with a little bit of luck. But it may also be something you can’t fix yourself. I will check AC in this regard.
RalfKeymasterThis screenshot looks odd (no soft fading borders from the circular vignette). Please do a factory reset in the vorpX config app. Do not change the vignette scaling afterwards for the DK2, only select the lenses you are using.
Please also check whether there is a d3d9.dll in your Dirt 3 folder, and remove it in case there is one. That probably isn’t the issue, but just in case.
Your best bet for proper head tracking in Dirt 3 is using an external tool like OpenTrack, which can emulate TrackIR input. Emulating a gamepad with vorpX works to some degree, but is far from perfect. OpenTrack might not have been updated for DK2 yet, but I’m not sure of that.
RalfKeymasterAs always, no promises. But I will certainly take a look at it. For unknown reasons rFactor 2 completely slipped my mind before.
RalfKeymasterThis can be done with clicking or pressing down and holding the middle mouse button (or mouse wheel in most cases).
BTW: There are a few more useful functions like this one. They are explained in the quick reference in the vorpX documentation.
RalfKeymasterBlack Ops 2 is DirectX 11 only, which didn’t have Geometry 3D before the last vorpX release. No promises, but I will look into Geometry 3D for the latest DX11-only COD games for the next update. They are pretty high on the list.
RalfKeymasterIt *may* also be a mouse focus issue when using the DK2 a secondary display. If this is the configuration you use, try to set the DK2 as primary display and set vorpX to “Use system settings” display wise instead. This is just a guess, but worth a try.
RalfKeymaster@ divenity: Not sure whether that is true for Planetside 2, but some games disable the mouse when a gamepad is active. Fits your description pretty well, so in case you have a gamepad connected, looking for an option to disable it in the game options would be worth a try.
@ becozier: Out of curiosity: Did you try Risen 2 with both the DK2 as primary and as secondary display? Just had the thought, that it may be possible that the game does not get mouse focus when the DK2 is configured as secondary device. If that is the issue, it should be solvable by using the DK2 as primary display. Just a thought though, haven’t tried it yet.
RalfKeymasterPlease try to (re)install the latest Oculus runtime from the Oculus website. Normally it should have been installed with vorpX, but maybe that failed in your case. My guess would be that somehow the runtime installation may not be complete.
Also please make sure to update the firmware of your DK2 to the version that comes with the latest runtime.
All that vorpX does when checking for the device is initializing the runtime with the according SDK call and afterwards checking the name of the device to determine its type.
RalfKeymasterThe background/skybox in Gothic III isn’t rendered correctly when using Geometry 3D currently. So far there is no way to detect when it is rendered, which makes it impossible to treat it differently than the rest of the scene, which would be necessary to fix this glitch.
I would suggest to play this game with Z-Buffer 3D anyway due to performance reasons, at least outside. In interiors/dungeons Geometry 3D should work largely fine IIRC.
RalfKeymasterThe controller should be usable if you DISABLE it in the game options. vorpX has a built in gamepad emulation. It takes over when the gamepad is disabled in the game. This is necessary since Bethesda games disable vorpX’s head tracking when the game’s nornal gamepad function is used.
Not sure about your menu issue unfortunately. Nothing I can recommend apart from pressing the [DEL] only briefly. Longer presses may not get registered correctly. Maybe that is your issue.
RalfKeymasterYou have mail. If you didn’t receive the key, please contact us again. On a Sunday it may take a little bit longer than an hour sometimes. Sorry for the inconvenience.
RalfKeymasterDid you try to the Game Optimizer Setting for Dirt 3?
It switches the game to DirectX 9. This might be required, and is the preferred mode anyway since it supports Geometry 3D. If applying the setting automatically fails for whatever reason, googling for “dirt 3 dx9” will yield a few tutorials how to do this manually.
It should work this way, tested it a few days ago.
RalfKeymastervorpX has a configurable gamepad emulation built in. It automatically takes over when you disable the gamepad in the game, so in most cases there should be no need to use an external tool. You still can, of course
RalfKeymasterI’ll lower the minimum value for the next update. Not sure whether text will stay readable this way, but better unreadable than invisible. :)
Just in case you haven’t discovered that yet: You can use EdgePeek in menus (middle mouse button).
RalfKeymasterThere are certain limitations to what a driver like vorpX can do. Altering the control scheme is one of these limitations in most cases, since this would require deeper changes in the game. Don’t let this ruin the fun you can have with vorpX, you get used to it quickly.
Regarding the zoomed in view vorpX offers several strategies how to deal with this: Auto optimizing game setting for some games, hints on startup for some games, a function called 3D-Geometry Enhancement in Geometry 3D games, various aspect ratio modes, and the option to zoom the entire image.
For almost any game you can find a solution. In many cases in a way that makes the game look as good as a native Rift app, in others you may have to live with black bars for example.
Please take a look at the “How to get the most out of vorpX” guide in the documentation. It explains this a bit more detailed.
